GATE 2023 Geomatics Engineering (GE) Exam Pattern has been released on the official website. As per GATE 2023 Geomatics Engineering (GE) Exam Pattern, the question paper is divided into three sections- General Aptitude, Part A and Part B. Students have to compulsorily attempt Part A while out of Part B, they can attempt any one section out of two: Section I and Section II.

GATE Geomatics Engineering (GE) is a new paper introduced by IIT Kharagpur in 2022. This paper basically checks the aspirants’ geomatics skills. Geomatics is a specialised field of study. It entails gathering and analysing geospatial data and processes of land, oceans, natural and manmade infrastructures, as well as measuring, creating, constructing, and operating systems for doing so. In order to accomplish so, geomatics professionals use the most up-to-date satellite, laser, acoustic, and information technology.

The General Aptitude section is common for all the GATE exam and has 10 questions devoted to this section. This section is of total 15 marks thus constituting 15% weightage of the total weightage of paper. Geomatics Engineering Part A (compulsory) has 36 questions and is of total 55 marks, thus constituting 55% weightage of the total weightage of paper. Similarly, Part B (Section I or Section II) has 19 questions and is of total 30 marks, thus constituting 30% weightage of the total weightage of paper. Check GATE Geomatics Engineering Syllabus

  • GATE Geomatics Engineering (GE) Question Paper consists of 65 questions of a total of 100 marks.
  • Candidates appearing for the exam receive 1 or 2 marks for each correct answer in the exam depending upon the question. However, they should keep in mind that each incorrect answer deducts 1/3 marks for a 1-mark question, and 2/3 marks for a 2 marks question.
  • Students who chose to appear for Geomatics Engineering (GE) as their primary (first) paper for GATE 2023 are eligible to appear for Civil Engineering (CE), Geology and Geophysics (GG), Environmental Science & Engineering (ES), or Mining Engineering (MN) as their secondary paper.
