Is the EXTC at KJ Somaiya good for placements?
KJ Somaiya has a great bunch of professors and well-equipped laboratories. They have pretty amazing placement records. Electronics and Telecommunication engineering placements are as good as that of CSE and IT branches at KJSCE.

Which is better purely in terms of placement, XLRI BM or HRM?
Although choosing a course just based on placement records is not a good idea, there are some insights you must know before deciding.
- Placement is for the first job which you might do for 2–3 years while your career will span for 30–35 years. You should choose what you feel you want to be doing.
- You must have heard that HR roles offer you better work-life balance but it might not be true in every case. It depends a lot on the company, your manager, and your role. If work-life balance is your criteria, you might feel a shock when you join a company. HR might not have business targets but you may face other pressures.
- Placements in any campus depend on your luck too. HR batch strength increase in XL might make the competition for the good roles a little higher because the number of HR roles is limited. BM batch is still divided amongst Fin/Mar/Ops camps giving them specific roles but the number of opportunities might be higher.
All in all, placements won't secure your future in any way if you choose a field where you aren’t interested.

To be very honest, it is not a tough task to get a high-paying job in a top IT company if you have completed your B.Tech from IIIT-Allahabad. But to get that, you have to start preparing yourself from the first year only. The college has a good coding culture and getting a job in a top IT company is a cakewalk for you if you have studied religiously. - The profiles of your batchmates and their diversity The size and brand of the alumni base and the opportunities you will be availing through them

One thing you should keep in mind is that brands are just a stepping stone in your career journey and not the main factor. These institutes have been able to establish the brand name mainly because of where their alumni have reached now. So brands are helpful in the short run only.

IIM Bangalore has been able to achieve 100% summer placements due to the combined and relentless efforts of students, seniors, placement committees, and clubs. No institute can work properly without a proper cordial relationship among these. Summer placements take place after the end of 2nd term but students start preparing well before the beginning of the term. How is the placement at St. Xavier's University, Kolkata at present?
I know a few people from the institute so I know a little bit about the institute. St. Xavier's University is not a good university for business management courses and the placements here are not very good.
- For the academic year 2020, companies like Deloitte, EY came here for placements but the package offered is very less with an average package of around 3.5 - 4.2 LPA. And the roles for which the students are hired are not even required MBA specialization.
- The placement officer at the institute is not very cooperative. The management also told the students who were opting for HR that there won't be enough jobs available and they won't be responsible for it.
- The MBA students have to appear for interviews with the same group of B.Com, Eco Hons, Eco M.A, BMS students instead of paying higher fees of almost three times and the hostel fees which are compulsory too. The course cost around 14 lakhs.
Instead of joining St. Xavier's University with such high fees and poor academics and placements, it is better to choose any other business school with good placements.

The number of product-based companies visiting HIT-K is very low when compared to Jadavpur and Shibpur university (current IIEST), but it is higher than other colleges under WBUT.

If you want to excel, you can start doing projects under different professors, there is a coding club, and they have recently started organizing monthly coding contests on Hackerrank.
Make connections with seniors who are already working in product-based companies and try to get internships through referrals. You should not wait until the third year to start an internship; learn C/C++/Java, DS, and Algo and you'll be ready to start an internship at any product-based company. Microsoft held an off-campus event, but it does not count because it occurred only once.
In terms of the CTC, it is determined by the year and the organization.
