GATE 2009 XE Question Paper with Answer Key PDF is available for download. GATE 2009 Engineering Sciences (XE) exam was conducted by IIT Roorkee on February 8 during the forenoon session. Candidates who took the exam rated the overall difficulty to be tough as the paper had some technical questions which were time consuming. GATE 2009 XE question paper was divided into 7 sections in all, out of which the 1st section was compulsory and from the remaining 6 sections, candidates were given a choice to opt for any 2. GATE 2009 XE Paper Analysis
GATE 2009 question paper was divided into 7 sections, which were marked from A to G.
Section A - Engineering Mathematics, was the compulsory section, while from the remaining 6 sections, candidates were given a choice to opt any 2 out of them. The sections were:
- Section B: Fluid Mechanics
- Section C: Material Science
- Section D: Solid Mechanics
- Section E: Thermodynamics
- Section F: Polymer Science & Engineering
- Section G: Food Technology

Negative marking was applicable for each wrongly marked MCQ, whereas, no marks were deducted for the questions left unattempted. Candidates could carry a calculator which did not have any data connectivity with them to the examination hall.
