What is the performance of students in NEET PG after the MBBS course in KMC, Manipal?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : September 30th, 2023

NEET PG is like any other entrance exam. So the UG college doesn’t really matter when giving your PG entrance.

But it is true that your clinical postings have a bearing on the things you remember when reading your preparation material. Your exposure to clinical signs, diagnosis, radiological findings, and surgical procedures makes you remember things. A dedicated faculty, motivated peers, and hardworking seniors will have a huge impact on you. Good seniors offer tips and tricks on cracking entrance exams.

Coming to KMC Manipal, it is a premiere institute. It is at par with most government medical colleges. The alumni of this college can vouch for its good academics and campus life.

You’ll have to prepare for your PG with efficiency and diligence. Your UG college won’t have much of a role in this regard. KMC Manipal is a good choice for an MBBS, and it will offer you all the facilities and exposure.

What is the difference between a regular IGNOU course and a distance IGNOU course?

PP
Pratikshit Pandey Posted On : November 1st, 2022
studied at Management Development Institute, Gurgaon

One of my friends had a very bad experience in IGNOU. She applied for CCP which has 6 months of certification but the university allowed 2 years to complete it.

She wanted to complete the course within 6 months so she appeared on all the exams on time. She had to follow up with her professors for project work daily. After she did submit her project, they lost it. After 5-6 months the Delhi branch called to inform her that her project was not good enough. Apart from this episode, she shared more drawbacks she faced:

  • Out of 8-10 classes only 3 were conducted.

  • They took 6-7 months to inform her that the project wasn’t good.

  • She did not receive any books and had to get them personally by visiting the centre 4-5 times

  • They increased the fees suddenly in the second year

She scored 1st division in CCP but did not get the certificate for the same. So it’s not recommended for you to do PGDCA from IGNOU.

What are some things to do a month before joining an MBA from IMT, Ghaziabad?

MB
Mridul Bagani Posted On : January 25th, 2023
PGDM Finance from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (Graduated 2018)

The campus life at IMT Ghaziabad is very stressful and fast-paced. You need to prepare for this well beforehand so that you don’t end up in a slump. I have listed a few skills you can adopt to make your best time in IMT Ghaziabad.

  • Time management: This is the most crucial skill you need to inculcate before joining IMT Ghaziabad or any other B School. You cannot make the best use of all the opportunities offered until you know how to manage and prioritize your time. The first year is packed with assignments, group projects, case readings, committee work, competitions, and mid-term assessments. You need to learn to manage your time to make the best out of these.
  • Presentation skills: These include skills to use software tools like MS PowerPoint, Prezi, etc. to create a visually effective presentation. You can also work on your presentation delivery skills.
  • Data Analysis: The pedagogy for most courses is case-based that will include appendices of financials. Apart from this, most companies today are data-driven, and having specialization in the same will only increase your profile and potential.
  • Social Skills: IMT Ghaziabad batch size is usually bigger than other B Schools. The more people the more variety of backgrounds you will be dealing with. So it's best you prepare yourself to interact with them both informally and formally during Group Discussions and committee events.

Apart from acquiring the above skills, take extra care of your physical and mental health, get lots of sleep and spend time with your family

How would you rank the following colleges (placement-wise): NIT Trichy, DTU, NSIT, BITS Pilani, best IIIT and IIT Jodhpur?

HJ
Harshita Jain Posted On : September 6th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli

Based on the placement record, the following is the ranking of the mentioned institutes:

NSIT> IIIT H> DTU> BITS Pilani> NIT Trichy> IIT Jodhpur

  • NSIT and DTU are situated in Delhi and they tend to attract more companies. The crowd is more eloquent as most of them are from Delhi schools and raised in the city.
  • Since NSIT is only 30 minutes away from Delhi International Airport, it is the first port of call for companies.
  • IIIT Hyderabad has also produced some excellent programmers and has connections with IT firms in Bangalore and Hyderabad. As a result, the placements are superb.

Other IIITs, aside from IIIT Hyderabad, have struggled to establish a strong identity over the years. When it comes to brand equity, you can't go wrong with NIT, NSIT, DTU, BITS Pilani, and IIIT.

It must be noted that placement changes from year to year, department to department, and from company to firm. There is no entrance for placements and it is defined by a number of characteristics such as no. of seats, work experience, confidence, knowledge, etc.

