Can I change a B.Arch branch to any B.Tech branch in IIT Kharagpur?

AS
Atul Sharma Posted On : March 27th, 2023
Works at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP)

Many people go for a certain branch with much surety bog branch change but don’t consider the consequences. It’s highly possible that you may not be able to change your branch and end up with a branch that you did not want to pursue in the first place. These people choose EE at IIT Bombay or Kharagpur when they could have easily taken IIT Hyderabad CSE.

One should not solely rely on branch change and think of the consequences of not being able to change the branch. Will you be able to survive in the branch you chose initially?

I don’t have much idea about IIT KGP’s branch change but I feel it is somewhat similar to IIT Roorkee which I do have an idea about. A Bachelor of Architecture course cannot change their branch to BTech if that’s what you are asking since both are extremely different streams. This concept of branch change misguides many so should be opted for when necessary. I have even heard of changes from BS to BTech.

What should I choose, IIT ROPAR CSE OR IIT GANDHINAGAR CSE OR IIT Roorkee electrical?

DK
Devashish Khanna Posted On : April 15th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (2020)

If I had to choose from IIT Ropar, IIT Gandhinagar, and IIT Roorkee, I would have gone for IIT Ropar. Let’s compare the institutes and their branches individually.

IIT Ropar and IIT Gandhinagar (CS):

  • The CS department of IIT Ropar is much older than the CS department of IIT Gandhinagar.
  • IIT Ropar has 73 seats in CSE while IIT Gandhinagar has only 38, this is why the Closing rank of IIT Gandhinagar was better last year, while the Opening Rank of IIT Ropar is better.
  • IIT Ropar was ranked 22 by NIRF while IIT Gandhinagar was ranked 23.

IIT Ropar CS and IIT Roorkee EE:

  • Those who opt for IIT Roorkee EE will eventually end up in CS and in fact, they will have to invest double the efforts than IIT Rapor CS.
  • Students who take EE will have to complete an EE course along with studying CS in their free time to prepare for placements.
  • EE students will have to compete with CS students in placements because Software companies will prefer CS or ECE students over EE students.

All in all, IIT Ropar CSE offers better job opportunities, and thus the general preference order looks like

IIT Ropar CSE >> IIT Roorkee EE >~ IIT GN CSE.

Which campus is better, IIT Hyderabad or IIT Bhubaneswar?

SB
Soumyaraaj Banerjee Posted On : April 22nd, 2022
M.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad

IIT Bhubaneswar campus is better. It is situated at the foot of Brunei Hill. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the campus offers a serene environment. Campus facilities are also pretty good. Students are given single rooms.

IIT Hyderabad has moved to its permanent campus. But construction is still going on. Phase 2 of construction is expected to be completed by December 2022.

How can I (average student) pass in the first year MBBS examination RGUHS?

SG
Shreya Goyal, Posted On : November 2nd, 2021
MBBS Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital (2018)

Passing in the first-year MBBS examination RGUHS requires a bit of tip and tricks. If you are an average student try following these as it could be helpful.

  • Buy a companion (Yatiraj Singhi) and mark all RS2 and RS3 questions in the textbooks (focussing more on RS3) and read that much only.
  • To pass it is not necessary to study the complete syllabus.
  • Read All 3 markers questions from previous 5-year question papers, you can get it from the library or seniors.
  • Your target should be to score at least 22+ of the given 30. Once you have scored it, you need to score is 28 more to pass the exams.
  • For this, you are left with 5 and 10 marker questions, which means that you have to score 28 out of 70.
  • Try scoring 3 marks each from the questions you know. You are done with 18 more marks.
  • For the rest of the 4 questions, you should write it in such a way that you manage to score at least 1.5 - 2 marks for each question.
  • For this, you should make diagrams and write a bit about them.
  • Your strategy is to not waste much time on 10 markers while studying but to focus more on diagrams and flowcharts.

MCQs will also be there which come under the same high-scoring category but they could come from any part of the book.

How is the environment at MANIT Bhopal?

SB
Surendra Bose Posted On : November 11th, 2023
Studied at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal

MANIT Bhopal is a prestigious institute, and JEE aspirants work hard to get into it.

Here is all you need to know about the environment at MANIT-

  • Coding Culture/Environment- The coding culture at MANIT isn’t great, to be honest. A lot of the students aren’t even interested in learning programming. But around 60% of the CS batch consists of dedicated coders who work hard and pave their path all by themselves.
  •  Cultural Environment- The campus has various cultural societies/clubs. Students from all over India join this college each year.
  •  Sports Environment- This college is very good for sports enthusiasts. It has its own cricket, volleyball, football, basketball and kabaddi teams. The college teams take part in inter-NIT competitions and regional-level competitions.
  •  Academics- The academic environment is not that good, but still better than many NITs. But infrastructure, labs, and faculty have all improved in the past few years. The students of MANIT are hardworking and ambitious.

Though MANIT has its fair share of shortcomings, it is a good place for growth and learning. Also, in the past few years, things have changed a lot for the better.

How is EEE branch in VNIT, Nagpur?

MD
Mohor Dutta Posted On : November 3rd, 2023
B.Tech from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur (2019)

In comparison to MNNIT, MANIT and other colleges with similar cutoffs, VNIT Nagpur is better for B.Tech Electrical.

The Electrical faculty of VNIT consists of highly experienced teachers. The course curriculum is well defined, and contains one Electronics subject for every semester. The department labs are well equipped for use.

The department records good placements, and brands like Siemens, Reliance, Bajaj, Pepsico, SunPharma, etc. visit for recruiting B.Tech EEE students. Sometimes, PSUs also visit the department for placements.Core companies offer around 6 LPA and PSUs offer around 17 LPA (including allowances) to B.Tech EEEstudents. Many IT companies visiting the campus are open for EEE students.

The campus life and college environment are good, and various events take place throughout the year. There are numerous clubs on campus.

Thus, VNIT Nagpur is a good option for B.Tech EEE.

How is NIT Patna for architecture?

Namrata Das Posted On : August 31st, 2023

Here are some points about the Architecture Department of NIT Patna that you should know-

  • Teaching- Unlike IITs, the professors show no interest in teaching. They don’t really bother about the students’ growth and learning. As a result, the students lose interest in classroom learning after a while.
  • Lab Facility - The labs are quite good, but they are not open all the time due to safety issues.
  • Library- The department library has very limited access, limited books and no latest books. There is no AC and no digital library. You can only access hardcopies and sit for maximum 3-4 hours, that too on request.

The central library has an even more limited collection of Architecture books.

  • Material Lab- The material lab is rarely opened.
  • Cafeteria - The department doesn’t have a cafeteria. You’ll have to use the main canteen.
  • Toilets- The toilets are old, smelly, tiny and without lights.
  • Drinking Water- The department lacks good drinking water facilities.
  • Office Staff- The office staff isn’t supportive or helpful at all.

Basically, the Architecture Department of NIT Patna is not good. You shouldn’t consider this college for your architectural studies.
