As an alumnus of KJSCE, I can only tell you about my college. I do not know anything regarding VIT Pune.

Here is all you can expect from KJSCE-

  • Crowd- The college crowd is very lively, and the students take interest in various activities apart from their engineering studies. These include music, art, sports, tech, etc.
  • Faculty- The college faculty is quite friendly and supportive.
  • Learning Environment- KJSCE has a rich learning environment. All the support from faculty members and peers, and all the college resources are made available for a good project idea.
  • Campus- The college campus is beautiful. The Football, Volleyball and Cricket grounds are huge in size.
  • Events and Fests- The college tech fest- Abhiyantriki, and cultural fest- Symphony are a lot of fun. Lots of other events take place on campus.
  • Extracurriculars- Students of KJSCE regularly participate in Dance, Sports, Music and other extracurriculars.
  • Placements- Apart from mass recruiters like Infosys and Accenture, companies like Barclays, Rakuten, Morgan Stanley, etc. visit the campus for placements.

KJSCE is a decent college for your engineering studies. In the end, your hard work and dedication matters the most.

Which one is better for CSE: NIT Silchar, NIT Hamirpur or UPES Dehradun?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 29th, 2023

NIT Silchar seems to be a better option for CSE than NIT Hamirpur and UPES Dehradun. Here are some unique aspects of NIT Silchar that make it stand apart from these colleges

  • NIT Silchar is considered to be one of the top institutes of national importance in India delivering high-quality education in the field of engineering.
  • It was honored with the Outstanding Engineering Institute, East India by the ABP News National Education Awards.
  • Additionally, it was awarded the award of best engineering college in eastern India by the leading industry body ASSOCHAM in the National Education Excellence Awards 2014.
  • NIT Silchar got a 9/9 grade on the TEQIP project. There are only 3 NITs to achieve this.
  • NIT Silchar has the honor of receiving some valuable comments from the President of India.
  • NIT Silchar is one of the 3 NITs that have a supercomputer.
  • NIT Silchar is above many NITs in the MHRD rankings so it should be given high preference.
  • NIT Silchar has amazing infrastructural facilities such as an Auditorium, Stadiums, Courts, Sports Complex, Boating Club, the largest Central Library, etc

The above points are more than enough to convince you to join NIT Silchar instead of UPES Dehradun and NIT Hamirpur.

Which AIIMS is better, AIIMS BBSR or AIIMS Patna?

Aparna Das Posted On : June 8th, 2023

I am the right person to answer this question as I have visited both institutes for personal purposes and am eligible to comment on their worth. When it comes to AIIMS, there are 2 primary factors to consider.

  • Culture: Considering the fact that all AIIMS are on the same level with minor differences, it’s the college culture you are looking for that becomes the driving factor in your decision. North Indians who don’t want a change in environment prefer AIIMS Patna while those who want to explore other cultures and go out of their comfort zone choose AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
  • Academics: Again, all AIIMS are almost equal academically but AIIMS Bhubaneswar is slightly better. Additionally, Bhubaneswar is more developed than Patna and has all the basic amenities that a student requires. Patna has a less student-friendly environment and also lacks hygiene due to overpopulation.

All in all, these two factors should not be the only factors you consider and it’s better to talk to alumni

What should I choose between Manipal computer science vs BITS Goa electronics and instrumentation (no interest in a particular branch)?

SG
Shruti Gupta Posted On : August 3rd, 2022
Studied at Manipal University

If you aren’t particularly interested in CSE, it will be better to choose BITS Goa Electronics and Instrumentation. You will get excellent placement opportunities and exposure from BITS Goa. During 2021 placements, the highest CTC received by the institute was INR 43.3 LPA. Google, Cisco, CRED, Flipkart, etc. are some of the major recruits that frequent BITS Goa placements.

If you are planning on pursuing higher education abroad, you will get better exposure from BITS Goa. The BITS brand name is more recognized compared to Manipal.

I have converted both FMS and IIM Lucknow. My ACADS are below average and I have 3 years of work experience in IT. Which is better for me?

OT
Omkar Thakur Posted On : February 2nd, 2021
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (2020)

IIM Lucknow and FMS both the institute are both reputed B-Schools of India. Discussed below are some factors which may help you compare the two institutes.

Batch size:

FMS has a smaller batch. If your academic profile is not good it is reasonable to join an institute with a smaller batch.

Return on Investment:

FMS has a lower fee range. But the overall cost of living in a flat if you are not allotted the limited hostel seats offsets the often quoted ROI advantage that FMS is said to have over IIM Lucknow. But in the matter, you can stay in the DU hostel, the ROI difference is not that much between IIM L and FMS.

The IIM Brand:

Being one of the older IIMs, second only to the holy trinity A, B, C, IIM L’s brand value is more significant and definitely stands the test of time. While FMS is a GREAT institute, the IIM tag has a global reputation.

Campus Experience:

The chance to live in a full-fledged campus at IIM Lucknow, as half the batch lives in the DU hostel and the other half in flats has an edge over the campus experience for FMS. Reviews from students indicate that IIM Lucknow is the more charming campus to spend time at, both in terms of enjoyment and peer learning.

