What facilities are provided in the 1st year hostels at NIT Calicut NITC? Do each student get a table and lockable cupboard?
My brother was a student at NIT Calicut so I have information on the boy's hostel only. The first-year students are allocated to 2 hostels namely Hostel A and Hostel PG-1.
Hostel A
- Triple Occupancy rooms.
- Each room has one table and cupboards with locks per person.
Hostel PG-1
- Very small rooms for 2 people.
- The room has a single table only with no specific cupboards.
Hostel A seems to have better facilities than PG-. So if you get the second one, be ready to compromise on many things with your roommate.
Common facilities in both hostels
Here are a few common amenities that can be found in both the boys' hostel
- A mess that serves food only to the first-year students. The food served here is average with more veg and less non-veg options.
- Well-maintained and clean bathrooms and toilets.
- The hostel rooms are lit adequately and have proper ventilation.
- There is a smooth electricity supply with rarely any issues.
- The hostel has no internet access.
Overall, the hostel facilities at NIT Calicut are like any other institute, average and tolerable.
How can I get a hostel seat in Kirori Mal College (Delhi University)?
Here is how you can apply for hostel seats in Kirori Mal College according to my friends.
- After you secure admission at KMC, go to the hostel gate and get the brochure containing the form, by paying the required amount. It usually costs around Rs. 150.
- Fill up the form carefully and submit it.
- You will be notified to appear for a personal interview. It is not exactly an interview, you will just need to sign against your name. Be on time.
- After a few days, the cutoff will be declared and a list of eligible candidates will be displayed on the notice board.
If you are eligible you will just need to visit the hostel office and submit the required fees and documents.
How are the hostels at Central University of Rajasthan?
One of my friends studied at Central University of Rajasthan (CURAJ). As he has availed the hostel facilities, let me share the details which might give you a clear idea.
- The hostel is in good condition with rooms available on a sharing basis.
- Each student will get a bed, a chair, an almirah, a chair, and a mattress.
- There is a good source of light in every room by a window, a tube light, and a night lamp.
- Proper stable internet connectivity is given to all.
- There is a common washroom in every hostel. The cleaners maintain the cleanliness of the hostel.
- There is a reading room in every hostel.
- Every hostel has a register where you can lodge your complaint.
Along with all these good facilities, there are some things that might come as disappointing, these include, the shortage of water, no common room in the hostels and the mess is combined for two hostels.
Despite these drawbacks, he mentions that the hostels are appropriate for a student's needs.
How is a girl's life at NIT Agartala?What are the hostel in and out timings?
My sister was a hosteller at NIT Agartala and lived a life full of restrictions and rules. The hostel timing is very rigid around 6 PM. The college ends at 5: 30 so you have only half an hour to stay outside the hostel. This is very illogical especially if you are someone who likes to roam around and explore the campus. Even worse, the weekend timings are 5:30 PM so you have no time to enjoy. From what I heard, the hostel supervisor is very strict and gives no flexibility or freedom to girls. He ensures that all hostel rules are followed religiously.
In terms of facilities, NIT Agartala is one of the best colleges with a beautiful infrastructure and hostel facilities. Just remember that you won’t be able to enjoy your freedom here and might have to adjust to hostel rules.
What are the things to be carried for a hostel in XIMB?
You are supposed to carry the following documents for getting a hostel at XIMB.
- All the certificates of your educational qualification i.e. 10th, 12th and graduation.
- Your personal debit or credit card for making payments.
- Any identification card like PAN Card, AAdhar Card, or passport.
- You also need to carry your own bed sheets, pillow cover, towel and light quilt, toiletries.
- You will also need to carry your own kettle if you are a tea or coffee lover and want to make them in your room.
- You will also need to carry your own hot plate that will help you in making any kind of food in the hostel room.
- An extension cord if necessary. It is very useful as charging points are often far from the bed
- All your medicines general and specific medicine if you are suffering from any disease.
- You must also carry your prescriptions which will help you to get treatment in case you are going to the doctor.
- Your personal belongings.
- You can also carry your iron for pressing clothes and LAN cable for Wifi connection if necessary.
Other than that, you can find all the other amenities nearby.
How are girls hostels at NIT Hamirpur?
