Medical Coder

Medical coding is the transformation of healthcare diagnosis, procedures, medical services, and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes. Medical Coders procure diagnoses and procedure codes from medical record documentation, such as transcription of physician's notes, laboratory, and radiologic results, etc. Medical Coding Professionals help ensure that the codes are applied correctly during the medical billing process, which includes abstracting the information from documentation, assigning the appropriate codes, and creating a claim to be paid by insurance carriers. Medical Coders usually review the patient notes for evaluation and coding.

The type of records and notes depends on the clinical setting (outpatient or facility), and may require a certain degree of specialization (larger facilities may have individuals who focus on medical specialties while coders who work in smaller, or more general offices, may have a broad range of patients and medical conditions.). They select the top patient note or billing sheet on the stack, and review the documentation to understand the patient's diagnoses assigned, and procedures performed during their visit. Medical Coders also abstract other key information from the documentation, including physician names, dates of procedures, and such information.

Bioinformatics Trainee Bioinformaticians apply information technology to biological, medical, and health research. They use computational tools to gather and analyse data in fields such as population, biology, genetics, and pharmaceutical development. Bioinformaticians develop systems to gather data. Examples include constructing a survey methodology, designing a clinical trial for a new medication, and programming a statistical model for population growth. They also develop databases to compile vast amounts of information from activities such as gene expression profiling and protein expression. 4.5 lacs
Biophysicist Biophysicists study the relationship between physics and living organisms, aiming to identify predictable patterns in biological processes. They conduct research for the government, universities and private institutes, often on topics such as DNA and proteins. 5 lacs
Clinical Pharmacologist Clinical Pharmacologists are medical scientist who specializes in the effect of drugs on the body. These professionals draft plans for pharmaceutical trials and create guidelines for prescribing medication. To design drug trials, Clinical Pharmacologists refer to data from the Human Genome Project and consult with scientists who have developed new pharmaceutical compounds and conducted preclinical testing. Additionally, they co-ordinate testing of a drug's absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion from the human body. 6 lacs

Ques. How good are the placements in Anna University for M.Tech students in biotechnology?

● Top Answer By Sanjay Gupta on 19 Dec 22

Ans. The placement opportunities for M.Tech students in biotechnology at Anna University are very rare. My friend is a student of Anna University currently pursuing M. tech in biotechnology. She told me that the reality is different once you get into college. No doubt the teachers and curriculum are top notch, but the sole focus throughout the entire first year is studies. There are no practicals at all. Rather it looks like studying the core subjects of B.Tech with higher level education. The second year has both minor and major projects. Once you are done with the projects you have to do the job seeking alone. There are no placements. Sometimes your mentor can offer you a decent package that will give you sufficient industrial exposure. After this you can apply for high-paying jobs also.Read more

Ques. How good is business informatics in IIIT Allahabad (in terms of placement and curriculum), and what is its cutoff?

● Top Answer By Somya Srivastav on 16 Mar 21

Ans. Business Informatics was chosen by one of my friends at IIIT Allahabad. So, I will be able to share some of his experiences. The course mainly focuses on business and technology domains. The faculty is very helpful and supportive and you feel like home here. Placements:  The branch was established in 2019 which is why there are currently no placement statistics. However, you can assume that they are almost the same as IT, because after all, it's an IT branch, and then BI as a specialisation.  You don't need to worry about placements, because it's really a worthy discipline. Cutoffs: If you are in the general category, the cut-off was approximately 7100 according to the last year. Perhaps this year also the cut-off will be similar due to low deviation. The Cut-off stats of 2020 of JEE Mains by NTA are as follows:  GEN 70.24 Other Backward Classes (OBC) 72.88 Scheduled Caste (SC) 50.17 Scheduled Tribe (ST) 39.06 The institute’s course curriculum covers all subjects of the IT branch, plus one additional subject for BI. It will be quite difficult for you to cope up with all the subjects but if you work hard then it will be easier for you.Read more

● Top Answer By Manish Jain on 16 Mar 21

Ans. Among the institutes mentioned, IIIT Allahabad is a better alternative for Bioinformatics. One of my friends was also going through this same situation a few years back and he chose IIIT Allahabad. His experience at the institute has been quite good over the past 4 years.  The table shows a brief overview of the institutions. Particulars IIIT Allahabad MANIT Bhopal Median Salary Rs. 20 lakhs Rs. 6.23 lakhs Highest Salary Rs. 43 lakhs Rs. 27 lakhs Fees Rs. 5.85 lakhs Rs. 2.31 lakhs Highlights:  IIIT Allahabad is a premier institute renowned for its IT branch.  Every year around 85% of students get settled with their dream jobs.  BI students also go for IT companies and get placed respectively.  Core Bioinformatics companies don't visit the campus usually, but product-based companies like Amazon, Directi, etc offer handsome packages.  Overall, IIIT Allahabad is the potential choice as the faculty and infrastructure are good and all the previous year’s students have been placed with good packages. Read more
