How to Apply for MBA Admission in 2023?

Students need to follow a series of steps in order to take admission in MBA. The process starts with finding the right time to do an MBA. The entrance exam for admission will take place a few months before the course starts.

Step 1: Apply for MBA Entrance Exams

Students should submit applications for several entrance tests. The students must submit an application for the exam after reviewing the requirements for that exam. A few months before the exam, registration is open. Each year, registration dates become available in August.

Step 2: Prepare and Sit for the Entrance Exams

Students must begin studying after submitting their exam applications. Every year, the majority of the tests are administered between November and January. As a result, there will be about two to three months between the time of registration and the exam. Check: MBA Entrance Exams

Step 3: Results and College Cut Offs

Not all exam results will be made public at the same time. As a result, students must wait until they receive the results of each entrance exam before selecting a college. Once the results of the top MBA entrance examinations, primarily the CAT, are out, students will begin receiving phone calls from institutions and other agents. Direct communication with the college is always preferable.

Step 4: Applying to Colleges

The cut off declared in the colleges a student wishes to attend must be checked by the student. Agents should be avoided by students since they are not trustworthy. Students visit colleges to tour them before applying for admission. The majority of exam results are good for a year. Check: Top MBA Colleges in India

Step 5: Shortlisting of Candidates for GD/PI

Students who pass the first eligibility and college cutoff requirements must participate in group discussions and personal interviews for a more thorough assessment. For the GD round, students must keep up with current affairs and generate judgments about them. Students meet department heads and other teachers face-to-face during personal interviews. Check: MBA GD Topics

Step 6: Declaration of Final Merit List and Waiting List

The same student is anticipated to apply to many universities given that it is common for individuals to take multiple admission tests. The Final Merit List will be used by students to choose their college selection. Students may be accepted to a mid-tier college while being placed on a waiting list for selective institutions. Several students from the waiting list will be admitted to the college on the lists that will be revealed later, therefore students must be patient.

1. The course curriculum is designed to help students gain fundamental understanding of the various functional areas of management like, finance, marketing, HR and operations. The difficulty level of the course curriculum is average. 2. The good aspect of the curriculum is that it allows one to get exposed to several crucial concepts of the management which are highly practical in nature. On the other hand, the bad aspect is that most of the curriculum is out dated and not focused on current developments. 3. The courses is divided into 4 semester (2 years). Each semester has 2 exams (minor and major). 4. Each day there are approximately 5-6 classes for the first 2 semesters and then in 3 semester 3 classes each day on an average and in the 4th semester only 2 classes. Timings are usually between (9 AM to 6 PM) from Monday to Friday. 5. The teaching methodology is usually PPT based lectures and sometimes there are case studies discussion. 6. I personally Admire Dr. Vishal Vyas and Dr. Gaurav Aggrawal (both finance faculties). The way they deliver lectures, engage students and teach each concept in depth allows students to gain deeper understanding of the finance domain. 7. Yes, there is a criteria for minimum 75% attendance in all subjects before minor and major exam. In case there is short attendance students need to fill undertaking form and consult with the concerned faculty. If the attendance is very short one will not be allowed to sit for the major exam. (One of my classmates got debarred from the major exam in the 2nd semester for short attendance).

1. The academic rigor is quite high. There are continuous evaluations and presentations which keep the students on their toes and they get little time to relax during the course. Generally students do not fail unless they perform miserably. Also there are makeup exams to help the students pass even if they score an F. 2. Good aspect is that the curriculum keeps students on their toes. Little time to relax helps student learn time management and how to prioritize things accordingly. Bad aspect is sleep cycle gets disturbed a lot but eventually this prepared for the trough situations that you might face in corporate later on. Eventually time management is the key. 3. 3 end term exams and multiple quizzes as there is continuous evaluation 4. Generally on average 4 classes take place every day in 1st year. In 2nd year the average number of classes decreases considerably. Timings are quite varied but they happen in the 8:30 AM to 9 PM slot. Apart from classes people might get free time as per their preferences as most of the students are involved in club/committee. project work post classes. 5. Mostly teaching methodology is case study based. 6. I admire Abhishek Sir of Marketing and Prantosh Sir of Strategy as they both have their unique styles of teaching which generally resonated a lot with the masses. 7. The mandatory attendance rule is of 80% for each subject. If you don't fulfill the attendance criteria you get a grade loss.

Ques. Is NMIMS a good college for an MBA?

● Top Answer By Akriti Gupta on 12 Sept 23

Ans. Yes, NMIMS is considered to be the MBA college in Mumbai city and its MBA program is highly regarded among aspirants. Here are a few pros and cons of the institute that might help you  Pros The college is well-known for its state-of-the-art infrastructure. The classrooms have all modern facilities and the library too is well-stocked. Its location gives it leverage in establishing healthy industrial relations. The parity of the faculty cannot be doubted as they deliver excellent lectures. The academics are much more than just bookish language as students are made to solve Case-based studies. The food served in the canteen is quite good. Students get the chance to participate in lots of competitions and earn well, or get PPI. Cons : NMIMS fees are exorbitantly high. The first-year fee is INR 11.95 Lakhs. You also need to consider the expenses of living in Mumbai. Hostel faculties for only limited students  A few faculties have no interest in teaching.  The placement stats are inflated and thus misleading.  The MBA batch of NMIMS has a huge batch of around 600 students affecting the quality of education. There is a huge gap between the administration and the students.  Easy entrance exam affects the quality of the crowd. So, NMIMS was once a great B School but the increasing batch size has affected its reputation largely. You can go for colleges with a smaller batch size and similar fees to get better job opportunities.Read more
