- The Physics section was formula based. Topics such as Electrostatics and Magnetism had a higher weightage in the exam.
- Questions from Modern Physics had a lower weightage in the exam.
- In the Chemistry paper, Organic Chemistry had a higher weightage. The questions asked were based on the properties of organic compounds instead of reaction-based questions.
- All numerical-based questions were from Physical Chemistry. Inorganic Chemistry was based on NCERT.
- The mathematics section of JEE Main 2023 31 January Shift 1 Question Paper was concept based. Students were required to have a clarity on 2-3 concepts to solve one question.
- Topics such as Coordinate Geometry had a higher weightage with 3-4 questions.

JEE Main 2023 is conducted online as a computer-based test. Candidates are given 3 hours to attempt 75 out of 90 questions. JEE Main Question Paper is based on MCQs and Numerical Type Questions. There are three sections in the paper which include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
A total of 30 questions are asked in each section of the paper carrying a total weightage of 300 marks (each question carrying 4 marks). There is also a negative marking of 1 marks for each incorrect answer.
