This topic can best be explained with the example of America. America is home to immigrants. Over time, we have seen immigrants from across the world make America their home. They have tried every way to avert starvation, persecution, or another kind of jeopardizing disaster. Many people formed communities with others having similar language, religions, or race as a result of barriers. It is through these communities that culture has been preserved throughout. These are traditions that have been maintained for the longest time. It is these traditions that have resulted in America being a dwelling of an array of traditions. In this regard, it should be known that America has a nation that has very limited cultural traditions. One of the very famous ones is Thanksgiving. They also have their own Independence Day on 4th July and Columbus Day in the month of October. These traditions are not regular celebrations in major cities, nor are they sourced from major cities. America has its separate traditions for both large and small cities. Though how much the smaller cities’ celebrations offer the major cities is questionable. It is also questionable whether the government provides funds for preserving cultural traditions.

A very proper example can be found in the French and Swedish mix. The Swedes came to Maine during the last half of the 19th century. It was then that the place became filled with Swedish people. Slowly the Swedish people made changes to the lush forest and turned it into farming lands as they were farmers. Lutheran churches were founded, they got hitched to other Swedish immigrants and Swedish meals were prepared by them during traditions. This phase was preceded by the entrance of Acadian French people after mills were established. A great change was noticed in schools, where most of the surnames were previously Soderberg, Johnson, Anderson, it got replaced with Rossignols, Plourdes, Doucette. The most imminent thing that occurred was the French falling in love with the Swedish people. Presently, there is not an immense propensity of pureblooded Swedish people. But the continuation of Midsummer has been persisted by Swedish people. Midsummer is celebrated by wearing similar-looking Swedish outfits, having Swedish meals, dancing, and raising a Maypole. All these festivities are performed without the support of government funds. The communities raised money from people and celebrated.

America is held together by different communities. It is impossible to grow as a community if there is no uniformity functioned by the officials. For instance, a proper road is a necessity for a community to travel to offices or schools during the day, and to restaurants or clubs during the night. A systematic water and drainage system is again a prerequisite as it will help in the perpetual maintenance of health and keep diseases at bay. Electricity, healthcare, houses, are all obligations that officials should provide to a community.

Lately, America is on the verge of losing traditions and has made them bygone. People are no more celebrating Thanksgiving to cherish the virtue of the day but to sort out their Christmas planning. In a situation like this, it would be unwise for the government to not probe deep into the matter and provide funds for the continuity of the age-old tradition.
