Can a person with 77% in class 12 be selected in IIM Ahmedabad?

BS
Bhavani Susmitha Posted On : December 22nd, 2022
MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (Graduated 2021)

The good thing about IIM Ahmedabad is that it does not take much consideration of past academics in comparison to other IIMs. So don’t let your class 12 marks demotivate you and cause a distraction while you are preparing for your CAT.

So, instill in yourself the confidence that your hard worlds and efforts while preparing for the CAT matter more than your class 12 marks. In fact, your low marks should motivate you more to score marks higher than others with better past scores.

And as for facts, people with such low percentages have got into IIMA though the numbers are less. Don’t let what has not happened affect what you could have achieved.

How can I get admission to MIT after I pursue B.E degree from Thapar University?

SB

Studied at Thapar University (2019)

After being rejected from MIT, and getting admission in UC Berkeley, I got to know where my shortcomings were. I might not have another chance to change it, but I can surely give you some pointers which might be useful for you.

  • Always try keeping your grades up. Try to obtain a minimum of 9 CGPA or above.
  • After applying for MIT in your 6th semester, do not take your 7th semester lightly. Your scores will play an important role.
  • Try to obtain a high GRE score of 330 or above. Focus mainly on English for GRE.
  • Read English newspapers, editorials, magazines, and novels to improve your vocabulary and writing.
  • Study GRE materials. Quantitative Aptitude in GRE is comparatively easier.
  • Do projects on innovative topics, publish your work, and try acquiring internships at IITs and IISC.

Lastly, talk to the teachers as they can guide you thoroughly. Make your Statement of Purpose worthy enough. But always remember that MIT is not your only option. Do not get disappointed if you don't get admission there as there will be other options also.

ISB YLP '15 Admit

The PGP Program of ISB Hyderabad admission criteria is as follows

  • 2+ years of work experience
  • A graduation degree
  • A valid GMAT score

These are just eligibility criteria and do not guarantee admission into ISB. The ISB Hyderabad admission criteria is unpredictable and might be challenging for many. Someone with an average profile but a great GMAT score can get admission so does someone with an average GMAT score but a great academic profile can. But there are certain aspects you can work on to increase your chances of admission. Some of them include

  • Academics: Your past academic records along with the GMAT scores determines your academic profile and your capability to cope with the rigor of the ISB Hyderabad PGP program.
  • Work experience: Your essay and CV will speak of your work experience and achievements in the field
  • Clarity of goals: The panel of interviewers analyzes if you are certain of your career inclinations and have set attainable goals. They definitely ask you the reason you choose MBA and specifically from ISB Hyderabad.
  • Diversity: Your diversity matters a lot here as ISB Hyderabad is coveted by a pool of genius minds and there should be something that sets you apart from them.
  • Leadership skills: The personal interview and your manner of communication speak of your leadership skills. The interviewers will judge if you are capable of being a future leader or not.
  • Communication skills: Your essay will particularly evaluate your communication skills as to how well you can communicate your emotions and ideas.

All these points will help you improve if not guarantee your chance of admission to ISB Hyderabad. The aspects you are weak at can be compensated by other aspects. Try to maximize your potential in each of these areas and you are good to go.

M.Tech Civil Engineering & Geotechnical Engineering, NIT, Jamshedpur, graduated in 2018

A relative of mine who is an alumnus of NIT Jamshedpur and she has said that the institute is working on its boundaries to make them close. You can easily get into the premises of the institute. Even the locals do.

You will have to clear JEE to get into the Bachelors in technology. If you clear your GATE exams, you can get into M.Tech, PhD, and M.Sc. After you clear interviews, you can get jobs of technician, site engineer, etc.

Some requirements for admission are as follows:

  • Clear your JEE
  • Get a decent rank
  • Clear your CSAB JEE counseling
  • Fill choices, and make sure you have NIT Jamshedpur as your first priority. Pay your fee and get a payslip.
  • Produce required documents at NIT Jamshedpur and the fee slip.

It can be seen that JEE is very important for getting admission to NIT Jamshedpur. So clearing that exam with a decent rank is important.

Does academic performance matter for getting into JBIMS? I have 72.80 in 10th and 74% in 12th if I get 99.99 percentile in CET. Will I get admission in JBIMS?

BP
Bhargavi Pradhan Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
National Chief Mentor @ IMS | JBIMS | CAT 99.92 | CET 99.99

Considering the past processes followed by JBIMS, it can be determined that either a direct written score-based admission or GDPI will be expected.

For the first possibility, calls will be issued based on the scores of the CAT and CET exams, and a group discussion and personal interview (GDPI) will be conducted. In this scenario, your academic record is of significant importance. The eligibility criteria for this process include a minimum of 65% in 10th grade and 60% in 12th grade. Thus, if your academic record is not up to par, there may be challenges, but if you perform well on other parameters, you should still have a chance of being successful.

In the second possibility, you can participate in the centralized admission process, where your academic record does not play a role. The admission will be solely based on the written score obtained in CET/All India tests. The eligibility criteria for this scenario align with the CET exam, which requires a minimum of 50% in graduation. So, you need not worry about your past academic performance and should focus on preparing well for the CET exam to secure a good score.

B.A(H) Pol. Science from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University

According to my friends from Kirori Mal College, with a percentage of 96.25, you will have a decent chance of getting admission in Political Science (Hons). However, it also depends on your caste.

In 2021, the required cutoff for Political Science (Hons) was 98.75-99.25 for the General category. With your course, you can expect to get into tier 2 colleges like KMC, Venky, SGTB Khalsa, Ramjas, Gargi, JMC, etc.
