I know people who used to score around 480 and got admission to AIIMS Delhi. Concept clarity, practice, and consistent hard work can help you score better. AIATS is a good yardstick for judging your preparation, but it doesn’t necessarily have to define you. You can use your score to motivate yourself and study more. But AIATS scores aren’t the ultimate indicator of your performance on the day.

Do students of AIIMS Delhi get opportunity to go to US UK during MBBS?

My brother has gone to both the US as well as the UK during his MBBS at AIIMS Delhi. The caveat is that the trips are expensive, as expected. So either you can spend it on your own or get a sponsorship from the ICMR research grant. To get ICMR research funding you need to do some good research on your field and then convince ICMR through some conferences regarding why you need to secure some funding for the project. If they get convinced of the same and your request is approved, you do not need to spend a penny for your trip.

Do all of the 7 AIIMS take their students for Shimla trip or is it only for AIIMS Delhi students?

Currently, there are a total of 22 AIIMS in the country which are in various stages of operations out of which 9 are fully operational and most of the others have either started the classes or are partially functioning. In terms of outstation trips neither AIIMS Delhi nor any of the other AIIMS conduct any such activities for their students officially. The Shimla trip done for freshers of AIIMS Delhi is conducted by the Student Welfare Union of AIIMS Delhi which is a student body. Most of the other AIIMS, as you would know, are new institutes and are still in the process of creating such traditions for their students which AIIMS Delhi, being the oldest of them all, already has. So most of them including mine, AIIMS Jodhpur, currently do not have any such outstation trips planned.

What are your views regarding the scrapping of the AIIMS UG and the JIPMER UG exams from 2021?

One of my friends is preparing for medical exams and he opposes the idea of scrapping AIIMS UG and JIPMER UG exams. People that this gives them an advantage like: - Preparing for a single exam gives you more time to focus on the same pattern. Payment has to be done only once as compared to earlier. The level of questions is comparatively easier than AIIMS because having -¼ negative marks and easier questions. However merging the exams have led to the real advantages the students had before which are: - People who weren’t able to give NEET properly worked hard for AIIMS or JIPMER. They had another opportunity and alternative which they don’t have right now. In the NEET exam -1/4 is marked for negative attempt but on the other hand in AIIMS allowed only -1/3 to make genuine attempts Inevitable rank inflation in NEET AIIMS was on the level of engineering entrance exams comparatively NEET is much easier therefore there are lots of students with the same marks fighting for a single spot.
