TOEFL scores are marked on a range of 0 - 120. The four sections of iBT TOEFL are marked on a range of 0 - 30 separately. TOEFL total marks are calculated by converting raw score to scaled score. Universities consider a range of 90 to 100 as a good TOEFL score. ETS has set proficiency levels ranging from advanced to low-intermediate. Results for TOEFL valid for two years. TOEFL Score Calculator

ETS obtains the TOEFL total marks by converting raw score to scaled score. The raw score is the total number of correct answers given by a candidate. The scaled score is the TOEFL total score or TOEFL maximum score in each section - 30. The raw TOEFL marks are not found on the TOEFL score report. Candidates can use the conversion table to know their TOEFL scores after each practice test to calculate their TOEFL exam result.

TOEFL Reading Score 

There are a total of 30 to 40 questions in the TOEFL reading. If the candidate has correctly answered 25 questions, their raw TOEFL score will be 25. This score will be converted to a scaled score out of 30. The TOEFL max score a candidate can get is 30 in any of the four sections. There are 28 to 39 questions in the TOEFL listening section. Candidates get to see the scaled score out of 30 during their TOEFL results time. TOEFL Percentile 

Many universities and colleges consider the iBT TOEFL test percentile for studying the performance of candidates. TOEFL percentile is calculated based on TOEFL band score out of 30. Percentile score helps candidates and universities in understanding their performance in comparison to the other test-takers. From the above table, it can be understood that the higher the TOEFL scores, the better the percentiles. Most of the universities look for a TOEFL percentile of around 78 to 86. Candidates need to aim for a good TOEFL score of around 100.

What is a Good TOEFL Score? 

A good TOEFL score depends on certain factors - university cutoff, and ETS score descriptors. When a candidate obtains the TOEFL iBT score required by a top university, that will be considered as a TOEFL best score. Additionally, when a candidate obtains their TOEFL total score in a range of 24 - 30, that is considered a good TOEFL score. When Will You Recieve Your TOEFL Scores?

The TOEFL scores will be seen in your ETS account depending on your Test-taking procedure:

  • In case, you have taken the TOEFL test at a test center- 6 days after your TOEFL test date
  • In case, you have taken the TOEFL iBT Home Edition: 6–10 days after your TOEFL test date
  • In case, you have taken the TOEFL iBT Paper Edition: 11–13 business days after your TOEFL test date

How Will You Recieve Your TOEFL Scores?

There are two ways to receive your TOEFL test scores:

  1. Through Your ETS Account

You'll get an email when your TOEFL scores are available, and you can obtain them through your ETS account online. Your TOEFL score validity lasts up to 2 years, so you can download and print a PDF copy of your score report.

  1. Via Mail

If you had requested for a paper copy of your TOEFL score report before you have taken the test, it will be mailed 11–15 days after your TOEFL test date.

Candidates can request an additional score report if they have obtained lower than their expected TOEFL minimum score. The sending TOEFL scores fee is US$ 20 for each additional university.TOEFL score reporting takes 7 to 10 days to reach the universities.
