TA

Lives in New Delhi

The ‘better’ institute of the two; IIT Roorkee and IIIT Hyderabad is very subjective and depends on individual goals and preferences. However, you can draw a general comparison between the two based on some common factors like

  • Academics: IIIT-H has better professors and academic environment in comparison to IIT Roorkee. The professors are more experienced and adopt better pedagogy.
  • Research: IIIT-H is known for its excellent research culture in the field of AI and vision. Some centers like Robotics Research Center (RRC) are ranked (by publications) among the top labs in Asia in their respective field. So research-wise, IIIT Hyderabad is the best.
  • Placements: The placement scenario at IIIT Hyderabad is almost at par with top engineering institutes of the country like IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi.

Particulars

IIIT Hyderabad

IIT Roorkee

Number of Recruiters

50+

265

Highest CTC

INR 74 LPA

INR 2.15 CPA

Top Companies

Bloomberg, Code Nation, Deloitte, Facebook, Google, HSBC, Indeed

Accenture Japan Ltd, Amazon, Bank of America, Microsoft

  • Alumni and Brand value: In contrast to the general misconception, IITs are not the only reputable engineering institutes and IIITs are fast catching up in the race. The alumni of IIIT Hyderabad and its branch value are almost at par with old IITs.

I hope the above points suffice to claim IIIT Hyderabad is a better option than IIT Roorkee. It’s high time we stop running after IIT tags and look for the genuine worth of an Institute.

Is there a specialization for Human Resource Management at the ISB in Hyderabad?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : February 14th, 2023
Professional and Adviser of HR Observations

It is important to note that the Indian School of Business (ISB) does not offer a specific course structure that trains students to become Human Resource Managers. The Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP) at ISB is a general management program that covers various aspects of business, including human resources. However, the Fellow Program in Management does have an area called Organizational Behaviour and Strategy which is closely related to Human Resource Management.

While at ISB, students have the opportunity to take subjects related to human resources such as Strategy and Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Healthcare, Public Policy, and Strategic Performance Management. Additionally, ISB hosts a 2-3 day program for executives that focuses on linking human resources with business strategy. However, this program cannot be considered a specialization.

If you are specifically looking to specialize in Human Resource Management, you may want to consider other business schools such as the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, XLRI Jamshedpur, Xavier Institute of Management Bhubhaneshwar, or Xavier Institute of Social Service Ranchi, which offer full-time courses in Human Resource Management. Additionally, there are short certification programs offered by organizations such as Talent Management Institute, HR Certification Institute, Society for Human Resource Management, and Human Capital Institute, which could be a good option for working professionals looking to change their field of work or add HR credentials to their CVs. These programs are also cheaper than regular full-time courses.

Should I spend 2 lakhs on a certification course from IIM Lucknow and Wiley in Product Management? However, I would want to change my job role from Business Development to Product. Is this a good way?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : January 16th, 2023

You should not spend 2 lakhs on a product management certification course from IIM Lucknow and Wiley. There are several reasons for this:

  • A certification course only provides you with a certificate, not actual skills.
  • Product managers are never hired based on their certifications. That is something that no company ever does.
  • Theoretical skills are frequently taught in most B schools. Companies today have little time and patience for such talent unless you want to start as a fresher.
  • Consider the product management certificate to be an add-on rather than a core feature. This is the most important mental shift to make to get things started right.

If you want to move into product management, you should take the following steps:

  • Learn the fundamentals.
  • Begin observing your surroundings.
  • Begin to wonder why some things work and others don't.
  • Begin writing. Writing clarifies things. A product manager's most important skill is writing.
  • Next, analyze a product (any of your favorites) to understand the user experience and product decisions (for example, why did WhatsApp launch the basic group admin feature after so many years, why did hike shut down despite massive funding/userbase, and so on).

Recognize that product management is a skill, and that there is a HIGH demand for skilled professionals. Where you begin (as a newcomer vs. an experienced professional) is determined by your ability to learn.

Where do I get a PDF of the engineering chemistry book for the Anna University exams?

PS
Prabu Sundarm Posted On : December 16th, 2022
B.E in Mechanical Engineering, Government College of Engineering (An Autonomous Institution affiliated to Anna University) , Salem (Graduated 2014)

Being a student of Anna University, you should first consult your Chemistry teacher for the study materials. You can also ask your seniors to recommend some books for the same. There is a chance that they might inform you of a PDF that will help you get good marks.

Apart from this, some websites that provide PDFs are

  1. Library Genesis

  2. PDF Drive - Search and download PDF files for free.

Both these websites will help you gain access to the required PDFs. Another simple option is to simply browse google and look for the pdf of the book.

  • Several Student Exchange Programs from foreign universities are offered to facilitate international exposure
  • CSIR-CBRI is present inside the campus to coordinate with the Civil department to provide an excellent research environment.
  • The civil engineering branch has an extensive alumni pool comprising many flag bearers of the institute like Sir James Thomason( constructor of Ganga Canal ), Sir Ganga Ram, Lawrence William Durell (constructor of Darjeeling Mountain railway), Ajudhia Nath Khosla ( builder of Bhakra-Nangal Dam and Hirakud Dam), Jai Krishna( eminent Earthquake Engineer), to the present Prashant Rao and Mangu Singh ( Director & MD of Delhi Metro Railway Corporation ), etc

Can I take metallurgy in MNIT Jaipur and do coding to get a good placement?

SG
Souvick Gupta Posted On : October 10th, 2023
MNIT Jaipur

You’ll find ample students at MNIT Jaipur who wanted to pursue CS but ended up in Metallurgy. This happens because of low JEE Mains rank or wrong choice filling.

You can maintain good grades and simultaneously practice coding to secure a good IT job. While some IT companies are open exclusively to CSE and ECE students, others give equal opportunity to all the branches. Metallurgy at MNIT doesn’t offer good core placements, so its students mostly end up in non core jobs.

You can definitely take up Metallurgy at MNIT and work on your coding skills side by side.

Kumar Vishwas joined MNNIT Allahabad and later proceeded to drop out. He has mentioned about his drop out during his poetry conventions.

Before getting its NIT status, MNNIT was known as the renowned Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering college (MLNR). According to Kumar Vishwas, he joined the college to fulfill his father’s wish and become an Engineer. But machines couldn’t catch his interest.

What are the marks 2 required to get a B Com seat in Loyola College?

NS
Neeraj Sharma Posted On : October 4th, 2021
B.A Economics,Loyola College,Chennai

B.Com is one of the most sought-after groups at Loyola and the competition for a seat is fierce. There are reservations if you are a member of the SC/ST or a Roman Catholic. More than 60% of the seats are filled with this.

If you are from a different religion and fall under the general category, for the morning shift, the expected cutoff ranges from 95 to 99 percent.

Being a minority college founded with the goal of supporting the educational goals of young Catholics, preference is given to RC priority.

This is a guideline for general cut-offs and it changes year to year based on overall results, but your achievements in sports, dance, NCC, and other activities might help you have greater opportunities than others.
