Do PG's at IIT Kharagpur get single room accommodation?

SG
Senjuti Gupta Posted On : March 22nd, 2023
studied at IIT Kgp

IIT Kharagpur considers its postgraduate students as a very important part of the IIT society and their accommodation is much better than undergraduates. Most postgraduates get single-room occupancy.

Recently, a new girl hostel named Sister Nivedita has been built for postgraduate students. The rooms of this hostel (single room occupancy) are almost 1.5 times bigger than the rooms of other hostels shared by three students. This hostel has better amenities and a much more relaxed environment than the older hostels

Another co-ed hostel in IIT Kharagpur is the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Hall of Residence. This hostel is huge and has the best interiors among all the hostels and is one of the most coveted halls of residence in IIT Kharagpur.

There are some exceptions wherein postgraduate students are given double-sharing rooms in some hostels like the MMM Hall of residence.

How is Bhilai GATE Academy?

S
Shushmita Posted On : February 17th, 2021
Studied B.Com at IBS Hyderabad, 2020

One of my friends attended GATE Academy. Before joining, we read several reviews to know more about GA and decided to join Bhilai GA. But the reality she experienced there was contrary to the reviews. As she reached there, front desk executives helped her to get accommodation. The very next day she reached the classroom before 30 min of time. After spending 4 Hrs in class she realized that the rumors spread on social media are totally wrong. Some of the things she experienced during her time there are discussed below.

Learning Environment :

Totally different as compared to other coaching institutes. Library facilities, as well as assistance provided at Bhilai GA, are really good. Being a GATE student you have to study all the subjects. GATE Academy faculties help you resolve any shortcomings that you have.

Doubt Clarification:

If you are shy about posing a question in the classroom, you can discuss it with the faculty individually.

Practice Book:

For every subject, they have a better practice book with several conceptual questions.

Test Series:

No other institute can defeat them in its test series at present.

Previous Year GATE Solution Book:

You will get this book after you enter. They have a distinct form of approach for solving each and every question.

There are many fake reviewers to misguide you. It's a great Institute. You should go for it.

SB
Susmita Bose Posted On : September 2nd, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra

College life is a whole new world so you need to follow the advice of seniors to ensure you don’t make the same mistakes they did. Here are some tips you can follow that will help you set your priorities right

  • Attend the classes and pay attention right from the first day. One cannot underestimate the knowledge you gain by attending the classes and the time you end up saving. Make sure to get a high CGPA in the first year as it’s easy.
  • Follow the 75% attendance rule religiously and only skip classes that are not very important and won’t get you detained.
  • Socialize with your peers and seniors instead of starting holed up in your room. Discuss everything with your roommates and develop strong bonds with them.
  • NIT Kurukshetra is a ragging-free campus so you can approach your seniors easily for assistance.
  • Explore your non-academic passions too. A number of clubs promote dancing, singing, instrumental music, sports, yoga, dramatics, etc. Be a part of at least one and pursue your passion.
  • Participate in organizing fests as it will help inculcate managerial skills. Particulate in the college fests and showcase your talents. They are a great platform for learning and building confidence.
  • Involve in some sort of physical activity every day to maintain good physical health.

Hope the above tips will help you!

Which NITs are better options than BITS Goa/Hyderabad?

FR
Falguni Raahaman Posted On : August 20th, 2021
B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2020)

NIT Trichy or NIT Warangal is better than BITS G/H. NIT Trichy is extremely good for academics and research purposes. It was placed at the 9th position in the NIRF ranking of the year 2021 released by the ministry of education India. It is also considered to be better than BITS for core branches like Mechanical, Civil, etc. The course fee at NIT Trich is considerably lower than that of BITS.

You can check the placement report of NIT Trichy for the past 2 years in the table given below.

Particulars Salary/ Statistics (2019) Salary/ Statistics (2020)
Placement percentage 95% 90%
Highest Package offered  INR 40 LPA INR 42 LPA
Average Package offered  Rs 4.5 LPA Rs 6.5 LPA
Number of companies visited 220 91
Top Recruiters Godrej, Wipro, HCL, TCS, Amazon Volvo, Wipro, Yahoo, HCL, Ford

On the other hand, BITS focuses more on entrepreneurship and business ideas. NIT Surathkal would also prove to be a pretty good option if you are facing some financial issues with the fee that is charged by BITS. I would place all of the other NITs below BITS Goa/Hyderabad.

How is the SVNIT Campus?

RK
Ravindra Kumar Posted On : January 3rd, 2024
Studied at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat (2019)

SVNIT is one of the few NITs with a campus in the city center. Malls, shops, and movie theaters are all located within a 2 km radius.

The campus is covered in greenery, and the CRC lawns are perfect to sit and relax. The lake and its adjacent garden are on the side, separated by a wall. The campus roads are well constructed.

The infrastructure has been recently renewed and provided with top-notch facilities. Fresher classes are conducted in the huge new CRC building that has glass walls. The senior students study in their respective departments. The hostel facility is average. The sports facilities are also average, but the gym is quite good. Freshers can't access the gym facility.

The campus of SVNIT is good, though there’s always room for improvement. I would recommend you go through some online pictures to get a better idea.
