Course Details

Total Fees for Hostellers :

For GE/OBC/EWS : Rs. 1,36,500 (1^st Sem)
For SC/ST/PwD : Rs. 36,500 (1^st Sem)

Note :

a) SC/ST/PwD students are exempted from payment of tuition fee irrespective of their parental income.
b) GE, OBC-NCL, EWS students whose family income is less than Rs.1 lakh per annum shall get full remission of the Tuition fee.
c) GE, OBC-NCL, EWS students whose family income is less than Rs.1 lakh to Rs.5 lakhs per annum shall get remission of 2/3rd of the tuition fee.
d) All the students shall have access to interest free loan under Vidyalaxmi scheme for the total portion of the tuition fee payable
Dual Degree students have to pay B.Tech. fees for the first 8 semesters and M.Tech. fees for 9th & 10th semesters
For SC/ST students with scholarships, the advanced dining charges will be claimed from the Scholarship section. Advanced Dining charges and Student Medical Insurance Premium are subject to change depending on the tender.

How is mechanical engineering at IIT Madras (B.Tech)?

IIT Madras has a great Mechanical Engineering branch. The departmental lab and workshop are well-equipped with cutting-edge instruments. IIT Madras Mechanical dept. has a well-experienced faculty pool. Many faculty members are actively pursuing research projects.

IIT Madras placements are good for Mechanical Engineering. Around 85% of students get placed from the branch. The average CTC received by the students of the branch is around INR 12 LPA.

What will be better, IIT KGP electrical, IIT Madras mechanical or IIT Indore CS? I have loved to code since I was in grade 8 and physics was my most favorite subject during the JEE preparation.

According to me, opting for Mechanical from IIT Madras is a better choice as IIT Madras is one of the oldest IITs in India and it holds 1st rank in Engineering in the NIRF ranking.
