Ques. Is JEE Main syllabus the same for Paper 1, Paper 2A and Paper 2B? What is the syllabus for each individual paper?
Ans. No, JEE Main Syllabus is different for all the three papers. However, JEE Mathematics syllabus for all the three papers is the same.
- JEE Main 2023 B.E./B.Tech (Paper 1) Syllabus includes Maths, Physics and Chemistry,
- JEE Main 2023 B.Arch (Paper 2A) Syllabus includes Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing questions testing candidates’ drawing ability.
- JEE Main 2023 B.Planning (Paper 2B) includes topics from Mathematics, Aptitude and Planning.
JEE Main Syllabus for Paper 1 is mainly of topics covered in Class XI & XII as that of CBSE. Most of these topics are also covered in NCERT books.
Ques. Is the JEE Main Syllabus the same as for Class XII of CBSE?
Ans. No, JEE Main Syllabus PDF not only includes the topics from Class XII syllabus of CBSE, but it also includes a few additional topics from Class XI.
Ques. Will JEE Main syllabus have questions from Class XI also?
Ans. Yes, JEE Main Syllabus consists of topics that cover Class XI and XII syllabus both. So, a lot of chapters from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics become equally vital both for Boards and JEE Main.
Ques. What are the important topics in JEE Main Syllabus for B.E./B.Tech?
Ans. JEE Main 2023Syllabus for B.E./B.Tech includes 65 major topics or units from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Physics includes 21 units, Chemistry has 28 and Mathematics has 16 units. Some of the most important topics from JEE Main 2023Syllabus for B.E./B.Tech are:
- Physics: Current Electricity & Heat Transfer, Dimensional Analysis, Gravitation & Electro-statistics, Geometrical Optics, Waves & Sounds, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases and Rotational Dynamics and Electromagnetic Induction.

- Physics:
- Topics not included in JEE Advanced: Semiconductors and Communication systems, Magnetism and Matter, Diffraction, Bulk modulus and modulus of rigidity, and Polarisation.
- Topics included in JEE Advanced: Bohr’s Model.
- Chemistry:
- Topics not included in JEE Advanced: F Block elements, Hydrogen, Environmental Chemistry, and Chemistry in everyday life.
- Topics included in JEE Advanced: Normality and equivalent weight.
Ques. Is studying Physics from H.C Verma good enough for JEE Main 2023?
Ans. If you complete H.C Verma part 1 and 2 both, you will be decently prepared for JEE Main Physics. Since JEE Main focuses more on basic concepts and their applications, a book like H.C Verma works quite well for this exam. However, it is not recommended to study and practice from only one book. Take a few mock tests in order to find out your weak areas so you can then know which other books to use to cover those weaknesses.
Ques. Is JEE Main tough?
Ans. Lakhs of candidates appear for JEE Main every year, the exam is a gateway to top engineering colleges in the country. The level of difficulty of the exam can not be underestimated mainly because of the high level of competition. But with a proper plan, accurate resources and dedication, one can definitely make it to the required rank range.
Ques. Can I crack JEE Main 2023 without coaching?
Ans. The need for a coaching center to go about JEE Main preparation is totally subjective and depends upon the student’s caliber and preference. Coaching centers can provide you with a direction through their guidance and can bring regularity in the study pattern. Your performance will also be constantly analyzed, helping you improve. On the other hand, self-study has its own advantages. You can save traveling time, energy and money. In the case of self-study, be very focused during school lectures and take help from your school teachers for doubt clarification.
Ques. What is the weightage of Kinematics in JEE Main Physics Syllabus?
Ans. Kinematics is an essential chapter not only because its weightage is high but also because it is the most basic chapter of mechanics and the concepts are used in almost all the other topics of JEE Physics Syllabus. Based on the previous year analysis, Kinematics has a weightage of about 6.6% in JEE Main Question Paper. Candidates must make sure that they have conceptual clarity when it comes to Kinematics. Ques. How do I complete JEE Main syllabus in 6 months?
Ans. It is not easy to complete the syllabus of an exam like JEE Main in 6 months. However, with hard work and correct planning, it is possible:
- Practice from Standard books like NCERT, HC Verma, etc. Don’t run after the quantity but towards the quality.
- Focus more on JEE Main Previous Year Question Papers. Solve as many sample papers and mock tests as possible.
- Chemistry: NCERT is the most important book for acing Chemistry. Other than that, for reference, use OP Tandon, MS Chouhan, Pradeeps, Morrison and Boyd, Himanshu Pandey, P Bahadur, SN Sanyal etc
- Maths: Start with NCERT and RD Sharma. Then go ahead with A Das Gupta, MCQ in Maths, and then previous year questions from Arihant 39 years.
- Physics: Start with HC Verma. Then go ahead with IIT JEE Questions directly. However, if you have time left after doing previous years questions then you can solve Irodov, Resnick, Krotov and so on and so forth. Also other books from Arihant and GRB are good to be referred to.
- Solve other people’s doubts. These will help you score better. Many questions ask only basic concepts but a good clarity in them which will subsequently come with practice.
