In Allahabad, Gateforum is pretty reputed among GATE/IES aspirants. But the coaching goes on for long hours. You will be exhausted by the time, all the classes are done. If you can cope with their hectic schedule, go for it. Mechasoft is another coaching that you can check out.

Which one is better, dropping a year for the BITSAT and JEE, or joining universities such as LPU or Amity?

DA
Dipankar Arora Posted On : May 31st, 2022
B.Tech Information Technology, Delhi Technological University (2020)

Drop a year only if you feel like you couldn’t do justice to your preparation and you can score better next time. Otherwise joining LPU or Amity will be the better option. These are reputed private institutes and offer decent placements to students. According to LPU placements of 2022 students received the highest CTC of INR 64.5 LPA. Amity has a good placement record for engineering branches as well. The average CTC received by most of the engineering branches is INR 6 LPA.

You can join LPU or Amity and prepare for JEE and BITSAT along with it as well. That way you won’t have to drop a year.

Which is better, to join TCS or to continue with GATE preparation?

VS
Vivek Sinha Posted On : August 9th, 2022
M.Tech in Computer Science Engineering & Data Science, International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIITB)

Join TCS and prepare for GATE simultaneously. During the training session for three months, you will get ample time to prepare for GATE after office hours. If you manage your time efficiently, it’s not difficult to squeeze a few hours for studying, after office hours, even after the training period. Many TCS associates prepare for competitive examinations like GATE, CAT, and IAS examinations. With the right time-management strategy, it’s possible to do both.

What are the best coaching centres for GATE and IES in Civil Engineering?

SS
Samriddha Saha Posted On : February 23rd, 2021
B.Tech in Delhi Technological University, Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering (2015)

There are many coaching centers throughout the country for IES and GATE coaching. However, these 2 institutes enjoy a huge reputation and recognition at the national level due to their experienced faculty and their study material quality.

Made Easy:

  • It is one of the best in the field when it comes to GATE and IES coaching. They have the best faculty teaching the subjects for the students.
  • Their specialty lies in their high quality and concise presentation.
  • One of my friends enrolled in the Delhi center weekend coaching program, which he claimed to be good.
  • Their online test series is one of the best you can opt for. They are prepared keeping the present pattern in mind. The number of students enrolled is hefty and gives you a clear picture of the competition.
  • Some criticize that their teaching lacks depth compared to other institutes. Their courses and tests require analytical knowledge and are more than enough to crack GATE/IES exams.

IES Masters:

  • This institute is one of the best in this field and has earned respect for its excellence and quality coaching within a short span of its inception.
  • All the major subjects for all batches are handled by Mr. Kanchan Thakur who is the director of the institute. He has a brilliant command over all the subjects in Civil engineering.
  • The study material of this institute is best and is even recommended for those who choose civil engineering as an optional subject in UPSC exams.
  • One small setback is that other faculties than the director are not on par when compared with the faculties of Made Easy.

For the GATE Online test series, you can opt for Made easy test series, and for the IES test series you can opt for IES Masters. If you plan to join made easy to enroll in Super Talent Batch which has all top faculties teaching in this batch.

For Classroom coaching for civil engineering in GATE/IES, Super talent batch can be preferred if not then IES Masters. For Postal study course, one can opt for IES masters.

Who can rate CAT, XAT, SNAP, IIFT, MICAT, TISS, or NMAT in terms of difficulty level?

RS
Rishi Sen Posted On : February 1st, 2021
PGDM Marketing and Finance, Institute of Management and Technology, Hyderabad (2021)

Among all these examinations, XAT is most difficult, followed by CAT. The difficulty level of the exams, in descending order (most difficult to easy) is XAT> CAT> IIFT> SNAP> TISS> NMAT.

Now, let us dive into a detailed analysis behind the assigned ranks and the difficulty level.

IIFT

  • The questions asked in IIFT are a mixture of moderate and difficult.
  • The struggle lies in the attainment of marks within the cut-off range, both total cut-off and individual section cut-off.
  • Therefore, the students have no option but to perform exceedingly well in all sections, GK included.
  • The acceptance rate of IIFT is comparably low, only 400 students get admitted out of 50000 students.

SNAP –

  • The entrance exam is easy but the tough part is to score marks that will be eligible for admission into Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, or SCHMID branch.
  • These are the branches which are of good quality, unlike the rest of them.

