NIT Srinagar M.Tech Eligibility Criteria

  • The students must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field from a recognized University/Institute.
  • They must have scored at least 60% (6.5 GPA) aggregate score. 5% relaxation is given for those belonging to SC/ST and other similar categories.
  • The students must hold a valid GATE score of the year 2018 / 2019 / 2020.

NIT Srinagar M.Tech Selection Criteria

  • Selection to the M.Tech program is made on the basis of the rank secured by a candidate in the GATE entrance exam. 
  • The seat allotment is done after the successful completion of the CCMT counseling process and on the basis of the performance of a candidate in the counseling, previous academic records, category, availability of seats and other factors. 

The students will be allotted seats based on the order of choices and scores obtained. If the students are willing to join the institute allotted, a Seat Acceptance Fee of INR 30,000 must be paid, and a provisional seat allotment letter must be produced during reporting to the institute.

The students can go ahead with document verification after the fee payment. This process is compulsory, failing which the admission will be considered null. After the document verification, the students can go ahead with payment of admission fees to the respective institute.

How to apply for GATE?

Those who are eligible for admission have to take the GATE. The registration process for it is given below:

  • Visit the official website
  • Register through the link by entering the candidate’s name, email ID and mobile number.
  • After the form is submitted, an enrollment ID will be sent to the candidate’s mobile number.
  • Fill out the application form.
  • A fee of 1,500 INR (750 INR for women and reserved categories) will be charged. It is to be paid online.
  • Download the form and keep a printout for future reference.

CCMT Counselling

Candidates who take the GATE will have to go for CCMT counselling. To apply, follow the given steps:

  • Register at the official website.
  • Fill out the application form.
  • Pay the registration fee of 2,200 INR (1,700 INR for reserved categories).
  • Click on “I agree”.
  • Start entering your choices. When it is done, lock the choices.
  • Submit the application and keep a printout.

NIT Srinagar M.Tech Course Details

  • A student has to complete a minimum of 64 credits for the award of M.Tech Degree. The credit structure is as follows:
    • Core : 34 credits
    • Project : 24 credits
    • Electives : 6 credits
  • A full time student has to take 12 to 18 credits in each semester while a part time student has to take 9 to 12 credits in each semester.
  • In the fourth semester of the M.Tech program, a student has to submit the dissertation which consists of 16 credits in total.
