PDPU Gandhinagar is one of the countable colleges to provide a mix of curriculum and upright infrastructure.It is ranked 1st in Gujarat and 55th in the country according to NIRF. • In the chemical engineering batch, 95% students were placed with top recruiters being Honeywell, Berger paints and Reliance to name a few.

• The Chemical engineering department gives students an exposure to corporate internships in established business and industries besides the summer workshops it offers. Out of the 60 students, 10% students receive PPOs through summer internships.
• The Petroleum engineering department provides a rural internship program for first year students. Apart from this, there is an Industry Orientation internship to impart operational capabilities in students. Out of the total 120 students, on an average, 20% students receive PPOs.

Faculty

• Chemical engineering- the department faculty provides a vibrant option for students looking for getting industry ready in future. It includes Faculty members from esteemed institutions like IITs, who share their effervescent experience in terms of knowledge imparted. The teacher to student ratio is 1:30.
• Petroleum engineering- the department’s faculty boasts off to have faculty from IITs and NITs which is well-qualified and earned many recognitions. Furthermore, the practical lab sessions taken by this department help in future prospects of performing research projects. The teacher to student ratio is 1:25.

The stream of chemical engineering gives a plethora of options, be it working in Reservoir or oil production, this stream has a broader prospect for the aspirants of this course. On the other hand, petroleum engineering is a field of specialization and the scope is slightly limited. So it is up to an individual’s diligence and hard work to excel in any chosen field.

SRM University is one of the renowned institutes of India. It has almost 20,000 students and 2,600 faculties across all the campuses of the university. SRM consists of some foreign faculties and students from other countries also. VIT is a 9 time record holder for placements. On the other hand Manipal University is one of the highly ranked institutions in India.

Both IIT Ropar and IIT Bhubaneswar were established in 2008. IIT Bhubaneswar shifted to its 936 acres permanent campus in August 2015, whereas IIT Ropar shifted to its 501 acres brand new campus in the year 2019. According to the ranking of NIRF (Government of India), IIT Bhubaneswar ranked 18 and IIT Ropar ranked 21 all over India. The students to faculty ratio of IIT Ropar is 1:8 whereas IIT Bhubaneswar has 122 faculty for approx. 100 students. IIT Ropar has adopted a new curriculum according to International standards. IIT Bhubaneswar has adopted the curriculum of its parent institute IIT Kharagpur.

Big recruiters such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Cognizant, Reliance, Samsung visit both institutes every year. A total of 90.24% of students placed in the year 2018. The highest package of 17.45 LPA and an average package of 13.83 LPA was recorded at campus placement. The coding culture at IIT Ropar is quite profound. Over 89.55% of placement recorded at the end of the placement season of 2019 at IIT Bhubaneswar. The highest domestic CTC offered was 39 LPA and the average package is about 11.44 LPA.

Apart from academics, IIT Bhubaneswar also focuses on extra-academic activities. It provides one credit compulsory cultural course to first year. IIT Ropar provides sports facilities that are needed and organizes sports fest AAROHAN every year. It has clubs like BOCA (Board of Cultural Activities), BOST (Board of Science and Technology), and several societies.

Ropar is well connected to cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Mohali, Shimla, and Jalandhar. It is nearby many vacation sites like Shimla, Manali. Bhubaneswar is the capital city of Odisha. It’s difficult to determine which institute is better as the courses are not mentioned for the given college. However, given below are information about the colleges which may help you make the decision.

Ranking:

• Nirma University: The college was ranked among the top 100 institutions in the country by NIRF in the academic year 2018. 
• Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya: The college was ranked as 251 in top B. tech college in India by NIRF in the year 2019.

Admissions: 

• Nirma University: For admissions, the criteria for every course is different. But mostly the college accepts common exams like JEE Mains, CLAT, GATE, CAT and MAT. 
• Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya: For a student to be eligible for a course they need at least secure 45% of marks in 10+2 exams (science stream) with any recognized board. The college accepts GUCET marks for the B.Tech program.

Faculty:

• Nirma University: As being one of the oldest colleges in the state, the faculty of the college is well experienced and well versed with the subjects that they teach.
• Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya: There are Ph.D. teachers who give lectures on various subjects. There are guest lecturers that are called to provide in-depth knowledge to the students.

Placements:

• Nirma University: The highest CTC that was offered was Rs 16.6 LPA and the average CTC that was recorded was 8.2 LPA. The top recruiting companies that visited the college were: - Infosys, Tata Motors, Amul, Amazon, Bajaj Alliance, Larsen and Toubro, Daiken, and Bajaj Auto.
• Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya: For the year 2020 the highest package that was given to the student was INR 12 LPA. The lowest package that was offered was INR 1.8 LPA. The top companies that come to the college include; Razorpay, BYjus, L&T Power, L&T Constructions, Reliance, Wipro, SHV energy, TATA, and many more.

IIEST Shibpur is known for its national importance and outstanding alumni network. Thapar Institute of engineering and technology is one of India’s leading private institutions with a NIRF ranking of 27 amongst top engineering colleges. Let us have a look at the difference between the two universities based on some important and relevant factors.

Admissions:

IIEST Shibpur- For BTech at IIEST Shibpur students are required to clear JEE mains and have a minimum of 45% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2, along with 30% in English. For the BTech program in CST, the JEE mains cut-off was at 9379 in 2019.

Thapar University- For CSE admissions at Thapar University, students must qualify JEE mains. The general rank cut-off was 915971 in 2019.

Fee Structure: Considering IIEST is a public university funded by the central government, the demanded fee structure is relatively low. Thapar University on the other hand is a private institution and therefore has a higher range of tuition fees.

IIEST Shibpur-

• In 2019, 72% of students got placed from the CSE branch in top companies.

• The average salary offered to the students of CSE is 6.5 LPA.

• The top recruiters that participate in the placement drive are TCS, Samsung, Infosys.

Thapar University-

• It has a consistent 90% placement rate over the years.

• The average salary offered is around 7 LPA.

• Major recruiters of CSE students are Amazon, Microsoft, JP Morgan.

As for which institute to choose, you should decide that depending on your preferences and requirements.

IIIT Bhubaneswar comes under the listing of IIIT institutes of India. All institutes listed under IIT are funded as well as established by the government of India but this is not the case for institutes listed under IIIT. They are semi funded by the government and the other half is funded by private companies and firms.

When it comes down to comparing institutes based on the education offered by them, the quality of education offered by IITs is way ahead of those of NITs. The faculty of IIT is much more qualified and experienced than the faculty of NIT or IIIT. The approach of education and teaching methods used in IITs is way more effective as well. This doesn’t mean that the education offered at NIT is not good, both NIT and IIT are extremely good in providing education and producing good students but IIT still has an upper hand due to its high standard of studies. In this case, institutes listed under IIIT are the ones that lag behind all NITs and IITs.

IIIT Bhubaneswar, as an academic institute, offers a very student-friendly environment to its students. The coding environment of the institute is also very good and up to date. The placement rate offered by the institute lies between 90 to 100 percent. Though, students seeking admission in IIIT Bhubaneswar should reconsider their financial position as the fees demanded by this institute is quite high.
