The topic is determined by the efficiency of the GRE Problem essay. The greatness of individuals can be decided only by those who live after them, not by their contemporaries. To respond, consider the following strategies:

  • Selecting a side and adhering to it throughout the essay, as opposed to the GRE Analyse an Argument, where the author's statement must be critiqued. Candidates must stick to one side and try to prove that their point of view is correct.
  • While declaring reasons and examples, ensure significance and clarity to the real world. This will help the reader to have a better understanding of the candidate's viewpoint.
  • It is critical to make strong declarative statements that include active vocabulary and causation statements. The use of vocabulary always impresses the reader and is a crucial point in judging the candidate.

  • The conclusion should have the brief of the whole passage. This will contain important points discussed in the essay. The candidate can restate their view one final time.

Model Answer

How does one determine a person's greatness? It would be unfair to claim that only those who live after the person can judge his greatness. People who've lived with him have played an equal role in elevating his condition to that of a good personality. Individual excellence does not stop spreading once they reach the pinnacle of their profession. Individual greatness, on the other hand, can be judged not only by those who came after people but also by those who lived before them. Current people are unable to comprehend the significance and greatness of those who live with them, and it will only be discovered by future generations. I partially agree that as time passes, many vaguenesses may become apparent, but far too many great men have indeed been acclaimed while they were still alive. In my opinion, it is highly dependent on the social situation and religious beliefs of the people at the time, as well as the subject matter of the issue. There are some illustrations to backup my choice, which are discussed further down.

People strongly believed in their religions in many ways. They accepted many superstitious beliefs as facts due to religious fanaticism. Even being intrigued about these ostensible facts was illegal. For example, Galileo, a renowned astronomer, lived in a situation where religious leaders answered every questionable issue. People at the time believed the earth is the center of the universe, and that all planets and stars, including the Sun, revolve around it, as stated in religious texts. Galileo dedicated himself to studying the movement of the planets at that time. He discovered a startling fact after numerous attempts. The Earth is not the center of the universe, but it also rotates around the Sun, according to him. He deserved to be praised, but he was unfairly labeled as a criminal who tried to disregard religious beliefs. He was sentenced to invest the remaining years in a jail cell as a result of his claim.

Bill Gates, on the other hand, is now regarded as one of the world's most successful and wealthy men. He became completely immersed in computer programming, and his efforts marked a watershed moment in computer science. Every one of us benefits from his innovations when working with computers. Microsoft is a very well-known computer company, and its chairman can only be Bill Gates. Furthermore, he has received accolades at various ceremonies, and people prefer to purchase his dependable software. After reviewing the claim that contemporaries widely laud no true hero, some questions may arise. A closer examination of the reasons reveals that just being highly praised is highly dependent on the needs of people at the time. Today, improving the spread of information and software is among the most pressing needs, and Gates has dedicated his entire life to it.

On the other hand, the movement of the earth changed not only people's lives but also their religious beliefs. Officials play a significant role in determining whether someone is famous or not. They may allow a theory to be published if it is not harmful. Some assertions are threatening to authorities, and the majority of them are about political or religious issues. As a result, the field wherein great men work can influence whether or not they improve. Artists, scientists, and athletes whose advancements do not conflict with social beliefs or authority power have a better chance of being praised by their peers.

To conclude, I would like to mention that greatness is not only decided by peers. If someone is great at doing something or shows greatness, that person will be praised with time. It might be during his lifetime or after. Greatness never goes unnoticed.
