the hostel is very good and the hostel facility is very nice. In my facilities are two lights and a fan, one bed, one cupboard and one table and a chair. The meal is bad and the same routine items are put in the mess that's why it's not nice. the registration process for the hostel process is very good.
Hostel for first year is so and so average, the rooms aren't large but 3 people are accomodated in each room, the bathrooms are pretty much clean and the mess sevres good food. However, things get much better from 2nd year onwards as the students are accomodated in the newly made DG-2 hostel it has large rooms, modern furniture and very clean washrooms. No matter what the condition is, one thing is for sure, you will create endless memories here!
There are almost thirty clubs which include many things the annual tech fest is held in January which is Kashi Yatra and sports fest is Spardha in October and technex is the tech fest in April and there are many international games indoor and outdoor and the student counseling services scs which guides students in a successful way this committee includes some faculties and senior students and one social welfare club is there.
The room contains 2 study tables and 2 chairs and 2 almirah the food was good quality and it contained roti and rice and sambar and curries any special dish they give a hostel form in the online platform and we have to fill it and we have to pay online
Campus life is very happy and enthusiastic. There are many fests conducted here, the tech fest is conducted in February and is conducted by COPS, in IIT BHU. There are many books in the IIT BHU library, in various sections separated according to their classrooms are very spacious with the best ventilation and 24-hour cool water supply. This campus is best known for the availability of coaching for all types of sports. And, there is a sport fest organised on this campus, known as SPARTHA. It is the 2nd largest sportsfest that is held in INDIA. Social groups include groups in Discord and WhatsApp.
We have a sports fest called "sparda" in the month of October and an annual fest called "kashiyatra" in the month of January. There are sufficient books required for our courses and current affairs in our library. There is much exposure to all sports nd games and many extracurricular activities are held in the leisure time on our campus.
One of my friends studied at IIT BHU, he used to avail hostel facilities. According to him, the hostels were overall good but had one complaint with the allotment of students. Most of the students there preferred 2 students sharing one room rather than 3.
Here’s mentioning some points about the hostels.
Overall, the hostels here are very well maintained, the new hostels are better than the older ones but are comparatively smaller. To promote clean energy, solar panels are installed on the roof of each hostel.
IIT BHU hostel facilities are good for M.Tech students. The hostel rooms are spacious and have all the necessary amenities. M.Tech students are accommodated in Aryabhatta hostel. It is the biggest hostel on campus.
Most rooms are three seated. After one semester or two, students are allotted double-seated rooms, based on availability. Students are given basic amenities like a cot, table, and chair. Each room has two shelves. Each room has two LAN ports. The hostel has a reading room on the ground floor. The campus has a University Health Center for medical emergencies.
It has a three-mess capacity dining hall. Compared to other IITs, food offered here is good. The hostel has two canteens. Food items and other basic things are available there.
No, there are no bathrooms attached to hostel rooms in IIT BHU. In fact, that is the case with most of the IITs. However, there are enough facilities available for the students in each hostel. Most of the hostels in IIT BHU have one bathroom per 10 students and that is more than sufficient in terms of availability. And most of the time students don’t face any problems regarding the bathroom facilities. In a few hostels like Limbdi, Rajputana, and Vishvesvaraya that there are washbasins in the lobby and they’re each per 10 people too. So, that pretty much sums up the bathroom facilities at IIT BHU.
The recent downloading speed is around 6 Mbps during the day as the traffic is very high. During the night the speed definitely increases but the increase is not that significant since people are awake at night too. When you are allotted your hostel rooms you will get an Ethernet cable. The speed might improve if you use the Ethernet instead of the wifi. In recent years a network with 1 Gbps bandwidth has been set up which resulted in good internet speed.
This might look very high speed to some people reading this answer, but actually this is a pretty normal speed considering its an IIT. IIT Roorkee has far better speed than this.
There is no fixed mess menu in IIT BHU. At present, the institute has a total of 19 hostels. Each hostel has 2-3 messes and different people are given contracts for a whole year. Average number of students eating at a particular hostel will be around 150-200. This system is put in place to ensure the quality of food.
Even if we talk about a particular mess, there is no fixed menu as such. The person in charge, as known as the ‘Maharaj’ keeps different preparations depending on the price of goods and commodities.
