  • MSc in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Auburn University is a 2 year, 33-credit program.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
  • The program is structured to strengthen knowledge of science and engineering with an emphasis on the business skills necessary to successfully run an international manufacturing or service related company.
  • The thesis is supervised by an advisor (a graduate faculty member in the ISE department) and an advisory committee (at least two other graduate faculty members).
  • Students are responsible for selecting an advisor and, together with the advisor, developing the thesis idea and plan of study. Students typically select an advisor after the first or second semester of coursework and the student and advisor together select the additional committee members. In general, this degree option is not available to outreach students.
  • Industrial and systems engineers design and improve processes to make work safer, faster, easier and more rewarding in service industries, entertainment companies, shipping and logistics businesses and healthcare organizations.
  • Whether shortening a rollercoaster line, streamlining an operating room, distributing products worldwide or manufacturing superior automobiles, industrial and systems engineers face the challenge and common goal of saving money and increasing efficiency.
  • Students choose the M.S. degree when they prefer to complete a research project and write a thesis in lieu of some course work.
