Do all students get hostels at NIT Raipur?

All the students at NIT Raipur do not get hostels as the institute provides a limited residential facility for boys and girls. There are only 5 boys and 3 girls hostels within the campus.

• Hostel allocation is based on branch wise merit list. There is a cut-off score in each branch according to the total number of students and the number of accommodations available in the hostel. 
• There is a reservation system. Aside from the merit list, the hostel allocation practice is also based on the category of students i.e General, SC, ST, OBC. A lot of deserving students don't get hostel accommodation.

This is a hostel allotment system for both Boys and Girls. Some of the students are day scholars while some do not favor staying in the hostel, but others are ready to stay in but do not get it.