The mess charge is around INR 12,000 for each semester. Sometimes, a few bucks are refunded after a semester.
The institute many hostels for both boys and girls, and most of them are about 50-60 years old. The rooms in the old ones are cramped, unlike the new ones, where are quite spacious. Even then, the rooms are pretty much compact, according to the number of students in a room. When one enters the room for the first time, he will be somewhat reluctant to live here because it will be too filthy with spider webs everywhere in the room, along with some used stuff of previous occupants. Hostel administration offers a bed, table, and chair. Cupboards are already inside the room, which will be shared. In a wholly arranged room with couches, tables, and chairs, there will be no space to walk, but very spacious corridors and lawns make up for it. Vishwakarma Hostel corridors are so long that one will hesitate to go from one end to another. Each of the has basic amenities like sufficient numbers of bathrooms and water coolers.
Apart from these, hostels have common rooms, canteens, mess, TV Room, badminton court, TT tables, lawns, and high-speed internet, accessible via Wi-Fi and LAN.
All the complaints of the students are taken very seriously by the hostel administration. The authorities act promptly on any grievance or criticism of the students. There are no restrictions on the time of entry and exit from the hostel. Also, the food in the hostel messes is much better than any other IIT's mess food. The hostels of IIT BHU are quite good, and they end up being the most cherished places during the time of stay in IIT BHU.
The hostels of IIT BHU can be classified into 2 categories: new and old. Both of them have almost similar designs. The institute has renovated most of the old hostels and have well-maintained gardens inside. The rooms in these hostels are smaller and generally only two students can share the rooms. They have less number of cupboards per room.
The new hostels have larger rooms, but you may have to share the room with three people (especially if you are in the 1st or 2nd year). Another downside is the size of the garden is considerably reduced, and the overall size of the hostel is small. These hostels have more storage space.
Daily maintenance is done on the garden, the washrooms, the corridors, and other common areas. Rooms are cleaned and disinfected on a weekly basis. The washrooms are cleaned every day. Every hostel has a common room where there is a TV and a table for table-tennis. These rooms can be used for club meetings, organizing events, etc. Sports equipment can be issued- carrom board, badminton rackets, and table tennis. Multiple water-coolers are present on each floor. There are several wifi routers on each floor. Also, two LAN ports are present in each room for faster internet requirements. Each room has at least: a window, one tube light, a bulb holder, a ceiling fan, and 2 sockets. Every student is provided with a bed, a chair, and a study table. All hostels have badminton courts and some even have volleyball courts. Each hostel has at least one: Canteen, (open till 2 AM), and Mess(fixed timings). Each hostel also has allocated parking space for bikes, scooters, and cycles. Students are allowed to have basic electric equipment like heaters and coolers.
You can go in and out of campus at any time. However, there is a curfew for girls (10 PM). There are 3 girls hostels out of which one is solely for freshers. The current fresher’s hostel for boys is Aryabhatta (1 & 2).
Every summer, you have to vacate your room and put all your belongings in either the common room or other dedicated rooms. This is regular for most colleges.
Dhanrajgiri Hostel is among the oldest hostels in IIT BHU. It dates back to the days when the institute was known as IT BHU. In fact, it is the first hostel on the engineering campus of BHU. Naturally, the hostel building is quite old and in need of renovation.
To accommodate the increasing number of students, IIT BHU has decided to demolish the hostel and rebuild it as Boys Hostel - I (S+10) and Dining Block (G+1 floor).
Aryabhatta Hostel is the best hostel to live in when at IIT BHU. This is due to the following reasons:
Although this may vary from person to person. Aryabhatta is a hostel which you’d like coming into college as you’ll be having high expectations from college and this is the hostel with the most modern facilities. This might change once you progress in college life and by 4th year you’d love to be in Rajputana and Limbdi Hostels as they’re the centre point of the college and are pretty much near to everything essential for a student.
Most of the IIT BHU hostels for girls are old. Recently one new girls' hostel has been established. The hostel rooms have all essential amenities such as bed, table, chair, etc. You will have access to full-speed wi-fi inside the hostel rooms.
There are 5 girls hostels, i.e. SC Dey Girls, IIT BHU Girls’ hostel -1 & 2, Gandhi Smriti Mahila Catrawas, and Limbdi. Usually, the hostel rooms are double sharing.
