Is it good to take admission in IIM Jammu? Currently I am in Infosys Hyderabad with 1.8 years of experience.

SJ
Shreyas Joshi Posted On : January 2nd, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (Graduated 2021)

Yes, I think it’s a fairly good decision to take admission to IIM Jammu. This is because in the long run your IIM degree and tag will be very beneficial.

I know you might think that IIM Jammu is just a newly established institute and may not be worth leaving a job at Infosys. But if you look at the placement scenario here you can see how quickly it has come to establish itself in the IIM Race.

Particulars

Statistics

Number of participants

217

Number of offers

222

Highest Package

INR 32 LPA

Average Package

INR 13.53 LPA

Median Package

INR 11.4 LPA

Number of Companies visited

119

These figures certainly prove that IIM Jammu is climbing the ladder slowly and steadily.

Apart from placements, the following merits add to its worth

  • Many events are held by the students themselves like the HULT case competition.
  • The climate is much similar to that of Delhi. If anything it is much cleaner and fresher here.
  • The faculty is also top-notch
  • The infrastructure is also pretty good

So IIM is itself a brand name. You will not regret choosing any IIM be it IIM Jammu or any other.

What are the minimum marks required to get admitted to Calicut University for a BA in English literature?

PJ
Priyank Jaiswal Posted On : October 29th, 2022
Studied Bachelor of Arts Degrees in English Literature

It is determined by the number of seats available at the college. Calicut University does not conduct exams properly, and your grades will not be corrected. This means that the student who studies the best in class and the student who did not study for the exam get nearly the same grade.

The university doesn't even properly correct the papers. It's also evident in newspaper articles about the majority of students failing a university exam. Your semester exams will be held on an irregular basis. That is, if you are in the third semester, you may write for the first semester.

Furthermore, if you fail at some point in the third semester and all of the other semesters succeed, it will take years for you to pass the exam because the supplementary exam is not given frequently.

Can a student who is waiting for the supplementary exam result be able to apply for post-graduation at Calicut University?

At Calicut University, to be eligible to apply for a post-graduate course, one must have completed the undergraduate course and provide proof of completion in the form of a Degree Certificate. A Provisional Certificate would suffice as well.

If you are awaiting the results of the Supplementary exams, you will be unable to produce the Degree Certificate and thus will be ineligible to apply. This is based on the assumption that Supplementary Exams indicate that you did not pass a specific paper.

However, if the exams are Improvement Exams, the situation is different.

What are chances of converting NMIMS Mumbai in 211?

KS
Krunal Sampat Posted On : February 28th, 2023
PGDM International Business & Marketing, K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (2020

Your chances of converting to NMIMS Mumbai are average considering the cutoff below

Section

Expected cutoff

Language skills

71

Quantitative Techniques

76

Logical Reasoning

69

Overall

232

The overall cutoff is 232 while your score is 211. This slight variation can be compensated by performing well in other rounds and areas. NMIMS gives different weights to the different parameters that constitute the final merit list:

  • NMAT Score - 70%
  • Group/Case Discussion - 10%
  • Personal Interview - 10%
  • Academic Performance - 5%
  • Work Experience - 5%

In case you think your NMAT score is not enough, acing the CDPI rounds will work for you. Both rounds carry a significant weightage of 10% each and can prove to be definite game changers. Other criteria include work experience and past academic records.

Also, there might be people who score higher than you but let that demotivate you as a lower score can be compensated in consecutive rounds. The CDPI round is rather unpredictable and needs to be handled tactfully. Sometimes the performance of one candidate can affect others in the case discussion round. So be prepared for the worst scare scenarios.

Which is the better option, Northeast NIT (Agartala) or IIIT Tiruchirappalli?

SG
Sugandhi Garg Posted On : September 20th, 2023
Studied Computer Science at National Institute of Technology, Agartala

As a student of NIT Agartala, I will try to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of my college in relation to IIIT Trichy-

  • Location- Location is the main factor in which NIT Agartala lags behind IIIT Trichy. Though Agartala has train, rail and air connectivity, it feels a bit disconnected from the other parts of the country.
  • Courses Offered- NIT Agartala is quite old, and was originally established in 1965. It offers a number of B.Tech courses- Bio Engineering, Chemical, Civil, CSE, EE, ECE, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechanical and Production. On the other hand, IIIT Trichy offers B.Tech CSE and ECE only.
  • Infrastructure- NIT Agartala has one of the best infrastructures among Indian engineering colleges. Its infrastructure is world-class. Some of its infrastructural elements are- a gym, an indoor stadium, five hostels, departmental buildings and the 2nd supercomputer of northeast.
  • Placements- NITA is very old, so it offers a stronger alumni network and better placement opportunities. Some of the companies that recruit from NITA are- Google, NTPC, SapientNitro, Indian Oil, Cognizant, Tata, ITC Limited, Vedanta, HCL, among others. NITA offers good placements for core branches.

Overall, NIT Agartala is a superior engineering college. Apart from B.Tech, NITA offers integrated programs as well. These are- BS+MS in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry, and integrated M.Tech in Engineering Physics or Computational Mathematics.

Should I upgrade to AIIMS Rishikesh in 2nd round after getting AIIMS Raipur in 1st?I will be appearing for USMLE so research is important but I really like Raipur especially because it's close to city

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : December 26th, 2023

Both these AIIMS were established in 2012, both are centrally funded, and there are very minor differences between the two. Both AIIMS Rishikesh and AIIMS Raipur will offer good research facilities to you.

Location is another important factor. AIIMS Rishikesh offers a scenic landscape, while AIIMS Raipur offers a rich city life. AIIMS Rishikesh has theory exams, while AIIMS Raipur has MCQ based exams.

Hospital wise, AIIMS Rishikesh has a slight advantage, but academics and infrastructure wise, both are equally good.

Thus, you can opt for AIIMS Raipur without any hesitation.

KS
Kanika Sharma Posted On : May 18th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Construction Management and Research, Pune

The institute conducts admissions in three rounds: 1st, 2nd, and last (but this can change in the future).

  • The first round of admissions usually takes place around November-December, with the maximum number of students participating during this round. The entrance exam for this round takes place in January.
  • The second round of admissions opens in January-February, with the entrance exam taking place in April-May.
  • The final or third round of admissions opens in May, with interviews and entrance tests being conducted in June. The session usually starts in the first half of July.

The difference between these rounds is that the first round has test centers across the country, and all campuses and courses are open. The second and third rounds are conducted in Pune only, and the Pune campus is usually the first to fill up.

  • Academic Variety.
  • Working experience

What are my chances to convert IMI New Delhi with CAT 92.3 percentile and Xth 79.8%, 12th 86% with a year gap graduation 60.27%?

Considering the criteria and the recent trends, I deem your profile to fare quite well provided that you perform well throughout the selection process.

Once you have been shortlisted you have to face 3 rounds during the selection process

  1. Written ability test
  2. Psychometric test
  3. Interview+Extempore

Your mentioned score combined with your great performance during these rounds will increase your chances of admission.
