Work-Study

Students with F-1 status are eligible to work on campus. Ques. Can I submit scholarship applications after the priority dates?

You can still apply for scholarships after the priority date. There are some scholarships awarded even after the first round if any of them are remaining.

Ques. What are the requirements for scholarship renewal?

Scholarship renewal requirements are based on the scholarship that is awarded to the student. You can visit the award description in my.UAH for award specific renewal information.

Ques. Am I guaranteed a house when I apply for accommodations?

Students who meet the first-year full-time undergraduate housing requirement are guaranteed on-campus housing. All other students are assigned housing based on the date of application and space availability.

Ques. Can I change my room after a room is assigned to me?

You can request a room change before moving in, by contacting the university housing at housing@uah.edu. If you want to change your room after moving in, you can contact your Resident director.

Ques. I am an International student. Do I need health insurance?

International students on F-1 and J-1 visas must purchase health insurance from a UAH’s insurance provider which will cost approx $600.

Ques. What happens if one of my roommates is diagnosed with COVID-19?

Residential students who test positive and/or who may have come into close contact with someone who tested positive will be provided with isolation spaces. The isolation procedure will be per medical guidance.

Ques. How long will it take to process my application?

It will take around 2-3 weeks upon submitting all the required documents to process your applications. You will be notified via email and mail once the decision is made.

Ques. Can scholarship funds be used other than tuition?

UAH Freshman Merit Tuition Scholarships are for tuition only. Other awards typically do not stipulate a specific use and can be used for any college expenses.