Which college is academically best among NITK Surathkal, VNIT Nagpur and COEP?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : November 3rd, 2023

Here are some things you should consider while making a choice-

  • Branch- Choose the branch of your interest, instead of giving preference to brand name.
  • Crowd- Try reaching out to the students from these colleges, and find out the kind of projects they are working on.
  • Alumni Base- Research on the alumni network of these colleges, and where all the alumni have worked and studied.
  • Visiting Companies- Research on the top 5 companies that recruit from the college (from the branch of your interest). Find out the median package offered to the students of your branch.
  • Infrastructure and faculty- Research on faculty qualification, and the projects they are working on. This will be useful in getting recommended when applying abroad. Research on the lab facilities.
  • Campus life and exposure- Research on the campus life of each college.

COEP does not stand at par with the other two colleges. You’ll have to choose between NITK and VNIT Nagpur. You must choose between the two based on the branch of your interest.

What are the pros and cons of MTech in CSE at IIIT Bangalore?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : October 7th, 2023

The iMTech in CSE is a highly regarded and unique program offered by IIIT Bangalore offering excellent exposure to its students. Here are the pros and cons of pursuing this course

Pros:

  • IIIT Bangalore has a very diverse and talented peer group because it has no reservation policy.
  • The placements have been spectacular from the first batch itself when the median package stood at INR 14.7 LPA.
  • IIIT Bangalore is known for its highly experienced and talented faculty. Their profiles are at par with IIT and NIT professors and are also very approachable.
  • Located in the IT hub, IIIT Bangalore students receive internship offers from many top firms and IT Giants.
  • The college has excellent campus and hostel facilities and every minor inconvenience is taken care of.

Cons:

  • The college is CS-oriented and gives little importance to sports and other extracurricular activities. Students are more involved in hackathons and other coding competitions.

  • IIIT Bangalore operates from a very small campus of only 10 acres.
  • The course offered is a 5-year course rather than the usual 4-year course which requires you to spend an extra year doing an internship or a thesis.
  • IIIT Bangalore does not enjoy a very good reputation among recruiters yet mainly because it’s newly established.
  • It’s very expensive and the cost of the first year fees of the integrated program is INR ?3.84 Lakhs.

Considering everything, IIIT Bangalore will take a few more years to establish itself and therefore should only be considered if you have no better options.

Can you become a professor in IIMs or IITs after FPM from new IIMs, like Rohtak or Raipur?

BR
Biplab Roy Posted On : January 21st, 2023
MBA Strategy and Operations, Indian Institute of Management Raipur

Becoming a professor from the new IIMs is definitely possible but rare. The FPM program offered at the new IIMs has varied peers some being freshers while some with Masters from foreign universities.

The following things matter when selecting an Assistant Professor in a new IIM

  • Your experience
  • The quality of your papers

The chances are rare because most of the new IIMs have professors who have done Ph.D. from older IIMs like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta. Ph.D. is a program that totally depends on your performance and research. The initial years focus solely on research training and cannot be enough to make you eligible for faculty positions.

So your chances are rare but not null.

What are the pros and cons of joining IIM Kashipur?

CP
Chetna Pandey Posted On : January 13th, 2023
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (2017)

There are various pros and cons of joining IIM Kashipur:

Pros:

Located at a wonderful intersection of industry (300+ operational plants of companies like Parle, Titan, Mahindra, Dabur, and others), tourism (places like Corbett National Park, Nainital, Mussorie, and so on), and agriculture (sugar cane producers, agricultural university, and so on), there is a lot of scope for multidisciplinary learning and management education application.

The new campus has 200+ acres of sprawling lush greenery as well as all relevant amenities. IIM Kashipur was the first to do so. Among the new IIMs with the highest number of international placements/summer internships and comparable, if not better, overall placements than all other new IIMs. IIM Kashipur is a place for fostering new ideas and feeling satisfied when they come to fruition.

Cons:

If you believe in a traditional legacy-driven culture, and the comfort of having a tremendously established alumni pool, then IIM Kashipur may be suitable for you but after 10 years or so.

If you like to contribute new ideas and believe in working towards them, or maybe in organizing events as formative batches to make them a legacy for your juniors to carry forward, then IIM Kashipur is the place for you.
