GATE 2018 GG Paper Analysis

• In GATE 2018 GG Question Paper, 10 questions were asked related to Aptitude, 25 questions were asked in Part A of the paper which was common and compulsory for every candidate to attempt, and Part B had 30 questions.
• The Questions were in the form of MCQs and NAT carrying 1 or 2 marks each.
• For every incorrect answer, there is a negative marking scheme, For 1 mark MCQs 1/3 is deducted whereas for 2 marks MCQ 2/3 marks are deducted. No marks are reduced for incorrect NAT questions.
• The General Aptitude section of GATE 2018 GG carries a total of 15% marks and the rest 85% marks are from the core subject paper.
• The Part A of GATE 2018 GG has questions on the topics related to the Earth and Planetary system - size, shape, internal structure and composition of the earth; the concept of isostasy, Weathering and soil formation; landforms created by river, wind, glacier, ocean and volcanoes. Basic structural geology, etc.
• The Part B of GATE 2018 GG has questions purely based on Geology and Geophysics such as Geomorphic processes and agents; development and evolution of landforms; slope and drainage; processes in deep oceanic and near-shore regions; quantitative and applied geomorphology, Basic concepts of forward and inverse problems, Ill-posedness of inverse problems, condition number, etc.
• As per the aspirants' GATE 2018 GG was considered to be moderate in terms of difficulty level.
