Both the branches, whether CSE in IIEST Shibpur or ETCE in Jadavpur University is worth their name. Still, there are many factors regarding Rankings, Admission Process, Fees, Scholarships, and Placements that differentiates them.Jadavpur University acquires a spot as 17th college in BTech amongst 300 in India 2020.IIEST Shibpur, on the other hand, stands firm with 21st ranking amongst Engineering institutes, as per NIRF Ranking 2020.

ADMISSIONS:

Jadavpur University:

• To be eligible for the JU admission process, a student must have 10+2 with 45% and scores of WBJEE. Later, a counseling process takes place.
• 90% of seats at JU are for domicile General Category and 10% for all Indian students.
• The seat intake for ETCE students for UG is 64 whereas, for PG courses, it is 28.

IIEST Shibpur:

• To be eligible, students must have their CBSE 10+2 scores with at least 45% and a minimum of 30% marks in English. The entrance exam for admissions is JEE Mains (Paper I). After selection, a student goes through JoSAA Counselling and CSAB Special Board.

Fees:

• The overall fees of BTech in JU is far less in comparison to IIEST Shibpur. A student has to pay a minimum fee of INR 9,600 for the whole course whereas, a student from IIEST has to pay INR 1.37 lakhs per year.
• Apart from this, JU offers scholarships to meritorious students. A few are SN Scholarship and DAAD Scholarship.

Placements:

Jadavpur University:

• According to the latest data, there was a 100% placement rate from JU. The highest annual package was INR 58 lakhs.
• The total number of eligible students from ETCE was 55, and 51 got placements. The average annual package for ETCE was INR 9 lakhs, and the highest was INR 39 lakhs.
• These students got into software and core companies. The top recruiters were Amazon, Synopsis, TATA Consultancy Services, HPCL, and Goldman Sachs. Some students even went for higher studies from this branch into IITs, IIMs, etc.

IIEST Shibpur:

• A drop in placements is visible from the past consecutive years in IIEST Shibpur. In 2017 it was 85.71%, 81.82% in 2018 and 72% in 2019.
• The average annual package of a CSE student is INR 9 lakh while the highest package was 39.12 lakhs.
• 90 reputed companies came for final placement and made 462 offers.
• Some of thetop recruiters were Cognizant, Infinity Infosys Parks, Capgemini, etc.

Looking into the above factors, ETCE from JU proves to be a better option than CSE in IIEST Shibpur in rankings, fees, placements criteria.

LNCT is recognized by AICTE and NBA and is affiliated under Rajiv Gandhi Technical University. It is ranked 251 among top institutes for BTech among NIRF 2020 Rankings. In 2019-20, a total of 964 students were placed in top companies.

UIT RGPV Bhopal has highly experienced faculty members most of them being PhD holders from institutes like IITs and NITs. The institute is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidiyalaya (RGPV).

Admission Details

• Students must have secured 60% marks in their 10+2 qualifying exams with a valid score in JEE Main for BTech admission.
• Students applying for postgraduate courses should have 60% in their graduation in BTech or BE.
• MTech students will be selected on the basis of GATE rank.
• The final selection will be based on the entrance exams.

• Separate hostels of boys and girls are available with all the basic necessities like canteen, public phone, cold drinking water, hot bathing water, etc.

LNCT definitely has a better placement record than UIT RGPV Bhopal. The highest salary package offered is 19.5 LPA by LNCT whereas UIT RGPV Bhopal, their highest salary package offered is 10.05 LPA. 

VIT Bhopal is a new institute and Thapar University has a legacy of over 50 years. Thapar University is considered the best option for engineering after IITs, NITs, and BITS.

So in order to get admission in Thapar University, candidates would require a good score in their previous qualifying examination. Whereas VIT provides admission in management quota too hence candidates are provided admission irrespective of their marks. As a result, Thapar has a better peer group than VIT Bhopal.

NIET Noida is one of India’s leading private academic institutions that offers a total of 25 courses across Engineering, Pharmacy, Management and Computer Applications. All degree courses are offered in affiliation to APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University and has been ranked as the number 1 private engineering college in Greater Noida by Data Quest in 2020.

BBDNITM is a private institution based in Lucknow that offers 22 undergraduate and graduate programs across 4 streams in Management, IT, Engineering and Medicine & Health Sciences.

• Location: NIET Noida is located within NCR which is considered to be a major hub of top MNC’s and IT firms which will definitely be an advantage in terms of placements as opposed to BBDNITM which due to its remote location does not attract too many core corporate companies.
• Faculty: Both the colleges have great faculties from all around the country but NIET Noida is known for employing the best faculty who are professionals and bring their academic expertise to provide students with the best overall experience. There is a more rational focus on developing skills and research-based methods as compared to BBDNITM.
• Admissions: The admissions criteria for both the colleges are done through UPSEE entrance exams along with a minimum of 45% score in the 12^th. NIET Noida also has more number of seats for engineering courses compared to BBDNITM.
• Infrastructure: Being an older university, BBDNITM has less equipped campus facilities. It offers practical labs, a library, hostels, and a sports complex. NIET Noida has its campus spread across 14 acres with a well-stocked library, updated practical labs, seminar halls, a sports complex, and an auditorium.
• Placements: NIET Noida observes the maximum number of placements from the engineering field with a total of 34%. In 2019, 1772 students were placed with the highest salary of 11 LPA. Some of the top companies that offer placements are Infosys, Genpact, Accenture, and cognizant. BBDNITM observes a placement rate of 70% with companies like HDFC Life, Airtel, Sapient, and Wipro offering recruitments.
