If you are concerned about the brand then definitely go for IIIT Allahabad. But, if you are clear with your choice of stream you can choose either of them. If you choose NIT Jamshedpur CSE it’s good and so is the same with IIIT Allahabad.
I can share one of my cousin’s experiences, who passed out from NIT Jamshedpur.

Most of the students join IIIT Allahabad keeping in mind their coding culture. If you have an aptness for programming and want to pursue a career in the IT industry, go for IIIT Allahabad. People who have an interest in CSE/IT but fail to get a seat in a good engineering college join ECE in IIIT Allahabad just to get an IT-like atmosphere.
Not many students who come to IIIT Allahabad are interested in the core fields or the core ECE material. But this doesn’t indicate ECE here to be bad or not up to the mark. The ones who work hard in the core fields reach different levels of heights in their academic career. They have great courses with the core subjects right from the first semester. The robotics lab and club are very well established and have a great reputation.
Talking about labs, IIIT Allahabad is known to have one of the best class labs in the country with all the required aid and mechanisms. The core subjects start from the first semester itself. The placement opportunities are great here, particularly in the IT sector. There is no point comparing EC with IT. IT/CSE placements are inferior in any college in India. The only disadvantage of joining ECE in IIIT Allahabad would be the peer group not taking interest in the core stuff. But if you are more concerned about yourself, it won’t matter much.
Is ECE good at IIIT Allahabad?

- If your AIR is around 7k-10k then, it is really good. Because at this rank you don’t consider yourself for branches like CS/ECE/IT in top NIT’s.
- When you look at the insights of IIIT-A, you find it is underrated.
- Although the college is younger than most of the top NIT’s, some professors are really outstanding.
- The labs here are better as compared to the NITs.
- Projects are assigned to students which carry the weightage of 5 credits. The projects start right from the fifth semester.
- The VLSI lab has various machines and instruments which help students to work on VLSI projects.
Choosing the best college for you depends on the various parameters like your interest, location, professors, infrastructure, laboratories, culture, academic records, alumni network, and placement. Thus, choose wisely.
What should I prefer, IT in IIIT Allahabad or ECE in NIT Hamirpur?
It is unfair to compare IIIT Allahabad with NIT Hamirpur. If you take a look at the closing cutoff for IIIT Allahabad and NIT Hamirpur, the difference will be clear.
