ASID Foundation Legacy Scholarships

Every year American Society for Interior Designers (ASID) offers ASID Foundation Legacy Scholarships to undergraduate and graduates commencing studies in the field of interior designing. Valid in the majority of universities abroad, the scholarship program offers 4000 USD ( 2,94,255 INR) to the chosen recipient.

  • Annually, only one applicant is awarded the ASID Foundation Scholarship.
  • ASID has kept the criteria quite unrestricted, the only requirement is that students must be applying for a full-time interior design degree course.
  • Submission of academic records/transcripts, portfolios/design work, personal statement, and letters of recommendation is mandatory for both UG and PG applicants.
  • Academic and creative excellence is the main criteria that are considered for granting the scholarship.   
  • The ASID Foundation Scholarship amount of the ward must be used towards the tuition fee only.

The essay plays an important role in the selection is it generally revolves around interior designing exploring the applicant’s point of view on interior designing’s positive impact on the environment and surroundings and their vision to gaze the impact of same on health and wellbeing overall through the specific design area in which the applicant wants to excel.

Application Process

Both undergraduate and graduate students are required to submit the ASID Foundation Legacy Scholarships application form. However, the scholarship application requirements vary for UG and PG applicants.

  • 1000-word personal essay on “The ASID Foundation believes that interior design positively transforms environment in ways that improve human outcomes. As an interior designer, how will you embrace and advance the professional trend to positively impact health and well-being in your anticipated area of design practice?”
  • Proof of enrollment and previous academic transcripts
  • Letter of Recommendation

Selection Process

The ASID foundation selects the candidate on the basis of merit that includes the academic record, portfolio, essay written by the applicant, and the letters of recommendation.

The design portfolio and the essay are able to tell a lot about the applicant’s past and future vision and the selection committee is basically interested in the person who is committed and has a passion for interior designing. A person who is not only thinking of rising himself through the subject area but is also having the capability to give something to it, is most likely the most suitable candidate for the scholarship.

The decision of scholarship is conveyed by the foundation within 4-6 weeks.
