The overall rankings of FMS Delhi and IIM A/C are comparable (IIM A & C rank better than FMS in terms of placements and college life though).
FMS has its own set of advantages, such as the best ROI in India and placements in the core Finance domain, among many others. You must have performed exceptionally well on CAT 201 to receive a call from FMS. Asking yourself the following questions will help you retake the CAT.
What do you hope to gain from your post-graduation experience?
Start a career at a high salary, get a brand name, or develop your own personality by staying and studying with the industry's best minds.
Which field do you want to begin your career in?
Consulting/core finance/marketing, for example.
Are you willing to invest a year of your life to prepare for the CAT again, and are you confident of scoring 99+ percentile in 2019?
The maximum amount of money you can afford to pay in fees.
I have seen many students prefer JU to new IITs because of the experience and legacy it holds in contrast to recently established IITs. None of these students regret their decision of choosing JU over IIT.
JU has the upper hand in terms of both placements and the quality of research work here. In fact, top NITs, BITS, JU, DTU, NSIT, IIITs, and such institutes are all better options than most of the newer IITs. These institutes have good credibility owing to their strong alumni network thus providing better opportunities. Those who prefer to stay on the safe side give more preference to these institutes than newer IITs.
The new IITs are expected to reach heights in the future and only then will you be able to benefit from their IIT tag. As of now, they lack credibility and opportunities.
Ultimately, it’s your call to make because you can even avail the best opportunities through minimal resources.
B.Tech in Biotechnology offers a mixed curriculum covering areas of science, technology, and engineering. It also focuses on research. The Manipal brand may add to your profile but it depends on your interests. There are a plethora of opportunities in Industrial biotechnology & biochemical engineering whereas life science-oriented fields need more time. For more opportunities in that field, you will have to pursue a Masters.
MIR Manipal is a decent option for BTech in Biotechnology. The batch size is small and the faculties are great. Students get one-to-one attention from professors which is very crucial for an R&D-oriented stream. Professors have a lot of ongoing projects so you will learn a lot here.
Students are provided with internships, placements, and pre-placement offers (PPO) in core companies and ITES. Some of the core companies that recruit Biotechnology students of MIT Manipal are Nicholas Piramal Ltd., Philips HealthCare, Biocon, Syngene, Dr. Reddys, GlaxoSmithKline Asia Pvt Ltd, Molecular Connections Pvt Ltd, Wipro Wellness Care, Solara Active Pharma, Elexes Medical and Hyde Engineering. Other companies such as IBM, TCS, Accenture, Infosys, Wipro, PricewaterhouseCoopers, UST Global, Tolaram Group, Gen Works, The Math Company, and Think & Learn visit campus placements regularly.
VNIT Nagpur is my alma mater, and I deeply respect my college.
However, here is something about VNIT that needs immediate improvement-
The college authorities follow curfew timings for girls’ hostels, without taking any consent from parents or students. This is a form of gender bias, and I am strictly against it. In-time prevents female students from accessing the reading room and labs after a certain time of the day. Instead of restricting the movement of female students, the campus should be made safer for women.
I sincerely hope that the college authorities make positive changes in this direction.
Here are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at the University of Kashmir.
The university arranges many socio-cultural activities throughout the academic year. Give the activities a try, you can have an amazing experience.
I am assuming that you got CSE at IIT Delhi. As per my research, for CSE, IIIT Hyderabad is at par with the top 5 IITs in this field (Madras, Delhi, Bombay, Kanpur, and Kharagpur). According to the three possibilities listed below, choose the right college for your B.Tech CSE-
As far as CSE placements are concerned, they are as good at IIIT H, as any IIT. At IIIT H, you are sure to get placed in a tech profile. A good number of tech companies visit the IIIT H campus for placements, at par with the top IITs.
Thus, based on your personal preference you can choose between IIT Delhi and IIIT Hyderabad for your CSE.
IIT Kanpur is well-known for its cutting-edge research, vibrant coding culture, and successful placements. Students rush to it because of its coding culture, which is sometimes compared to that of IIT Bombay.
I will recommend you go for IIT Kanpur. Here are a few reasons that justify my opinion:-
The answer to your question depends on the reason why you are willing to pursue an MBA and if the reason is strong enough to go for an MBA at the age of 29 years. See, age should never be a restricting factor especially when it comes to education. But your purpose should be well-defined and crystal clear. Pursuing MBA vaguely just to venture on new opportunities or career options might do you more harm than good. So the primary step in deciding if an MBA at 29 is good or not is to analyze your purpose. If you are changing streams for instance moving to Finance or MC, you need to know that your pay scale might see a new low.
I have another suggestion for you. Why don’t you compare the two programs;
Compare the curriculum and prospects of these two programs. The reason why I suggested to you research the Executive program is that many experienced professionals (almost 95%) prefer the Executive program over the regular program. It suits their needs better.
The 2-year program is suitable only if you are looking for an internship and I Don't think that is the case for you. Moreover, if you consider the major aspects like classroom experience, rigor and placements, the Executive program is far more a viable option in your case. It will also allow you to reap the maximum benefits in less time. So do your part of the research and make an informed decision.
If you are considering pursuing Mathematics and Computing at either IIT Kharagpur or IIT BHU, it is important to evaluate the strengths and opportunities offered by each institution. Here are some key points to consider in this regard:
If you are interested in pursuing Mathematics and Computing, IIT Kharagpur is a great choice with a strong reputation, impressive placement records, and opportunities for high-paying jobs both in India and abroad.
The best option among the options you mentioned is BITS Pilani- Dual degree with Maths. This is because, with a good CGPA, you can even get into Computer Science there. Moreover, Mathematics is the foundation of Computer Science and all major coding problems. This excellent combination will help you open multiple doors for higher education.
BITS Pilani is one of the best engineering colleges in India. It’s known for its excellent curriculum, faculty, lab facilities, and amazing campus. Moreover, BITS Pilani follows the GPA system which puts you at a certain level of advantage for pursuing higher studies, especially at foreign universities.
The only major advantage of BITS is its location and high fees. Students from Delhi might find it difficult to adjust here. So unless you have no problem with the location and financial constraints, choose BITS. Else, NITS is also a good option.
