For B.Tech and dual degree, IIT Madras placements are good for Chemical Engineering. Chemical research firms, Fuel oil companies, and gasoline companies from around the country and abroad visit the institute for placements. PSUs like ONGC also recruit from the branch.
Non-core companies from Finance, Technical and Mechanical sectors are also open to Chemical Engineering. IIT Madras Chemical Engineering has a median CTC of around INR 11.5 LPA.
BIT Mesra offers 2 undergraduate and 1 postgraduate program in chemical engineering; BE in Chemical Engineering, BE in Chemical Engineering (Plastics and Polymer), and ME in Chemical Engineering.

According to the student’s reviews online, you should not opt for chemical engineering at NIT Rourkela.
Here are some reasons as to why:
Lastly, the placement scenario of this department is bad. Most of the students are going into the IT sector and a very few got recruited in core industries and many students did not even receive placement offers.
So considering everything it is suggested you do not pursue chemical engineering at NIT Rourkela.
Both NIT Warangal and BITS Hyderabad/Goa are enormous and well-known colleges. If you choose either of them for a particular field it will be worth it. Just make sure of that in whichever college you are, give your best and you shall lead to success.
Both the colleges stand equally in terms of academics and placement statistics.
Categories | Chemical Engineering at NIT Warangal | Chemical Engineering at BITS (Hyderabad/Goa) |
Course Fee | 5.00 lakh | 19.19 lakh |
Highest CTC | 20 LPA | 25 LPA |
Average CTC | 7 LPA | 10 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Aditya Birla, ITC, Cipla, Dr. Reddy Pharmaceutical, etc. | Deccan Chemicals, Pfizer, Shell, Honeywell, etc. |
Further, I would advise you for NIT as it has less fees so there will be less burden on you and your family. Faculties are good in NIT as well. You will get the NIT brand associated with you which is very prestigious.
According to the reviews online, here are some of the facts about both these colleges, and which one will be the better choice for pursuing chemical engineering.
Categories | Nirma University | PDPU |
Course Fee | INR 7.24 lakh | INR 9.73 lakh |
Placement Percentage | 70% | 80% |
Highest CTC | 13 LPA | 8-12 LPA |
Average CTC | 6-7 LPA | 7-7.5 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Reliance, L&T, Worley Engineering, Jubilant Life Sciences, etc. | Super Gas, GSFC, Thermax, DCM Shriram, etc. |
Therefore, it is suggested that you go for PDPU if fees are not your primary concern. Students at PDPU will definitely get better opportunities for chemical engineering than Nirma. Even if Nirma is a more experienced institution, the newer approach of PDPU will always help you get accustomed to the functioning in today’s industries.
As one of my friends studied at NIT Trichy, I might favor it among the others. Also I do not have much idea about the other mentioned colleges. Do interact with some ex-students of these colleges to get a proper understanding of them.

Therefore, it is suggested that you go for Chemical Engineering at NIT Trichy. It is a reputed institution and will help you in shaping your future ahead. It is the best among all the NITs.
I have a few friends from the Chemical Engineering department at Jadavpur University. According to them, the placement record from the branch has been good in recent years.
Some of the reputed companies that visit the campus for Chemical Engineering students are Cairn India, ITC, Axens, BPCL, etc. The packages offered for Chemical Engineering students range from 5-17 LPA. In the 2021 placement drive, the average CTC offered at the institute was 19 LPA.
For Chemical Engineering, St. Joseph Engineering College is average at best.
St. Joseph is a decent option for Chemical Engineering. But if you have better choices, go for them.
Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai Chemical Engineering and VJTI CS, both has good placement record.
It’s not really possible to compare Chemical industry giants like BASF to tech giants like Google or Microsoft. Since the placements are good for both options, you should choose the institute according to your branch preference.
IISc offers excellent research opportunities for Chemical Engineering. It is well-known for multidisciplinary research in the field. So, if you aspire to be in a research-oriented career, then IISc will be the right option.
But if you want a job with good pay, after completing the course, then ICT Mumbai is better. Around 70% of students get placed each from the branch, each year. According to the recent highlights of ICT Mumbai, the average CTC offered for Chemical Engineering is around INR 6-7 LPA.
