Model answer

Teachers are the ones who inspire students to strive for excellence in all areas of their lives. Students learn to distinguish between good and wrong thanks to their instruction. In a student's life, teachers are the ultimate role models. The given statement claims that, ‘Teachers' salaries should be based on their students' academic performance’ which I certainly refute. Every time a student achieves in his or her performance, whether it is academic or athletic, the teachers are praised for their efforts in educating the youngster. Although instructors should be praised when their students do well and chastised. Further, when their pupils perform poorly collectively, a teacher's income should not be determined by their students' academic success. Many times, people believe that a teachers’ salary should be based on the students’ academic performance. It is because it will improve the academic performance of a student. This argument however is not right, because every coin has two sides. I do not concur with the statement mentioned, due to the following reasons.

To begin with, a student's academic achievement throughout the course of an academic year is not a comprehensive measure of what has been taught in the classroom. There are other more considerations to be made. Many students, for example, choose to pay for tuition, coaching, and extra classes rather than pay attention in class. They feel that their tuition will suffice and they will be taught in detail and in a much simpler or easier manner than what is being taught in the classroom. In such instances, an instructor cannot be held liable for a student's poor performance. Furthermore, the student is responsible for a major portion of the student's academic accomplishment.

A teacher can design a class in a fun and engaging way. A teacher may create an engaging and simple lesson for a student, but the rest is up to the student. A student's ability to absorb the lesson, clarify his doubts, ask questions, and practise a lesson is entirely dependent on him. If a student is engaged in a subject and works hard to grasp every idea linked to the topic or lesson, he is far more likely to succeed. A student who does not strive to study or comprehend because of distractions is less likely to succeed. A smart teacher is likely to have 10-15 students who score below par, roughly 20 who score over par, and the other 50-60 students to receive an average score. The premise is that the teacher cannot be held entirely responsible for the students' academic success. It is the students' obligation to get excellent grades.

If this situation occurs, teachers will host tuition since they are more concerned about their salaries than the students' understanding of the lecture. If this occurs, the whole core of education and classroom instruction would be gone. Education will be used just to make money. Furthermore, if home tuition becomes the norm, the pressure on students will increase, affecting their mental health. A student devotes 5-6 hours per day to school. If home tuition becomes mandatory, students will have very little time for activities such as homework, watching TV, playing, and many more. All of these are critical for a child's academic success and overall development. In such circumstances, you can't expect a student to do well. Furthermore, not all students are born equal. Every student's definition of good academic success is different. For example, just because a student isn’t progressing in a subject doesn't indicate the teacher isn't working hard or paying attention to the students. Teachers should be commended for their ongoing efforts to better their students.

It is believed that if teachers' salary is based on the academic performance of a student, it will motivate the teachers to work hard. Furthermore, give extra attention to the students. They think it will ensure good grades for the students. But on the flip side, if this happens, there’s a chance that the student can take things for granted and not study at all. Therefore, I believe that a teacher's salary should not be based on a students’ academic performance. Rather than teachers should be provided certain incentives when a student performs well. This will keep them motivated to work better.
