How can I take admission in BAU for B.SC Agriculture, if I got less than 50% in intermediate?

JP
Jatin Parmar Posted On : September 16th, 2023
MBA from NMIMS (Graduated 2018)

Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) Ranchi, offers UG and PG-level courses in Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, and Forestry streams. Admission to BAU Ranchi is done on the basis of the Entrance Examination.

Students with science backgrounds in PCB can opt for any particular major from Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry, and Forestry, while students with PCM backgrounds can apply only for agriculture and forestry. The total number of seats present for B.Sc (H) Agriculture is 50. The Institute does not mention any minimum class 12 % required for admission as the eligibility criteria simply state that the candidate should have completed class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized board.

So, I don't think your low intermediate marks will affect your chances of admission to BAU in any way

I have converted calls from NMIMS, Mumbai and SIBM, Pune. Which one should I choose given that I have an inclination towards finance specialization?

AL
Arpit Lodha Posted On : February 28th, 2023
MBA from SVKM's NMIMS (Graduated 2016)

NMIMS is well known for its Finance specialization. Many might consider its huge Finance intake or the entire batch size, in general, a drawback. But if we compare the placement reports of SIBM Pune and NMIMS Mumbai, the latter is visited by most of the top Finance companies. Most companies in the Finance sector prefer NMIMS over other B Schools and students who are Finance enthusiasts too prefer NMIMS over other B Schools. The main reasons pertaining to this preference are

  • Better placements than SIBM Pune
  • More number of companies visiting the campus than SIBM Pune
  • Its location in the Finance capital gives it a lot of advantage over SIBM Pune
  • More corporate exposure owing to its location than SIBM Pune

Finance companies give more preferences to your knowledge and inclination towards the domain rather than your work experience. The only drawback of NMIMS is its high fees and lack of campus life. But the Finance roles offered are good enough to overshadow this flaw.

What are the chances of a non- Maharashtra student of getting SIMSREE, KJSIMR, Welingkar and PUMBA?

SG
Sachin Gupta Posted On : May 5th, 2023

Quite good and honestly, most non-Maharastra students tend to not take admissions beyond these 5–6 colleges. You may have to score in the range of 98%ile to 99.9 to get into some of these colleges.

There are fair chances of Non - Maharashtra students of getting the above-mentioned colleges under All India Category seats as per DTE Maharashtra for MS and PGDM programs. In colleges such as SIMSREE & PUMBA, more seats are reserved for students from Maharashtra as compared to seats for students from the All India category. You can refer to the DTE Maharashtra website for more information.

DG
Dishu Goyal Posted On : January 19th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (Graduated 2023)

IIM Amritsar is a newly established IIM and is not yet in the league of the IIM family. Despite that, its placement statistics are better than at Nirma University. IIM Amritsar is the 15th Indian Institute of Management being set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development with the support of the Government of Punjab. IIM Amritsar has a small batch size in comparison to Nirma University. The programs offered at both the B Schools are different.

Studied at Indian School of Business (Graduated 2018)

ISB Hyderabad PGP program eligibility criteria is as follows

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline
  • Valid GMAT / GRE score
  • At least 2 years of full-time work experience TOEFL / IELTS / PTE score (only if the language of instruction at your undergraduate study level is not English)

Any candidate who fulfills the above criteria is eligible to apply for admission in ISB Hyderabad. The main purpose of the academic evaluation is to ensure the student will be able to cope with the rigorous curriculum of the program. The no-cutoff criteria help generalize the evaluation. Apart from GMAT scores, 12 marks and graduation marks are also taken into consideration.

However, getting admission at ISB Hyderabad does not solely depend on your academic score. There are many other parameters that are considered. Some of them include

Leadership skills: The candidate’s leadership skills are evaluated through their impact and achievements in their professional and work life. This is assessed through the responsibilities they had undertaken and their career progression.

Diversity: ISB Hyderabad lays great emphasis on the diversity factory. It aims to invite people from various walks who with their diverse perspectives can impact society positively. The personal attributes of the candidate are evaluated through his extracurricular background or other personal interests. Diversity in every aspect like work experience, educational background, and nationality is considered for admission to the PGP program at ISB Hyderabad.

Getting admission at a B School is just like marketing yourself for sale. You need to present yourself as brightly as you can. The best way to increase your chances of admission is to write impactful essays.

Which college should I choose between IIT Roorkee and IIM Sirmaur for MBA?

AP
Aniruddha Patil Posted On : January 19th, 2023
IIT Bombay '14 | IIM Ahmedabad '16

I don’t even need to ponder over this question for a long time. The answer is very simple. You should choose IIT Roorkee over IIM Sirmaur for MBA. The reason being its new establishment. People don’t care if you are an IIM student unless you belong to the older ones. The new IIMs are yet to make a mark in the industry especially the likes of IIM Jammu and Sirmaur.

IIT Roorkee on the other hand is very good at placements and peer learning. Given the current situation of both institutes, IIT Roorkee is definitely the better option. The IIM tag offered by Sirmaur lacks credibility and even if it will be beneficial, it will be after some years and not right away.

What are the chances of clearing the waitlist in IMT Ghaziabad?

GN
Gopi Nath Posted On : January 27th, 2023
PGDM Marketing, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (2024)

To predict the chances of clearing the IMT Ghaziabad waitlist, we need to compare it with colleges of similar levels. Some of them include SCMHRD, XIMB, IMI, Great lakes, etc. All these B Schools are Grades B.

  • Candidates shortlisted in the first list of IMT have around 30% chances of getting shortlisted in an A grade school
  • Candidates shortlisted in the first list of IMT have around 20% chances of getting shortlisted in B Grade schools like SCMHRD

From this, we can conclude that almost 50% of students withdraw from their admission to the first merit list. Around 50-85 additional candidates can get a seat. However, the second merit list has lower chances of vacant seats.
