How good is IMT Hyderabad for MBA in Finance in terms of ROI?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : July 11th, 2023

There is no fixed ROI one can expect after completing MBA in Finance from IMT Hyderabad. It all depends on your academic profile and the way you spent 2 years here. Some students here come just for enjoying campus life while some take academics seriously and give it their all. The ROI directly depends on your skills and performance in the interview and cannot be generalized.

Is DTU good or bad?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : July 6th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Like any other thing, DTU has its own set of weaknesses and strengths. To name a few

Pros

  1. You become fully dependent on self-study and stay motivated on your own.
  2. It is located in the capital city of India and thus has a plethora of opportunities to offer.
  3. Some recruiters still consider it a part of DU and approach it because of its DCE brand.
  4. DTU still is the mother institution of IIT Delhi and thus has a great faculty pool and academic environment. We have well-qualified teachers and good exposure.
  5. The 150-acre campus is better maintained than the huge forest-like campus of NSIT.
  6. DTU is better than IITs in the sense that its brand name hasn't been diluted yet and it stands high amongst its rivals.
  7. The best part of DTU is the Engifest, a spectacular event with massive participation.

Cons

  • DTU classroom sessions are very lacking so students don't get to experience good classroom learning.
  • Although it is in Delhi, its location is Bawana
  • DTU lacks the brand value and tag which is crucial for engineering students.
  • The increasing batch size every year is another reason to worry about as it's affecting the cutoffs and placement opportunities directly.

Overall, DTU is a great choice if you are not after brand value and are ready to commit to hard work.

How is life of a CS student in NSIT and DTU as compared with life of a CS student in an IIT?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 22nd, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Here are a few points of differences between the life of a CS student in NSUT/Delhi and life of a CS student in an IIT

  • Academic Workload: The first-year students in NSUT and DTU have a laid-back and relaxed experience with no academic pressure of completing assignments, preparing for internals, performing practicals, etc. Whereas IITians are busy with a hectic schedule and rigorous academics right from the first year. They have to be serious about their practicals, labs, and assignments.
  • Attendance Policy: Although NSUT and DTU have a 75% attendance policy NSUT students don’t follow and the consequences aren’t very serious. IITs on the other hand are very serious about attendance policies. Students need to attend classes, tutorials, and labs each requiring 75% attendance.
  • Curriculum: NSUT and DTU have a relatively lighter and easier curriculum than IITs which have a very rigorous and challenging course syllabus.
  • Campus life: NSUT and DTU have relatively dull campus life than IITs. Students are not involved in organizing summits, seminars, presentations, events, etc. While in IITs the campus is buzzing with some or other activities every day.
  • Hostel life: Unfortunately in India, the quality of hostel life depends on your gender. If you are a girl you will have a full life anywhere whereas if you are a boy you will get full freedom at either place.
  • Placements: Placements won’t be an issue if you are a CSE graduate because both NSUT and IITs offer similar opportunities.

Hope the comparison helps you get a better understanding of lives in different colleges.

What is the one thing you will miss when you graduate from NIT, Durgapur?

SD
Shivani Das Posted On : September 6th, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology Durgapur (2019)

My sister is a recent pass-out of NIT Durgapur and misses it a lot. She misses everything about her college from the amazing hostel life to all the friends she made. She misses the memorable and enjoyable moments spent with seniors. with them. She wants to relive all the fun moments like late-night gossip and fun in the hostel and bunking classes with her friends.

She misses the struggle she went through to maintain her attendance and a good CGPA. Another amazing experience is when NIRVANA is held. A number of workshops are held by clubs to help students pursue their passions. She found happiness in gossiping and eating junk food in places of recreation inside the campus. She also misses visiting restaurants like Mainland China, Lemon Grass, City Residency, Layeks, Durgapur House, and many others. The competitions conducted by clubs and fests are also very engaging.

With so many memories and life lessons, she thanks NIT Durgapur for what it made her today.

Which is better, guide by ranking these IITs: IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Ropar, IIT Patna, or IIT Jodhpur?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : June 21st, 2023

Evaluating and choosing colleges based on NIRF rankings is purely illogical as the criteria these ranking bodies consider are unrelated to your degree. Rather, you should consider the facilities provided by the institute and your personal preferences. That being said, IIT Jodhpur is a great choice among the aforementioned institutes.

