NIOS DELED is a 2 year skill development course for teachers who are not properly trained and thus cannot be serviceable. NIOS DELEd aims to provide skills, competencies, attitudes and understanding to these teachers for making them better prepared for providing education.

NIOS DElEd: What is it?

NIOS DElEd is a deled distance course from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) designed for untrained teachers who are currently serving as a teacher in primary and upper primary schools. The DElEd course by the National Institute of Open Schooling is available across India.

NIOS DElEd Admission Process

To apply for NIOS DElEd Admission, students will need to visit the official website of NIOS DElEd from where they can download the application form.

NIOS DElEd Admission registration is held twice a year
Applicants need to fill in the application form with appropriate details, upload the required documents, and pay the registration fee. The payment needs to be made either online or offline mode.
Candidates are required to download their NIOS DElEd hall ticket a week before the exam from the official website of NIOS.

NIOS DElEd Eligibility Criteria

Only on-duty teachers are eligible to pursue NIOS DElEd courses. These are the general criteria for every category. Apart from it, here is the rest of the criteria that you need to know about.

For Primary: The minimum eligibility criteria is 10+2/HS with 50% marks in aggregate. 5% relaxation for SC/ST/PH/OBC.
For Upper Primary: The minimum eligibility criteria is graduation in any stream.

NIOS DElEd: Course and Exam Fees

The NIOS DElEd exam fee is INR 6,000 per year or INR 3,000 every semester. Apart from this, an INR 250 payment needs to be made while registering for admission. The payment can be made via debit card, credit card, or net banking
To appear for the NIOS DElEd examination, candidates need to pay an exam fee of INR 250 per subject. In the event of late registration, the charge will be INR 350 per subject along with a minimal late fee.

Ques. Can I get a job as a teacher after completing NIOS DElEd?

Ans. No. NIOS DElEd is only valid for candidates who are already working as a professional teacher in any institution or organization but doesn’t have any formal teacher’s training.

Ques. Can art teachers apply for NIOS DElEd courses?

Ans. Yes, any teacher who is presently teaching elementary grade in any institution or organization can pursue NIOS DElEd

Ques. Does an elementary teacher who is also TET qualified need to complete the D.El.Ed. Course?

Ans. Yes, Teachers who have completed BEd and wants to teach at the Primary level needs to undergo a 6 months bridge course recognized by the NCTE

Ques. Can guest teachers apply for the NIOS DElEd course?

Ans. Yes, any untrained elementary teachers who are in service can apply for this course.

Ques. Are teachers from unrecognized schools eligible for this course?

Ans. Teachers working in schools that have been recognized under Section 2(n) of the RTE Act 2009 are eligible for this course,

Ques. Are Madrasa teachers eligible for NIOS DElEd Course?

Ans. In-service teachers working in schools that have been recognized under Section 2(n) of the RTE Act 2009 can pursue this course. The course is available in 12-different languages,

Ques. Are Shastri and Drawing teachers who are working in Govt/ Govt-aided/Private unaided recognized schools eligible for DElEd course?

Ans. Yes, all untrained elementary teachers teaching in schools as defined under Section 2( n) of the RTE Act 2009 and recruited as per RTE Act 2009 can take admission in D.El.Ed course.

Ques. Is DElEd course mandatory?

Ans. DElEd is mandatory for all in-service teachers at the primary level and for graduate only teachers at the upper primary level. This has been implied in accordance with the necessary qualifications mandated by NCTE under the RTE Act, 2009.
