Model Answer

Art is a diverse range of human activities in which humans express their imaginative or technical skills in visual, auditory, or artwork form. They are appreciated for their beauty and emotional powers. The art of society represents its culture, traditions, ideas, feelings, and values. Its promotion and protection are not the responsibility of one individual or organisation only but it is the joint effort of society as well. For this, government funding is necessary for the flourishing of art and making it prone to everyone prevailing in society. The artist should get financial support from the government to achieve their best levels. Giving views in the favour of the topic that the government should provide enough funds to help the artists and to promote art.

An artist, like a painter, dancer, sculptor, or singer requires funds to create any artistic creation using their talents. Like a musician needs a stage or needs to do a concert to showcase their talent, whereas painters need an exhibition or a workshop for displaying their paintings. The government, as well as private art and cultural organisations, must help in promoting these events by promoting platforms. The development of art and artists is not possible in isolation, it needs a little encouragement and resources for its progress. Artists can come up with their efforts and hard work but there comes a point where they need financial support to reach up. Here the government should come forward and should remove the restrictions so that art can flourish to the utmost level.

Government can buy the works of small painters and can sell these paintings at higher prices. If the financial support from the government kicks in, the status of art will get better and stronger in society. Some instances show with the financial support from the government, the arts have grown steadily. Government should set up at least 10-15 national-level world-class aided institutes of art-drama, literature, music, dance, painting, etc. The running of institutes must be free from political interference by the government. Art as a subject should be made mandatory up to class 10 in all the schools. Government should set up a ministry that deals with the rules, regulations, and guidelines for all matters about the arts. These steps provide huge support and also ensure that art can flourish and be available to the people.

Government can organise educational public programs related to a form of art, that can help the artist to earn adequate incomes. It can make their lives and at the same time, it creates a sense of attachment between people and art. Various steps have been taken up by the different organisations to promote and flourish art and culture. We can see that various schemes by the government of India like Award to Young Talented Artists, Guru Shishya Parampara, , etc were launched in 2020. It was to preserve and promote languages, folk dances, art and culture of tribals. Like this government needs to take steps regarding the promotion of art and culture.

Some people might believe that government funding of the arts threatens the integrity of arts, some believe that government support will put dirt on the beauty of art, the art will lose its purity. There is a probability that the government can use the promotion and flourishment of art as propaganda and it will lead to contamination of it. The art and culture of a nation make its heritage-rich, prestigious, and vibrant. The arts are an important community builder and prosperity generator for states. Along with the government-private organisations are also responsible for promoting the art and culture of a state.