  • Placements: IIT Jodhpur placement scenario is like no other new IIT even giving an edge to the old IITs. IIT Jodhpur's average package is INR 17 LPA and the highest is INR 40 LPA.
  • Infrastructure: IIT Jodhpur has a well-developed and modern infrastructure among all IITs. In fact, its campus design won the award for best campus design and is one of the biggest campuses among all IITs spreading across more than 800 acres.
  • Facilities: The institute boasts well-equipped labs and departments. IIT Patna has the fastest commercially available AI solution in the world, the DGX-2.
  • Batch size: The small batch size ensures more resources per student. The resources you cannot use at other IITs during your UG years can be easily accessed here. At IIT Patna students working on projects in AI and ML access the computers to conduct research.
  • New branches: IIT Patna likes to keep up with the industry trends and has launched new branches like AI and Data Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
  • Hostel: The hostel facilities are no less and to get single AC rooms and decent food in the mess.
  • Campus life: IIT Patna organizes the biggest cultural fest in the North-Western part of India called Ignus which invites big stars.
  • Course structure: The course structure is relatively flexible and students are free to choose any interdepartmental course for electives with very very few exceptions.
  • Extracurricular activities: IIT Patna targets the holistic development of its students and thus importance is given to cultural activities, dance, drama, and music clubs.

Overall, IIT Jodhpur offers all the necessary resources and opportunities to make your education here worthwhile.

How was your experience at the VNIT, Nagpur Quora meetup on 17th October, 2015?

KM
Kaushal Madnani Posted On : October 30th, 2023
VNIT, Graduated 2019

I had a fantastic experience at the meetup.

VNIT Nagpur is my alma mater, and this meetup revived so many of my memories of this place. I used to organize a number of events during college days.

At the meetup, I was invited as the chief guest. The college canteen, the classrooms, and every other thing about VNIT made me nostalgic. The meetup was a huge success, and a large number of students attended it.

I made close bonds with a lot of people, and had a great time overall. There were discussions on a variety of topics, ranging from movies to social issues, and more. The crowd was energetic, enthusiastic, and bubbling with questions. Unfortunately, I and the other guests couldn’t address all of those doubts because of time constraints.

I feel lucky, having gotten an opportunity to revisit my college as a chief guest. This meetup will always remain a fond memory for me.

Yatika Mehla Posted On : February 19th, 2024

Based on the packages offered at Thapar University, the recruiting companies are divided into three categories- Category 1 companies offer 1 LPA- less than 4 LPA, Category 2 companies offer 4-8 LPA, and Category 3 companies offer more than 8 LPA.

Those who are selected in a category 3 company, can’t sit for further placements. Those who are selected in a category 2 company, can sit only for category 3 companies. Those who are selected for a category 1 company, can sit for both category 2 and category 3 companies. But each student can receive a maximum of 2 offers. Moreover, those who are placed in a “Dream Company” can’t appear for placements any further.

This is the complete information on receiving multiple placement offers at Thapar University.

How do I track the status of an applied certificate on the website of Osmania University?

Diksha Banerjee Posted On : June 1st, 2022
MSc Geophysics & Gold Medalist, Osmania University (2017)

There is no tracking facility available on the Osmania University website. Usually, the university takes around 15 days or more to send the certificate. You can call the examination branch to know the status of your application. You can also visit the university personally to get information about the same.

Why is IIT Gandhinagar behaving more like a private college and less like an IIT?

YA
Yash Arora Posted On : July 27th, 2023
IIM Bangalore | IIT Gandhinagar

I fail to understand what you mean by ‘behaving more like a private college’ and from where such a question stems from. If your comparison of IIT Gandhinagar with private colleges is to point out its features uncommon to other IITs then maybe yes, IIT Ganghinagar is certainly a bit different from the usual IIT standards.

Consider the following points to understand this further:

  • It is one of the fastest growing second generation IITs, that were established in 2008.
  • The institute is well known for its highly flexible branch change policies, curriculum, cutting-edge research, and top-notch placement opportunities.
  • The flexibility in the curriculum can be seen through the wide range of options of dual majors, minors, honors, course range, and short courses.
  • It has ties with several foreign universities and thus provides great study-abroad opportunities to UG, PG, and Ph.D. students in the form of semesters overseas, research internships, summer programs, etc.
  • Another distinctive feature includes harmony between different disciplines with 7 Interdisciplinary Research Centres. All the departments have common research facilities and there isn't any kind of monopoly.
  • The institute highly focuses on Project-oriented-learning that gives the students a practical approach to theoretical concepts.
  • IIT Gandhinagar has some highly renowned faculty and the majority of the professors are PhD holders from top foreign institutes like Cambridge, Harvard, MIT, etc.
  • Another unique initiative is the Non-degree Program wherein students from non-IIT institutes take part-time/full-time courses and get to spend an entire semester at IIT Gandhinagar.

The list is not exhaustive and IIT Gandhinagar indeed is a unique IIT that has made its mark alone without the help of the IIT tag. It focuses on both the professional as well as personal development of its students, faculty, and staff. If you call such fast-paced growth ‘behaving like private colleges’ then it is what it is.
