I got 222 in my NMAT exam, what is my conversion chance for NMIMS Mumbai?

AD
Anuraag Das Posted On : April 25th, 2023
Studied at MBA from NMIMS (2020)

NMIMS Mumbai is one of the top-ranked business schools in India, and securing admission to this institute can be a highly competitive process. While your NMAT score is impressive, the final admission decision depends on various other factors as well. Here are some key points to consider when assessing your conversion chances for NMIMS Mumbai:

  • Cutoff Percentile: NMIMS Mumbai has a cutoff percentile for the NMAT exam, which varies each year based on factors such as the number of applicants and the difficulty level of the exam. In general, the cutoff percentile for NMIMS Mumbai is around 94-95 percentile. However, meeting the cutoff percentile is just the first step towards securing admission, as the institute also takes into account other factors such as academic performance, work experience, and performance in the Personal Interview (PI) and Group Discussion (GD) rounds.
  • Work Experience: NMIMS Mumbai values candidates with work experience, as it helps to bring a diverse range of perspectives to the classroom. If you have work experience, it can give you an edge over other candidates and increase your chances of getting selected.
  • Academic Performance: Your academic performance in your undergraduate degree is also an important factor that is considered during the admission process. NMIMS Mumbai looks for candidates with a strong academic record, particularly in quantitative subjects such as Mathematics and Statistics.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Your involvement in extracurricular activities, such as sports, cultural events, or volunteering, can also be a plus point in your application. NMIMS Mumbai looks for well-rounded candidates who can contribute to the institute's community beyond academics.
  • Interview Performance: The Personal Interview (PI) and Group Discussion (GD) rounds play a crucial role in the final admission decision. Your communication skills, knowledge of current affairs, and overall personality are assessed during these rounds. It's essential to prepare well for these rounds and showcase your strengths and achievements confidently.

In conclusion, with a score of 222 on the NMAT exam, you have a good chance of meeting the cutoff percentile for NMIMS Mumbai. However, securing admission also depends on other factors such as academic performance, work experience, and performance in the PI and GD rounds. It's essential to prepare well and present your best self during the admission process.

Should I take electrical engineering in new IITs like Ropar, Patna, and Dhanbad or physics in old IITs like Kharagpur and Roorkee or computer science at NIT Hamirpur?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : June 21st, 2023

Anyone getting admission to any IIT should not consider NITs then. It’s true that the old IITs have better infrastructure and brand value than tier-2 IITs but these new IITs are still in their development stage and haven’t reached their conclusion. Considering their huge growth over the past decade, they will reach new heights in the future

The new IITs provide better opportunities and freedom to students as the foundation of the college isn’t very strong so they build it alongside. The students grow and develop their personalities along with the growing institute. There is no compromise in the quality of education as the faculty is recruited after tremendous filtering.

The branch is more important than the college so don’t choose a less preferred branch in an old IIT just for the brand value rather go for the branch of your choice in a new IIT.

As for Physics, it requires genuine commitment and interest. Go for it only if you are certain of a career in it as the options in this branch are limited in contrast to Electrical Engineering. That being said, IIT Ropar is one of the best second-generation IITs, and its curriculum is very flexible and the location is also great. So my final recommendation would be to go for IIT Ropar Electrical.

How is the civil branch at NIT Jalandhar?

MT
Manvendra Thakur Posted On : December 3rd, 2022
B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh (Graduated 2020)

To know how the Civil branch at NIT Jalandhar is, we need to consider 3 factors:

  1. Academic: The theoretical subjects are well taught by top notch faculty. The labs are however not in very good condition here.

  2. Internships: There are not great internship opportunities here. Students themselves are not interested in spending their summers at the site.

  3. Placements: L&T is the major recruiter in private companies for civil engineers .For public jobs you need to appear for GATE for PSUs. If you have completed any internship, then placements will be very easy for you.

All in all NIT Jalandhar is a great choice to pursue Civil Engineering.

Is GMC Mumbai overrated?

AG
Akriti Gupta Posted On : October 4th, 2023
lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

JJ Hospital offers excellent clinical exposure. It treats diverse cases from across the globe. The hospital handles many high-profile and medico-legal cases. You will be offered ample opportunities to practice and hone your skills.

GMC offers good extracurricular exposure. You can participate in various activities like sports, dance, music, fashion shows, etc. The college fest ‘Astitva’ goes on for a week each year. The college has its own inter-department cricket team, basketball team, etc. Sports competitions for football, basketball, throw ball, badminton, etc. are held every year. The GMC band has singers, guitarists, drummers, flute players, etc. GMC students win most years in inter-college fashion shows across Mumbai.

Other than that, GMC hosts plenty of symposiums, debates, competitions, and academic seminars. For UG-level academics though, GSMC is much better. The undergraduate-level teaching over there is more organized and methodical.

GMC Mumbai isn’t overrated at all. It will help you become an excellent medical professional, given that you work hard and learn diligently.
