The study of economics requires rigorous inquiry and analysis, quantitative and critical thinking skills, and effective written and oral communication abilities. These skills enable graduates to take their degree in many directions.
Assumption offers you the opportunity to tailor your interest in economics along three different tracks.
Benefits and Features of a Bachelor's in Economics at Assumption- Tailor your major to your interests. Add to a major in economics with a concentration in business, a minor in finance or a minor in sports management. Combine a major in global studies with a major or minor in languages, a study abroad program or an internship in Washington, D.C. ?Combine quantitative economics and mathematics with an eye toward an actuarial or a data analytics career.
- A primary benefit to the study of economics and global issues is the array of career choices at your feet. Alumni have secured positions as a senior associate at Actua Corporation working on the financial aspects of mergers and acquisitions; another alumna is working in the African Community Education division of the Massachusetts Service Alliance.
- Recent graduates of the department have procured spots in first-rate study abroad and graduate school programs including: the London School of Economics, the University of Connecticut, Clark University, the University of Rochester and Colorado State University.
- Assumption students take advantage of excellent internships opportunities including Ernst & Young in New York City, the John H. Chafee Center for International Business in Rhode Island, MyBnk in London and the Worcester Regional Research Bureau right here on campus.

Career Opportunities
The Economics major is excellent preparation for career entry in banking, government, finance, investments, research, and teaching, as well as in business, labor, law, and the private non profit sector.
Many graduates pursue an advanced degree in Economics, Business, Law, Public Administration, or International Affairs. Students considering going on to study economics at a graduate school are encouraged to complete a minor in Mathematics.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school and other education completed
- Applicants should have completed the following coursework: four years of english, three years of mathematics, two years of history and science, two years of foreign language
- Submit a letter of recommendation from counselor or teacher
- Submit a personal statement or essay
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores

- TOEFL: minimum score of 80 in ibt; 550 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.5
- PTE: minimum 53
- Duolingo: minimum 105