Depending on your year, you’ll be allotted one of these hostels at NIT Hamirpur-
- AGH- AGH is allotted to first and second year girls. This hostel has very spacious rooms. The rooms are really good in comparison to those at boys’ hostels. Each room is shared by three girls and divided into three sections, with curtains at the entrance. You’ll get two attached balconies, which you’ll share with the side rooms. The corridors are spacious and wide. AGH is located 1 km downhill from the academic block. Thus, the walk back and forth is quite exhausting. First year girls have to be back by 6 pm. In the 2nd year, this timing is extended to 8 pm.
- PGH- You’ll be allotted PGH from 3rd year of your degree. Its rooms are very small. Monkeys and lizards are occasional visitors. Final year students, though not all, are allotted single rooms. It is comparatively closer to the academic block (closer by mere 100 meters). You won’t have to climb uphill as before. The hostel timing for 3rd and 4th year girls remains 8 pm.
Mrs. Awasthi is a bit strict as a warden, Mrs. Kaur is nice and helpful. You will be allotted either of them. The mess food is quite decent in both the girls’ hostels, much better than the boys’ hostels.
Thus, overall, girls’ hostels at NIT Hamirpur are quite decent.
Do all students get hostels at NIT Raipur?
All the students at NIT Raipur do not get hostels as the institute provides a limited residential facility for boys and girls. There are only 5 boys and 3 girls hostels within the campus.
- Hostel allocation is based on branch wise merit list. There is a cut-off score in each branch according to the total number of students and the number of accommodations available in the hostel.
- There is a reservation system. Aside from the merit list, the hostel allocation practice is also based on the category of students i.e General, SC, ST, OBC. A lot of deserving students don't get hostel accommodation.
This is a hostel allotment system for both Boys and Girls. Some of the students are day scholars while some do not favor staying in the hostel, but others are ready to stay in but do not get it.
How are the hostels at NIT Calicut for freshers? What are some pictures of the hostel rooms?
NIT Calicut first-year students are allotted 2 hostels namely
- Hostel A: This room has 3 beds, cupboards, and tables. Although the rooms are triple occupancy, 4 students are made to stay together
- PG-1 : This hostel has double occupancy rooms only although the rooms are smaller in size than Hostel A.
In my opinion, it's better to get Hostel A because the rooms are spacious and it has better facilities than PG-1. From what I have heard, PG-1 mess has better food than Hostel A but that does not really matter because you can change your mess after a few months. The internet facilities are poor and this matter needs to be taken care of. The restrictions are imposed on first-year students but from the second year, students are free to do as their will. Trust me hostel life is much more than comfortable beds and mess food. It's about the friends you make and the memories you create!
How are hostels at IIIT Lucknow?
Some of my friends from IIIT Lucknow have said their hostels are all about the newly built, grand and very well equipped and built.
Hostels are large, modern, full of natural light and air.They have good quality furniture, are well built, fully furnished including beds, table, chair and Almirah.
Total hygiene is ensured of each part of the hostel premises. Washrooms are cleaned at least twice everyday. Kitchen and hostel rooms are also cleaned upon permission of the hostels residing inside those rooms.
The newly built infrastructure is the latest, and beautiful. Lecture theatres and labs have state of the art facilities. Clean drinking water is available 24/7 along with Wi-Fi and electricity. A fully equipped clinic is present having at least one residential nurse along with a Visiting doctor. A Warden, security guard and other caretakers are present all time inside the hostel to ensure your security. You may approach the warden at any time if you have a problem with something
A fully functional mess with a capacity of 200 people at a time is present in the hostel. It serves meals 4 times a day. A committee is present that is responsible for maintaining the quality, taste, variety and hygiene of the served food.Wi-Fi and LAN connections are present at every corner of the hostel.
An indoor common area for gatherings, carrom, chess, board games and outside, 2 badminton courts are present.You may avail the laundry service or you can opt to wash your clothes by automatic washing machines present in the hostel itself.The furniture and lifts are physically handicapped friendly. Newspapers are provided daily. There is a Tata sky subscription to all channels. The hostels do not discriminate among students.
What is the condition of the girls hostel in GBPUAT Pantnagar?
The condition of the girl’s hostel is above average. It is said to be better than other government institutions.
The food is quite decent. Hostel rooms come with cupboards, beds, and study tables. WiFi facility is also available in some hostels.
Washrooms are to be shared but once you get used to it, blending in becomes easy. So relax as you are going to have a great time at Pantnagar's hostel.
