IIT Kanpur is well-known for its cutting-edge research, vibrant coding culture, and successful placements. Students rush to it because of its coding culture, which is sometimes compared to that of IIT Bombay.

I will recommend you go for IIT Kanpur. Here are a few reasons that justify my opinion:-

  • The IIT tag is more valuable than the IIIT brand name, and most employers prefer IIT graduates over students from other engineering universities.
  • You'll have two excellent department buildings with excellent infrastructure.
  • With so many assignments and course projects under your belt, you'd have a huge list of project accomplishments.
  • You would have some fantastic lecturers and courses.
  • IIT Kanpur has an NIRF ranking of 4th, with IIIT Hyderabad at 55th.
  • More than 250 companies like Plutus Research, Kivi Capital, and NVIDIA FVE visited IIT Kanpur campus in 2023.

IIIT Hyderabad is known for its cutting-edge research work, rich coding culture, and excellent placements. Students flock to it because of its coding culture which is sometimes even compared to that of IIT Bombay.

Contrary to the general trend, I will recommend you go for IIT Kanpur instead. Here are a few reasons that justify my opinion.

  • IIIT Hyderabad indeed has excellent placements and delivers quality education but lacks in terms of global recognition. IIT on the other hand is known globally and IITians can easily opt for PhDs from foreign universities.
  • In India too, the IIT tag is more valuable than the IIIT brand name and most companies prefer IITians over students from other engineering colleges.
  • As far as the coding culture is concerned, I deem coding as something that can be learned by oneself with no help from the institute. Moreover, many times people indulge in coding because of her mentality and later find out it’s not their forte.

Ultimately, the choice of the ‘better’ institute is a matter of personal inclinations and should be made after careful consideration.
