Both Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University are well-known institutions that offer BA LLB programs. Both institutions have their own unique strengths and weaknesses, and the choice ultimately depends on your personal preferences and requirements. Here are some points to consider while making your decision:

  • Campus and Location: Jamia Millia Islamia is located in Delhi while Aligarh Muslim University is located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Delhi is a larger city and offers more opportunities for internships and placements, while Aligarh is a smaller town with a more relaxed pace of life.
  • Rankings: Both Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University are ranked among the top law schools in India. According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Jamia is ranked 8th among law colleges in India, while Aligarh is ranked 9th.

  • Curriculum: The curriculum for BA LLB at both institutions is likely to be similar, but it is important to check for any differences in the courses offered, as well as the flexibility and opportunities for specialization.
  • Infrastructure and Facilities: You may want to consider the infrastructure and facilities available at both institutions, including libraries, moot court halls, computer labs, hostels, and sports facilities.
  • Alumni Network and Placements: It is important to research the alumni network and placements offered by both institutions. Look for information on the companies and law firms that regularly recruit from the institutions, as well as the salary packages offered.

Is it worth going to University of Massachusetts Amherst by paying double instead of Portland State University in areas of Embedded Systems for Masters of Science in ECE?

JS
Jay Shete Posted On : February 4th, 2021
System engineer at Infosys

If you go by the brand name and ranking, University of Massachusetts clearly is our winner. But what about other factors? Let us consider three parameters to choose a better University for you shall we?

  1. Job opportunities after graduation
  2. Research opportunities
  3. Funding

Job opportunities:

When it comes to job opportunities, PSU has an edge because of its proximity to Intel. But UMass weighs equally if not less because of its brand name and connections it has. Upon that UMass is a huge University which offers you tons of connections globally. So there is a tie between both UMass and PSU.

Research:

Students at Massachusetts, Amherst usually team up with the University faculties in their ongoing research projects along with pursuing their degree. The department focuses majorly on Computer networking, embedded systems and Computer system security.

PSU on the other hand is a great University if you are looking to pursue your career in front end VLSI. It's curriculum aligns perfectly with the technology which Intel is using.

Funding:

UMass Amherst clearly beats PSU in both internal and external research funding. If your area of focus aligns with that of the university, then well you would just hit a jackpot! While PSU still offers internal research grants upto $5,000 UMass is on par with that.

With one tie and two leads, University of Massachusetts Amherst is a clear winner. So yes, the money you pay at UMass is clearly worth it and you can earn a lot more than your investment within a few years of graduation.

What do you suggest between University of Windsor & Ryerson University for MEng in mechanical? In the view of part-time work as well as a job after completing a Master's.

RP
Ritu Patel Posted On : February 3rd, 2021
M.Eng(Industrial) from University of Windsor (2018)

Both the universities are equally good for mechanical engineering. According to Times Higher Education Rankings 2021 University of Windsor has been ranked #251 and Ryerson University has been ranked #301 for engineering. Here are the pros and cons of both universities:

University of Windsor

  • Job after graduation is easier to find in Windsor which can be considered as a better option.
  • The living expenses at Windsor are less and affordable.
  • Part-time job offers are also available.
  • It is offered as a 2 years full-time course so you may feel time and budget restrained.

Ryerson University

  • More part –time job opportunities are available in Toronto so plenty of opportunities to support your funds
  • Since it's Toronto, the expenses are also high and you might feel at loss of time and money in spite of working part-time.
  • This program is offered full-time (for 1 year) and part-time for (2 years) so it's pretty flexible and depends on your needs and plans.
  • The program at Ryerson is thesis-based, course-based and has co-op work options.
Parameters University of Windsor Ryerson University
Student to faculty ratio 29:1 19:1
Fees $ 19,421 (1 year) $ 20,496 (2 years)
TOEFL 83/120 93/120
IELTS 6.5/9 7/9
PTE 65/75 63/90
Admission intake Winter Fall

On looking at the above comparison one can decide which University is suitable.

What is better for mathematics and computing, IIT Kanpur vs IIT Kharagpur vs IIT Guwahati vs IIT BHU?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : March 30th, 2023

If you are interested in CSE but choosing Mathematics and Computing just for the sake of overlapping courses, then trust me you are making the wrong decision. I have seen many CSE branch seekers taking Mathematics and Computer to land CSE-related jobs. Let me tell you frankly, Mathematics and Computing are no substitutes for Computer Science.

If you want to get a deeper understanding of this, go through the Syllabus of Mathematics. You will find most courses that are theoretical, abstract, and purely mathematical and very few courses related to Computer Science. Mathematics at IITs is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is extremely tough, unlike JEE Math.

However, if you are passionate about Mathematics and want to pursue a research career in it, go for it. The courses might include lengthy proofs of Mathematical Induction and set and relation theory. Discuss the curriculum once with students of Mathematics at IIT and then make the final decision. Usually, the coursework in Mathematics and Computing is the same for all the IIT Branches.

To sum it up, if you are planning to take Mathematics and Computers just for the CSE courses, please make a better decision. My best advice would be to go for CSE in a better engineering college like IIT Hyderabad or Indore.

Is CSE dual-degree at IIEST Shibpur or EE/Mech/IT at Jadavpur University better placement wise?

AB
Anureema Banerjee Posted On : September 15th, 2020
MBA Operations, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2021)

Being one of the most prestigious Universities in India, IIEST Shibpur sees a lot more top companies for placement purposes every year. Jadavpur University on the other hand also has a high placement rate but oversees more core companies as compared to IIEST.

  • Funds: IIEST Shibpur receives a high amount of funding from the central government annually, being a public university, and therefore has a better campus, more equipped facilities, and better tech services as compared to Jadavpur University.
  • Crowd: Since IIEST is considered among the top college of national importance, it enrolls students from all over the country, therefore, making it a diverse environment culturally.
  • Placements: Although, for students looking for courses in CSE, Jadavpur University is known to offer a 100% placement record with an average salary package of 19.96 LPA. Some of the top recruiting companies are Microsoft, Reliance, Samsung, Oracle, and more. IIEST offers the highest placements across the Information Technology branch with an average salary of 5 LPA.
  • Course Offered: If students are looking for an integrated course that offers placement services, then the BTech+MTech dual degree course offered by IIEST Shibpur is apt considering Jadavpur University does not offer dual degree courses as part of their curriculum. But in terms of individual placements in the streams of Civil, Mechanical, andEE, Jadavpur University offers some great placements for students amongst some top recruiting companies.

Being well known nationally, IIEST attracts more number of companies for placements but Jadavpur University offers a higher number of core company placements across specific streams. It offers the highest salary package of 42 LPA whereas IIEST offers the highest salary package of 39.12 LPA.

Therefore, students can make a choice related to which university offers better placements depending upon the core subjects they are looking at studying.

What should I choose between IIM Ahmedabad PGP-FABM and XLRI Jamshedpur HRM provided that I am an agricultural engineering student?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : May 20th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

I assume that you have both options IIM Ahmedabad PGP-FABM and XLRI HRM. If that is the case, then you should make a well-informed decision based on your personal inclinations.

If you had taken Agricultural Engineering because you were genuinely interested in it, then IIM Ahmedabad, PGP-FABM is the best choice for you.

However, if you had to take Agricultural Engineering because that was the last option you had, then it makes no sense to continue with it. In that case, XLRI HRM is the best option for you. This is because the job opportunities after FABM, are scarce, and you. HRM will fetch you office jobs.

Brand-wise both institutes are similar with IIMA having the upper hand. Placements-wise, HRM is better unless you have an interest in Agricultural Engineering.