TISS

  • The exam pattern of TISS is easy but the GK section is the most dangerous part among them.
  • The questions asked in the GK section comprise both general knowledge and current affairs, therefore the portions are cover is endless.

NMAT

  • NMAT exam can be successfully cleared with proper preparation. The questions asked are conceptually based.
  • No negative marks are given for wrong answers, hence the students are free to attempt all the questions fearlessly.

MICAT is pretty easy. If you want a career in brand marketing and advertising it is necessary.

Therefore, from the above discussion, you can estimate the logic behind ranking the difficulty level of exams.

What are the best colleges in AP (through AP EAMCET)?

SS
Siddarth Sethia Posted On : February 17th, 2021
Studies at Bundelkhand Institute Of Engineering And Technology (2020)

The quality of the university depends on which branch you plan to take. There are quite a few good options you can choose from. Some of the private colleges offer really good courses in computer science engineering and electronics and communication engineering as compared to government universities. Thus, my advice to you would be to select the branch that interests you and work from there to select the college you want to go for.

Reputed Colleges:

There are quite a few options you have to choose from after giving AP EAMCET. Some of the colleges based in Andhra Pradesh include the following.

JNTU Kakinada

Andhra University College of Engineering Vizag

SVU College of Engineering Tirupati

Gayatri Vidya Parishad

Anil Neerukonda Engineering College

RVR JC Guntur

VR Siddhartha Engineering College

JNTU Anantapur

Sree Didyaniketan Engineering College

Vignan University

Raghu Engineering College

Godavari Institute Engineering & Technology

These places will give you the knowledge and add value to your resume.

College-based on Branch:

If you are looking at a specific branch, for example, computer science and electronics and communication, some colleges are better.

  • These include Vignan University and Raghu Engineering college which will help you with placements. Here, some of the top product based companies with good packages hire students annually.
  • In case you are considering going for civil engineering, GMR Institute of Technology is a really good institute worth considering.

Other colleges you can look at are RVR JC Guntur, JNTU Anantapur, and VR Siddhartha Engineering College. Finally, have a look at the rankings and also try to get in touch with students from these colleges who can give you reviews regarding the place before you choose anything.

I have a 5.8 CGPA in B.Tech from PTU. Can I aim for an MS from Canada?

AS

B.Tech Computer Science, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (2019)

The prerequisite for MS from Canada for most top universities and public colleges is in the 7.0-7.5 CGPA. It’s not likely that you will get into a good college with 5.8 CGPA. You have the option to apply for private colleges in Canada. Note that private colleges are not well-reputed in Canada.

How does the CV of students who get selected in IIMs(any), ISB, XLRI, FMS, SPJIMER, JBIMS look like?

RG
Ritwik Ganguly Posted On : February 23rd, 2022
studied at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (2019)

Naturally, it’s not possible to talk about CVs of all students who get selected at these B-schools. CVs of around the top 15-20% of students selected at IIMs, XLRI, FMS, or other popular management institutes are exceptional. But CV of an average student at these institutes usually has the following attributes.

Academics and Co-curricular activities:

Every student getting admission at these institutes doesn’t have international level or national level olympiads or other achievements. An average student usually has a few subject scores to boast about, a few competitive examination scores, some co-curricular activities, and a few certifications.

Work experience and Internships:

Most students have one or two job experiences. For this section, proper presentation helps a lot. If you present your job experience properly, your CV will look impressive.

Position of responsibilities:

Every student getting into IIM and other top management institutes doesn’t have exceptional PORs. Most student talks about their role in college fests and the responsibilities attached to it, NGO work, or a captain or vice-captain role in sports teams.

Extracurricular Activities:

Around 70% of students getting admission at these institutes have few social service initiatives, school/college level sports achievements, school/college level cultural achievements.

One of my friends recently graduated from SPJIMR, and his CV was average.

  • Academics: 10th - 92.4%, 12th - 82.6%, Graduation - 77.09%
  • He had nothing mentionable for Extra Curriculars and Positions of Responsibilities.

The two things that helped him get selected are his CAT score, i.e. 99.38 percentile, and work experience at a Top 20 Fortune 500 Automobile Firm.

This is the case for most students getting admission to these institutes. Only one or two sections of their CV stand out and the rest is fairly average.
