It's just a preconceived notion that Srinagar is an unsafe place to study in. The media has portrayed the wrong image and harmed the reputation of the institute. There are regular classes from 9-5. Students can be seen strolling around the campus and visiting Dal Lake, Lal Chowk. The issues the public is concerned about usually happen around the border areas. Such minor issues can be found in every state so I believe it's the media that has instilled in the mind of the public that NIT Srinagar is not a safe place. The reality is you will enjoy your time here and feel absolutely safe!
Hindustan University is lenient in comparison to other institutions in Chennai. But there are some rules that you should follow as its student-
Students usually don’t take the rules seriously. However, I would recommend you follow these basic rules to not get into any trouble.
Yes, NIT Trichy offers a vibrant and fun-filled campus life, and apart from academics you can enjoy your life and create amazing memories here. Students here are well aware that these college days are some of the most precious years so they spare time from academics for fun activities and extracurriculars.
Inside Campus
Outside Campus:
So yes, NIT Trichy is a place where you can enjoy your college life to the fullest.
I don’t really understand why you want to change campuses when the Mumbai campus is the most coveted one. I have a friend who despite being an IBS Hyderabad pass-out, considers the Mumbai campus way superior after spending months on a summer internship there.
He considers the IBS Hyderabad to be overestimated and apart from infrastructure, IBS Powai/Hiranandani is much better in all aspects. Moreover, the Mumbai campus enjoys the locational advantage of being closest to the city of dreams. The campus is in the vicinity of IIT Mumbai so you get to interact with many geniuses also.
On the other hand, IBS Shankarpally, despite having top-notch infrastructure, lacks connectivity. You are disconnected from other students and the entire world if you choose this college.
Yes, IGNOU notes on BA and MA public administration are surely helpful for optional public h administration in the UPSC. This is because IGNOU study material is prepared by experienced professionals. They are PhD degree holders.
There are many candidates who have passed UPSC alongside pursuing a PG course from IGNOU. They give the rightful credit to IGNOU for passing the UPSC. Times of India has interviewed many such candidates of IGNOU who have claimed the study material from the university to be their best friend.
IGNOUs study material has been designed to facilitate self study. This is why it is easier than other course material. Also, the quality is top notch. It is available at your study centre for a fairly low price.
GATE and UPSC exams have a lot of similarities. Both these exams are high up on the difficulty level and are attempted by graduates. Questions in GATE are based on problem-solving and questions in UPSC are meant to test the discipline of a candidate.
However, if you are smart in choosing your optional subjects for UPSC & GATE, then studying the same subjects can help you in both of these exams. This is especially true if you are preparing for the Engineering Services Exam (ESE) in UPSC.
Similarities in Syllabus:
For technical subjects, the ESE and GATE syllabus are almost similar (80-90%). Even in the non-technical part the Engineering Aptitude and Engineering Mathematics parts are the same for ESE and GATE.
You only need to prepare for general study subjects like Current Affairs, Ethics, Project Management, Basic Energy and Environment, Information and Communication Technologies, Standard and Quality, Material Science, and Design-drawing for ESE.
It may seem like a lot of subjects, but these are quite interesting and take less time to cover. The study material of these subjects has hardly 150-200 pages including practice papers.
Preparing for GATE & UPSC simultaneously is difficult, but not impossible. Through a clever selection of optional subjects and hard work, you can prepare efficiently to tackle both these exams.
Attaining a high CGPA of around 9 isn’t exactly very challenging at NIT Patna because the exams aren’t very rigorous and the competition is just average. All you need to do is attend classes regularly and maintain notes religiously.
The exam papers are usually not very tough. You just need to write the words of the professors exactly. If you ever come across a question that is out of the syllabus, then you can approach the professors and express your concern. Develop a good rapport with the professors and pay special attention to the classes.
A high CGPA of around 9 is very important for core branches because only a handful of core companies like BPCL allow very few students, preferably toppers for placements. CSE companies just need a 7 or 8+ CGPA for placements.
The first-year students of NIT Hamirpur might feel a little lost since it is a remote location and a completely new place. Here are a few important tips for students starting their first year at NIT Hamirpur
Hope these tips make your first year at NIT Hamirpur productive!
My friend had options of Ph.D. from JU, IIEST as well as IIT Patna and still chose IIT Patna. She claimed that IIT Patna had a better research culture and the professors get work published in very good journals, A/A* conferences, etc. The professors motivate the students for the same and this aspect attracted him the most. However, your personal preferences also come to play here. So consider the following points
Choose IIT Patna for its research culture and not the IIT tag.
