The above recommendation declares that to become a well-rounded student, it should be necessary to take up several literature courses focusing on fictional works for their real intellectual maturation. This is a claim therefore; which I strongly do not agree with. Also, there are many reasons and statements that support my point of view, I would lay down the most noticeable ones that follow.

The part which I would like to state in order to support my argument would be the requirement of professionalism in today’s era. In our fast paced world, almost all of our tasks are intricate and precisely detailed which therefore requires the handiwork of an expert or a professional. To understand this better, it can be said that if an individual aspires to be successful in his career, it is imperative for him to possess a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of a specific field. Pertaining to this fact, a university or a college student has to organize a schedule keeping in mind their preferred field of study. They shall also include covering all the courses, subtopics, assignments, projects, seminars, workshops etc. related to their specific field. This would help the student develop their analytical, observational and structural abilities. In today’s demanding employment sector, pursuing courses not relevant to the program in study would be an extra burden on the student. This would also result in wastage of time thereby producing end means for the future.

Another argument worthy of being cited in favour of my disagreement would be that the recommendations make an attempt to portray literature as the prime way to broaden one’s horizons. In my opinion, a multi-faceted individual is one who has complete knowledge about various issues present in his surroundings. And evidently enough literature is not the only source for the same. In other words, such an individual is expected to possess equal levels of comprehension when it comes to fields of art, sciences, social sciences, literature as well as psychology. In contrast to which, the statement solely places emphasis on imaginary literature. For example, if a student of literary art is asked to take up a course on classic literature or fiction, would we consider this obligation as being helpful? In my opinion, no as it would simply involve giving time and effort into gaining knowledge on an already known topic along with consuming large amounts of money. Thus, the courses which are made a part of the program should instead focus on filling the gaps rather than reiterating the same things. In addition to this, as opposed to the prompt mentioned, literature cannot be considered to be the only important aspect of an all-rounder.

The concluding reason which I would like to put forward which makes this a faulty exchange of opinion would be the interest of the student. All people are full of energy, and of course, have different interests. For instance, one person can be eager towards the study of art while another can venture towards learning more. Therefore, in natural sciences, interest plays an important role in course selection. It has also been proven that one's capability and effectiveness towards a task increases if they are personally inclined towards the same. This has also been advocated by several detailed studies conducted which lay down that a person’s chance to succeed increases by almost fifty-five percent when the individual shows eagerness towards that field. Thus, burdening a student with courses on literature when he/she does not have sufficient interest in the same and it does not fall within their designated course of study would certainly not be instrumental to them in the way of becoming a well-crafted individual. The university should, in fact, encourage students to pursue what grabs their interest by providing them with the necessary resources. This would help them to harness their talent so they can contribute to the welfare of the society in future.

To finish off the same, all the reasons given here precisely and clearly express that compelling a student to take up courses on imaginative literature is a task. It would not achieve any viable targets. It would contribute towards becoming a vain effort, as all broad companies, employers hire prospects having specialized knowledge. And even freelancers focus on obtaining a specialty in addition to their regular program of study. Thus, literature is not the only sufficient means of promoting a person’s growth and not all students are equally interested in the same.
