Hampshire College International Student Admissions

As a first-year student, you must be 17 years old or older at the time of enrollment. International students may apply for financial aid at Hampshire College. The College provides merit scholarships to international and undocumented applicants, as well as a limited amount of financial aid (grant) assistance to students who demonstrate significant financial need.

Application Portal- International students must use the Common Application to submit their applications. Application Fee: 80 USD

Application Requirements

• Completed Common Application
• Current or completed high school transcripts
• School report & college counselor recommendation
• One recommendation letter from a professor
• Statement of Purpose
• Evidence of finances
• English Proficiency Requirements like TOEFL, IELTS, DUOLINGO. The College also accepts the following as evidence of English proficiency:
  • IB (Higher Level) English A1 or A2 grades
  • AP English Literature and Composition grades
  • Predicted A-level English exam marks

In addition to the requirements listed above, applicants for the common application may be asked to meet the following optional requirements:

• Music, dance, film, animation, or a monologue may be included in a video or media supplement.
• A sample of a scientific or creative project completed in high school.
• Three more letters of recommendation.
• Resume

US Visa for international Students

Following successful admission to Hampshire College in the United States and payment of the tuition fee, the Multicultural and International Student Services Office (MISS) contacts international students to discuss the next steps for obtaining an F-1 visa to study in the United States. Before an I-20 form can be issued, students must provide the following documents by May 2023:

• International Student Data Form
• Financial Guarantee Form with supporting documentation
• A color photocopy of your passport .
• If you are currently an F-1 student, your SEVIS Transfer-In form must be completed.

An I-20 form is issued after the documents are submitted. Following that, students must pay the SEVIS I-901 fee. You will then receive a postal mailing containing the I-20 Form required for your visa application, visa application guidance, and important pre-arrival information. The processing time for I-20 may take several weeks. The local US embassy will then schedule an interview and may request additional paperwork from the student.
