GATE Life Sciences Previous Years’ Paper Analysis

The overall difficulty level of the Life Science paper in GATE 2022 was moderate.
According to students, General Aptitude, Zoology, Botany and Microbiology were the easy sections in the paper while chemistry and Food Technology were moderate.
The Biochemistry Section was the toughest section in the previous years’ Life Science Paper.

GATE XL Marking Scheme

There is no negative marking for MSQs and NATs.
Negative marking is applicable in MCQs.
Marks deducted for every incorrect attempt is 1/3 marks in 1-mark MCQ.
Marks deducted for every incorrect attempt is 1/3 marks in 2-mark MCQ
Zero marks are awarded for questions that are not attempted.
