Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Admission 2023: Application Form, Registration Dates, Counseling, Top Colleges

J&K MBBS Admissions is conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE). Candidates from J&K can get admission into MBBS and BDS courses in the medical and dental colleges of Jammu and Kashmir on the basis of NEET scores. NEET 2023 Exam will take place on May 7, 2023. 

The JKBOPEE has also announced that the board will contribute 15 percent of seats for AIQ from this year. The Round 2 J&K MBBS Counselling has also been concluded for the available 346 seats. Candidates who fulfill the J&K MBBS eligibility criteria can participate in the processes for admission to Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Admission from October 2023. The admission will be based on the scores obtained in the NEET exam

Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Admissions 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates have to fulfill certain eligibility criteria given below laid down by the admission authority before filling out the J&K MBBS Application Form:

  • An Indian citizen is only eligible for J&K MBBS  admission
  • Candidates must have attained the age of 17 years on the day of the exam i.e. September 13, decision regarding the upper age limit is still pending in the supreme court
  • Candidates applying for admission under State Quota must be permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir
  • General category candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology whereas candidates belonging to the reserved category must have scored 40% while PwD candidates, under the open merit category, must score 45% in accordance with disability prescribed in MCI regulations
  • Candidates should qualify for the medical entrance examination  for admission to J&K MBBS 2023

Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Admissions 2023: Application Form

Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Application forms can be filled out online. Check the Comprehensive Application Process below:

  1. Registration and Application Fee: The first step in the J&K MBBS application form is the payment of fees after which a PIN will be generated. The PIN number is essential in order to complete verification and start registration for Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Admissions. To pay the fees, follow the steps given below:
    1. Log on to the official website of J&K MBBS Admissions and click on the New candidate option and select the default course name i.e. Medical and Paramedical.
    2. The next question will be whether the candidate has appeared for NEET 2023 or not, select ‘yes’ to answer this question.
    3. Candidates will then have to register by filling in the details asked in the Jammu and Kashmir medical admission forms. An OTP will be sent to the registered email ID or mobile number in order to confirm registration.
    4. After filling out the OTP proceed to the payment page and pay the application fees. The application fee submitted for the J&K MBBS application form is non-refundable.
    5. Candidates can either retrieve the PIN from designated bank branches or get it online to start filling out the application form.
  2. Upload Documents and Application Details: Once the registration and payment are completed, candidates will have to fill in their personal and educational details. NEET registration number, roll number, and score need to be provided in the application form. Candidates are also required to upload a passport-size photograph (40KB) and signature (20KB) as per the size specified.
  3. Credentials: After completion of the above step, candidates will be issued their login credentials (login ID and password) basis which they will be able to apply for counseling. Candidates can change the default password allocated to them and set their own password.
  4. Editing and Submission: In order to confirm participation for J&K MBBS Admissions 2023, candidates will have to click on ‘Submit Registration Details’. Candidates must double-check all the details filled in the application before submitting the final form as they will not be able to edit the details after submitting it. Taking printouts of the forms is advisable for later reference.

Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Admissions 2023: Exam Pattern

The Official schedule released by NTA clearly mentions that NEET 2023 is a ‘pen’ and ‘paper-based exam to be held in three hours. Candidates have to mark their answers in the NEET OMR sheet provided to them at the exam centers. NEET question paper will contain questions from Biology (Botany+Zoology), Physics, and Chemistry. The detailed exam pattern of NEET 2023 is as follows:

  • The Exam mode is ‘pen’ and ‘paper-based.
  • The language of the Exam will be English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
  • There are 180 questions (Maximum 720 marks) in the Exam.
  • Questions will be MCQ based. 1 Option is correct out of 4 Options.
  • 4 Marks will be awarded for a correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answers.
  • There will be 45 Questions in Physics, 45 Questions in Chemistry, and 90 Questions in Biology (Zoology + Botany).

Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Admissions 2023: Result

The National Testing Agency has declared NEET 2023 results in online mode. The result for NEET can be downloaded by Candidates by entering their roll number and date of birth. The result of NEET 2023 is released in the form of a scorecard that has to be downloaded and kept safe since it will not be sent via any other means. The NEET result will be required during counseling. The steps to download the result are as mentioned below:

  • Enter the NEET Roll Number (as given on admit card) and date of birth.

Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Admissions 2023: Counselling

NEET 2023 counseling dates have been announced by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and are shared in the above important dates table. NEET 2023 counseling is being conducted by the Directorate General of Health Sciences (DGHS) on behalf of MCC. The counseling is being conducted online and candidates who wish to participate in this process have to register themselves on the official website of MCC. 

On successful registration, candidates can log in to their profile using Roll No and password and opt for counseling. Compared to other states, J&K does not have 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats. Counseling is conducted by the state itself and vacant seats are filled through fight, second and third rounds of counseling. Seats left vacant in Deemed Universities/ Central Universities/ ESIC colleges will be filled through a mop-up round of NEET 2023 counseling.

Jammu and Kashmir MBBS Admissions 2023: Participating Colleges

No seats are allowed under the AIQ (All India Quota) in medical and dental colleges of Jammu and Kashmir. Ques. Can I get admission to medical colleges of J&K through the All India Quota of NEET 2023?

Ans. No. Medical colleges of J&K admit candidates only through the state quota (100%). State medical colleges accept applications of only permanent residents or domiciles of J&K.

But this instills in them a strong sense of community-oriented healthcare. They tend to work in remote places of India without any personal glory. An AIIMS student can hardly be seen doing community service. AIIMS graduates publish more when compared to CMC graduates. CMC students get better hands-on experience and hence fare better in terms of clinical and Surgical skills. Ans. As a student of UCMS, I will try to enlighten you about my college. Location- It is true that UCMS is located in the periphery of Delhi, and its surrounding is not as developed as that of VMMC. Regardless, the location of UCMS offers most of the facilities required for a good college life. You can access Cinepolis, PVR and Big Cinemas from here, reach CP in 20-30 minutes by metro/private vehicle, and catch a metro from Jhilmil metro station to explore Delhi/NCR.  Campus- UCMS has a beautiful campus, the best among Delhi medical colleges. It has a huge central field where you can play cricket, basketball, football, etc. Boys get single seater hostel rooms from the first year itself. The campus has two 24*7 canteens, a book shop from where you can access all your medical books, an ATM, and a post office.The hospital has undergone renovation, and looks new and well managed. Academics- UCMS offers excellent academics. The faculty is skilled and teaches with sincerity. The Histology Lab in the Anatomy department is really good.  Extracurriculars- UCMS has a sports society, a western dance team, a theme choreography team, a dramatics team, a musical society, a literary society and a medical education unit. Pondicherry is a clean and pollution-free city that offers fresh breathable air. You will be away from the hustle and bustle of city life and get to experience a slow life. You get a lot of time to ponder upon the challenges life throws at you. Cons North Indians might face language issues to a certain extent. Pondicherry does not have online delivery services like Swiggy, Big Basket, and Food Panda.  There isn't any decent shopping place here. There is only Pothys which is only known for sarees and suits. Their daily schedule looks like this  8 am to 11 am: Lectures 11 am to 1 pm: Anatomy dissection hours 1 pm to 2 pm: Lunch break 2 pm to 4:30 pm: Practicals In the evening some prefer playing basketball, football, hockey, table tennis, and badminton while others order just napping or hitting the gym. Some music lovers go to the band room to play out various symphonies and musicals. A few artist students spend their time participating or practicing for fine arts competitions. September brings in a huge crowd of students from different colleges attending Spandan. It’s a 7 day intercollegiate cultural literary and sports extravaganza that makes the monotonous life of JIPMER students a bit vibrant. October witnesses the Jipmer premier league ied teams of girls and boys. There is also Curie Day which is the annual girls' hostel day celebration. The hostel is open for boys as well and girls perform dance and sing. After all this enjoyment, the exams begin and students are reminded of their primary goal.  January is usually spent at home. In February, students go to Pune for the fest at AFMC -‘Silhouettes’. March brings in the tension of the annual university examinations and everybody can be seen surrounded by books. The seniors organize a wonderful Holi celebration- a cultural night followed by gulaal in the morning to ensure that students don’t succumb to the stress.