Placements:

It depends on your choice of specialization.

  • FMS is great for marketing. Being in NCR several big FMCG come to FMS for recruitment. FMS has various choices of roles on offer.
  • On the other hand, IIM Lucknow has better consulting placements owing to the consulting companies inclined towards favoring the IIM brand.
  • For finance, both the colleges are on the same level. IIM L has a slight advantage but it is balanced by the huge batch size.

The table shows a brief overview of the institutions.

Particulars

FMS Delhi

IIM Lucknow

Median Salary

Rs. 25.6 Lakh

Rs. 20 Lakh

Highest Salary

Rs. 58.6 Lakh

Rs. 54 Lakh

Entrance Criteria

CAT

CAT/XAT/GMAT

Fees

Rs. 1.92 Lakh

Rs. 19.25 Lakh

Hence, although the fears are well-founded, IIM Lucknow will be the potential choice over FMS.

Which course in TAPMI is better, the core PGDM, the HRM, or BKFS?

DK
Divya Kaur Posted On : May 2nd, 2023
Studied PGDM from T. A. Pai Management Institute (2011)

What's most important is that you enjoy it. The BKFS program is highly specialized and designed to equip students with the tools necessary to succeed in any financial-related field.

The PGDM's first year emphasizes variety over specialization. Two years into the program, you'll have the option to focus on either Marketing, Operations, or Finance. It's up to you to determine the kind of career you want to have. Everything in the new system will be up to the individual, replacing both the major and minor systems. Although the HR course is brand new, it will be just as rigorous and cover the same ground as other courses.

Why is IIM Ranchi considered the best among all the new IIMs?

AM
Amit Mittal Posted On : January 11th, 2023
FPM Accounting and Finance & Corporate Governance, Indian Institute of Management Ranchi (2019)
Before talking about what makes IIM Ranchi different from others let’s talk about what’s almost common among the IIMs.
  • Good faculty
  • Better placements
  • Strong alumni base
  • Inflated CTCs

In fact all the new IIMs are developing and in a decade or two they might be at level with Kozhikode or Lucknow if not A B or C.

Now what sets IIM Ranchi apart from the other new IIMS is its HRM degree in addition to a PGP degree. This tactic has helped Ranchi gain alumni in the HR sector. These alumni prefer their own institutes for placements. Many other B Schools like XLRI and MDI have implemented this strategy to climb the ladder quicker than others.

Generally, IIM Trichy, IIM Udaipur, and IIM Ranchi are of the same level but this strategy has somewhat differentiated Ranchi from the newer IIMs.

Is there any bias against IPM students during placements in IIM Indore? Are they considered equal to PGP students?

A
Aman Posted On : January 2nd, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Indore (Graduated 2018)

Yes, there indeed is a certain level of bias that IPM students face during the placement process. But the reason is well justified. Being a newly established course, IPM lacks the certainty of success. The industries are only gradually developing their trust towards this course over the years. So the recruiters are still a bit hesitant in investing in an IPM student.

But if you look at the figures, you can see that the course has been gaining trust and climbing the ladder drastically over the past few years. Also, I don’t think it’s justifiable to draw a comparison between a 7-year-old program that has already been recognized (PGP) to a newly established course (IPM).

People usually compare these 2 programs because they see IPM as a means to join IIM by escaping CAT. This is not the case at all. IPM is much more than that. It needs no comparison to any other program. It is a full-fledged integrated course that is way ahead of other undergrad or integrated courses across the nation both in terms of the kind of education it offers and the placements.

Which one is a better college to pursue an MBA: LBSIM -Delhi or BIM-Trichy?

AP
Alok Patel Posted On : July 5th, 2021
Studied at Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Trichy

This is always a tough question to answer. You can consider a number of assumptions in order to shortlist the business school you would like to go to. You can compare the one you like to them and make your decision:

  • Assumption 1: Business schools presently are student-driven and this mostly has nothing to do with the faculty, infrastructure, or even the knowledge capital for that matter. The classroom is the place that will facilitate you with all these opportunities and knowledge will be disseminated here. This needs to be applied to activities outside the classroom as well.
  • Assumption 2: Alumni are an important factor for colleges. Because of alumni connections, a lot of places like FMS, JBIMS, IMT Ghaziabad are quite well-known business schools.
  • Assumption 3: Part of who you become also depends on what activities you choose to pursue in college. These include clubs and committees, business school events, or if you choose to only focus on academics and get a good CGPA. This will surely help you get good placements.
  • Assumption 4: Sometimes, the location of the school will also play to your advantage. For eg. Mumbai or Delhi located B-schools.
  • Assumption 5: You should also know that rankings do not matter for the top 10 to 15 schools.
  • Assumption 6: The placements are dependent upon the alumni base and past history. Most companies that come for repeat recruitments are usually less than 50% for most business schools. Every year it comes down to reinvention and it boils down to the alumni. But, in reality, placements are hard work and luck with a 30:70 ratio. There are also the usual perceptions that some schools are better in marketing and others are good in finance, etc.

You should choose wisely and make your decision accordingly.
