How is life at NALSAR?

PS
Pritam Sharma Posted On : August 31st, 2021
Ph.D from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad (2020)

One of my friends is studying for a Ph.D. from NALSAR. As per her review, life there is busy, especially for youngsters. Classes go on till late, but the evenings are peaceful. The university has a beautiful campus with well-maintained gardens and wide roads. But it is far away from Hyderabad city. However, transport facilities are readily available.

Ph.D. students have hard luck. Being into research, they do not spend much time on campus. They work from remote locations. Overall, campus life is peaceful and ideal for academics.

Which institute is better to join, NIEM or NAEMD?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 19th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

NIEM would be a preferable choice above NAEMD. NIEM stands out as one of the top-notch universities in the nation for event management. It's been recognized globally and even mentioned in the Limca Book of World Records as the first and the best event college.  They collaborate and have agreements with notable organizations like CII, EMAI, FICCI, and Ad Club. NIEM provides a full-time diploma in event management.

In the past few years, they've recorded a placement rate of 50%, and between 50% and 60% of the batch received internship opportunities. The highest stipend offered for an internship was INR 15,000 per month.

Even top recruiters like Sahara India Pariwar, 360Venue, Cineyug, Britt Worldwide, Platinum Events, and Red Chillies Entertainment visit the campus for placements. They offer an average salary of 3-4 LPA to the students.

SV
Sudeeksha Verma Posted On : August 14th, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (2020)

Yes, there is an option for branch change after the first year at NIT Rourkela. The conditions for branch change vary depending on the specific program and the student's academic performance. Generally, students must attain a CGPA of 8.5 with no backlogs to be eligible for a branch change.

Here is what the institute has officially declared regarding branch change:

All B. Tech, Int. MSc and BTech- MTech dual degree students who have secured a GPA of 8.5 or more (without any backlog) at the end of the first year are eligible for a branch change given they fulfill the following criteria

  • Change of branch will depend on the availability of vacant seats. Also, the vacancy created in the branch you are changing from should not be more than 5% of the actual existing strength.
  • The 5% of vacancy is calculated on the basis of the existing strength.
  • Once you have changed your branch, you cannot go back to your old branch.
  • The only criteria for branch change is GPA and in case of a tie in the same, the JEE Main rank will be given preference.

Additionally, students may also be required to participate in an interview or other selection process.

Jindal Global Law School i.e JGLS LLB program is among the finest in India among the law schools offering fully residential and truly accurate 3-year LLB programs.

Below are some facts about JGLS:

  • This could be on par with most of the 5-year law programs in the country including those offered at topmost law schools.
  • The precision involved in JGLS LLB could be as good as the JD programs of the USA or Canada if not better.
  • LLB batches have produced distinguished alumni who have won international moots like the ELSA WTO moot.
  • Scholarships like the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship for LLM at Cambridge University have been grabbed by the alumni.
  • The alumni are working in leading law firms like White and Case London or Amarchand and Luthra.

The EPGP programoffered by IIM Bangalore was developed for a different audience. It is for students who want to apply directly for leadership roles in the industry. Also, sponsored candidates can also prefer the program.

  • Well academically, it is also as demanding as PGP, with more detailed casework and discussions.
  • There are exams and quizzes each month and the placement is rigorous for mid-level roles in the industry.
  • The program leaves the studying to you so it's on you to build a takeaway for yourself. It is at par with 1-year full-time MBA programs in India, such as ISB, IIMA PGPX, and IIMC PGPEX.

What are the 5 mistakes IES aspirant should avoid while starting their preparation?

AM
Ashish Mehra Posted On : February 23rd, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

The exam is very tricky, hence there are a lot of chances to make mistakes. Even a single mistake might knock you out of the competition. So, it is essential to keep some things in mind while preparing.

Improper Time Table:

  • Not making a proper study timetable is one of the most common blunders.
  • You need to make a clear preparation strategy for each subject and every topic after strongly analyzing the syllabus and its weightage.
  • If not done properly, you might end up spending more time on a vast subject that has less weightage.

If you are a student enrolled in a classroom program then you can follow the study plan suggested by the institutes. If self-study is your plan, then you can opt for postal programs from Made Easy or others.

Multiple Study material:

  • There is a common misconception, that more study material results in better preparation. However, the reality slightly differs.
  • It is advisable to go for the best books which will help you in the preparation and time management.
  • You can opt for study material by institutes such as Made easy. You’ll get books, workbooks, previous year's questions as a single package which will be enough for the exam preparation.

Skipping Revision:

Many students tend to move on to new topics without revising the completed ones. So, revise regularly and strengthen your concepts.

Neglecting previous year questions:

  • Many students fail to recognize the importance of solving previous year's questions.
  • The fact is that solving these questions helps you to become familiar with the exam’s pattern.

Improper test series strategy:

  • Every aspirant wishes to crack the exam in the first attempt.
  • Enroll yourself in test series from renowned institutes such as Made Easy as they help you analyze your performance and help you improve your shortcomings.

Make sure you give your 100% with a clear preparation strategy and you’ll achieve your goal.

Which is a better college Hindu ,Hansraj, Ramjas ,Miranda House as a whole?

BJ
Barkha Jain Posted On : October 20th, 2021
Studied B.A History, Miranda House, University of Delhi (2020)

Among these four colleges, the college order for the best college would be - Hindu>Hansraj>Miranda>Ramjas

  1. Hindu is the best among them as it has the best placements and is a place for many other opportunities like extra-curricular activities. Only the colleges like St. Stephens, LSR, and SRCC can compete with a college like Hindu.
  2. Hansraj is good for NSS, clubs, and the CSE department as it has a friendly and helpful faculty. It is a 30-minute distance from the metro and is far from the metro station.
  3. Miranda is the same as Hansraj but the only difference is that it is co-ed and is near the metro. In academics, it's the same as the Hansraj.
  4. Ramjas doesn't have a good administration nor a good crowd. Students have created chaos on the campus by involving in fights. Although, one needs to do good research before getting to a conclusion for Ramjas.

Therefore, Miranda, Hindu, and Hansraj would be better options. However, a student should take admission to Miranda College as it is near to the station and has a good cut-off.

I can’t sleep less than 7 hours a day. How can I cope with my studies at IIM Ahmedabad?

YA
Yash Arora Posted On : December 21st, 2022
Marketing Manager at Market Simplified (2018–present)

If you aren't already a master of time management, there are two ways to get through the first year.

  • You teach yourself time management, your productivity increases significantly, and you'll have more time to sleep.
  • You disregard time management while forgetting what sleep entails. You spend the mornings keeping yourself awake in class, and the nights are spent getting ready for those classes and trying to finish up any unfinished work.

Many people end up taking the second option. Every day, they find it difficult to keep the numerous activities that they either are obligated to perform or take on voluntarily, and they quickly run out of time and patience. The more intelligent or unconcerned individuals significantly reduce their participation in voluntary activities. Thus, their days here are spent studying, sleeping, and occasionally relaxing with friends. You only need to be aware that you will either have to forgo your usual sleep or learn the skills and techniques.
