GATE Engineering Sciences (XE) Exam for the year 2023 conducted on February 11, 2023. Candidates can expect the notification for the exam to be released in the month of july 2022. Registration process will tentatively close in the month of October 2022.

  • Paper Code for GATE Engineering Sciences is ‘XE’. If the candidates choose XE (Engineering Sciences) as their first paper, then they can choose second paper from any of the following: AE (Aerospace Engineering), CH (Chemical Engineering), ME (Mechanical Engineering), MN (Mining Engineering), MT (Metallurgical Engineering), PE (Petroleum Engineering), PI (Production and Industrial Engineering) and TF (Textile Engineering and Fibre Science).
  • More than 9 lakh candidates apply for the GATE Exam every year. Candidates have to find the best coaching centres to crack the GATE Exam. After clearing GATE XE Exam, candidates have to apply for counselling.

GATE XE Exam Pattern

GATE Engineering Sciences (XE) Exam Pattern

Exam Pattern for GATE Engineering Sciences (XE) for the year 2023 should be known to all the candidates applying for this Exam. Some important features of the Exam Pattern are given below.

Question Paper is of 100 marks having 65 questions (10 questions of General Aptitude, 11 questions of Engineering Mathematics, rest questions from core parts of the paper). The Question Paper includes two types of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NATs).

Duration of the exam is 3 Hours. For MCQs, â…“ marks will be deducted for 1 marks questions, ½ marks will be deducted for 2 marks questions. There will be no negative marking for NATs.

  • Exam Pattern and Syllabus: Candidates must know the exam pattern and syllabus for this exam. All the important topics and marking scheme should be known to the candidate for best exam preparation. Weightage and Difficulty level of the topics should be divided by the candidate.

GATE Engineering Sciences (XE) Admissions

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must follow below eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates must qualify education according to 10+2+3 allowing final year UG students to appear for the exam.
  • Candidates having Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology will be considered eligible.
  • There is no age limit.
  • International students should have completed or are pursuing final year studies or in the pre-final year of their bachelor’s degree in engineering and technology or equivalent are eligible to apply.

Admission Process

Candidates have to visit the official website of GATE Exam and register themselves for their Exam. They have to get their admit card so that they can enter in their exam. They have to appear for the exam in the forenoon session for the GATE Exam. According to the Exam Dates, the result will be declared after the exam by which the candidates would know about their result. After clearing the exam, they can apply for the counselling process on the official website of the Exam.
