- The exam was conducted in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode. 3 hours were allotted to solve 65 questions
- The full marks of the GATE 2020 BM were 100. All the questions carrying either 1 or 2 marks
- There was a negative marking pattern for every wrong attempt answer, 1/3 marks would be deducted for every MCQ carrying 1 mark. 2/3 marks would be deducted for every wrong MCQ carrying 2 marks
- No marks were deducted if attempted NAT question turned out to be incorrect, or if the NATs or MCQs goes unattempted
