IIT BHU offers a total of 16 hostels, with new constructions underway. Every undergraduate student is guaranteed a hostel room. The yearly hostel fee is approximately Rs. 5,500, while the mess fee is Rs. 30,000 per year. Hostels are equipped with 24/7 high-speed Wi-Fi, electricity, and water supply, including water coolers and geysers. Rooms generally accommodate two students, but first-year students may share with three due to increasing numbers. Amenities include common areas with TVs and table tennis, badminton and volleyball courts, and canteens open until late at night.

A unique feature is the Satvik mess for those avoiding onion and garlic. While some hostels, especially older ones, have room size limitations, new hostels with modern amenities like lifts and balconies are being developed. The mess food is well-rated, offering a diverse menu with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, including a special meal once a week. Overall, the infrastructure is improving, with renovations and new constructions enhancing the living experience.
